Tyrrany of Dragon campaign become difficult

Hi All,

I have some observation/feedback/suggestions regarding TOD

1. Killing a Dragon:
With the new gear starting of mod 17, killing a dragon will take only 1 encounter. Melee toons are suffering to land an hit on the dragon as ranged classes kill it before even it lands. that made a lot of people have hard time to complete the quest, waiting for dragon after dragon hoping to land a strike before the others kill it. I suggest to make it immune until it lands and increase it's HP to be more resistant against the high gear that everyone have now.

2. Legacy Quest (complete 5 quests in Tyrrany of Dragons)
The quests from Harper Boward do not count toward the legacy quest. I suggest to make them count as they take time and effort to complete as any other quest in the TOD map.

If the 'scaling' done to the character stats would also limit the feats and powers available to them (nothing higher than would be appropriate for the level of enemy) there would not be the instant-kill moments that currently plague the regional Dragon kills as well as the Dragon Heralds. While the 'scaling' does a fine job of reducing %-based stats (like Gold) it ignores any fixed bonus (like +1000 power), an oversight that should be fixed as well.

The solution to range weapon for melee characters is the Doohickey. My Paladin always gets a hit in before the dragon lands :-)

    Smite also works.

As for #1: I am not sure WHY the Dev's have not changed WoD dragons to work like the dragons in guild DF where you cannot attack them until several seconds AFTER they land. This would solve this problem.

As for #2: Totally agree.. Also adding Elminster's quest would help.
    Guild: Noble Misfits

Kepler: Human Paladin --- Demenoss: Dragonborn Barbarian
Divine Pan'teeze: Drow Cleric --- Nikki Sharparrow: Human Ranger

Surely some scaling would be fairly simple here - too many players are killing the Dragons even before they have landed - that can't be right, eh?

In all cases we're already scaled where the dragons land.

I play a Barbarian. I have almost no ranged attacks whatsoever. I manage to get to dragons in time all the time.
Everyone has the same mount speed now.
I have never ever seen any dragon die to a single encounter.
So this part you talk bs.
But their hp could be buffed and they should count towards the repeatable Kill a Cult Dragon quest, which they don't count towards now.

You just need to be in there at 35 after and hook up with the Dragon Run. What confuses me... What new gear did you get from module 17??? The only gear I got from module 17 was for our companions. Maybe you meant module 18 or 19?

The Dragon Run hasn't changed all that much, people still work together and get 10 or more dragons killed within the 10 minutes allowed. Here is the wiki article, if you need more information. I have seen some people smack the first dragon and take off right away for the next. I got your license plate pal! That is not cool, but they do exist. Sometimes the time of day you play can be an important factor. I also recommend holding Sybella's Quest until the following week, so you get better people to play with in there.

    Have fun! <3

Different dragon run. You are talking about WoD. They are talking about ToD.

They are talking about the cult dragons in the graveyard, Ebon Downs, Rothe Valley, Whispering Caverns, and Icewind Peak? Wow! I for one don't bother with them unless I am feeling very nostalgic. They don't have anything to do with Sybella's quests so that part 2 is what made me believe they are talking about the 5 chromatic dragons in WoD which is still the last part of ToD. The only reason for anyone to be doing Charthaxis would be pages of lore maybe?

just switch to an instance without people in it for hits on the dragon. also iirc you only have to do the quest from boward once per new level after that you can just click on the campaign to complete. although I have a low level pally in neverdeath at the dragon spawn point and when it lands I never have a difficult time getting a hit in, which dragon in particular is it you're having problems with?

The dragons in WoD do not fly in. They just appear. The Dragon in graveyard ... flies in and can be range hit before they land. New characters still do those ToD quests.

They do land in Well of Dragons too. My ranger and wizards can in fact get off a few shots before they land. They do have a fly in animation as the others, I don't think the time is nearly long enough for the Gods of Neverwinter to kill one as it lands. After the first one lands the others appear on the ground as we approach them. Anyone who has been at green can see the dragon's approach out of the sun, my ranger Will has some awesome heat seeking arrows, because they curve to hit dragon as it dodges on approach.

Merothrax in Icespire Peak seems to be the sweet spot where there are enough players that you won't have to struggle but not so overpowered that the dragon dies in seconds. Venfithar in Rothe Valley is a bit less populated but still reasonably attended. Vilathrax in Whispering Caverns, you may need to solo or duo but unless there is just some godmode character, you don't have to worry about it dying too quickly. Additionally, it just appears after the cutscene so there isn't a flight delay for melees.
