Neverwinter does not support being run in Linux. People made it works but it does not mean Cryptic supports it and in fact, they already said they don't support Linux. Neverwinter (PC) does not support controller. People made it works using 3rd party (windows) software but it does not mean Cryptic supports it. So, it is very unlikely Cryptic will spend the energy to make Neverwinter works in Steam Deck and supports it.
In short, if user/3rd party somehow makes it works in Steam Deck, great. They are not going to stop you (unlike another software company announced they would ban user to use Steam Deck to play their Windows game). However, you are on your own.
If they indeed want to spend the time to support Steam Deck, they would have announced it already. No point to keep as a secret.

It does none the less, run in Linux OS (Proton), the issue with the Steam Deck will be getting the controllers on the device to work. Neverwinter isn't joystick or gamepad friendly. I did manage to use Joy2Key to get a USB PS4 controller to work for Neverwinter, but it is very limited having 13 buttons 2 thumb sticks. Since the Steam Deck is basically a laptop of sorts, one could tweak it.
I have been running NW on Linux using Steam for two years with semi ancient hardware, so the steam deck should just be a matter of time. As long as you have the minimum requirements unsupported usually means if it stops working don't cry to us, figure it out yourself.

Also since Neverwinter is on console. Seems like some controller options could be supported if they choose to
You can put windows on Steamdeck... but that hardly seems necessary or ideal.
