I am getting this error a lot now and that has me worried about a great many things. The chat system is apparently also tied to the mail box. I attempt to send my other characters items by mail (too lazy to go to the bank) and BOOM! the error message in red pops up. From that point on nothing I type in chat appears and no incoming chat is seen.
I hope that information will assist the developer working on getting this fixed.
Hey folks, if you are still experiencing the error can you let us know what time/date you experienced it? The login server was resolved by 9:27am PT this morning (January 22) so we want to make sure we identify anyone having difficulty logging in after that time.
Can't do much of anything. Everything is SUPER slow to load, chat not working, can't really move around due to rubberbanding and getting "server not responding" or getting DC'd.
you can log in? I can't even log in from launcher because it crashes once I log in.
I do not use Arc or Steam Launchers, if that helps. I use the Neverwinter.exe to start the game. This will give you the Cryptic Launcher. I recommend you try "Options" and check the box next to "Safe mode".
I have same issue with chat as @sandukutupu described since mod18 release. After a character switching my chat become completely dead. I doesn't show an error message in my case, just doesn't show anything except some system notifies. "Set channel" list shows only "Say" and some custom channels where I'm in. Typing anything into "Say" doesn't pop anything either.
I have a problem after cryptic launcher get game client.exe has stopped working and wonder is there is an issue because I can not load game knocks me out with close program. 2:12 am central time US 1/23/2020 oldone#2889.

ATTN: @mikusquared#1439 I had a friend join me a little while ago. I logged into the game and they met me and we spoke. Everything was business as usual. I swapped and my friend (over the cell phone) told me I was no longer online, but they could see my character. It has me logged off to the game but still able to play and complete tasks. I have to log out then log in before it registers I exist to other people. I attempted to use the /hide /unhide commands and no dice. Once I swap, it no longer sees me.
At least there is a work around for now. Best wishes on getting this issue fixed.
Reason for Edit: Today I noticed, the error posts the "red text message" in chat when I try to send mail, but I can still receive mail, and even pull items out of the mail.

@sandukutupu FYI, I played more than one character and switch character very often. I don't have the issue you described. You asked to comment here in the other thread.

Thank you, this would seem to be account related. I will try my husband's account on my client and then on the PC he uses. If this occurs only on my PC and not his, I am going to do a safe mode and verify all files on mine.
Safe mode and verify did not correct the situation. Even assuming it is a small percentile, having this issue, the players who have it, won't automatically identify with it being a bug. It took me a while just to figure it was related to logging on and off the characters. My husband's Windows 10 Desktop PC didn't seem to show signs of this issue.
@mikusquared#1439 what versions of Windows OS are you currently testing your software? There are still about 30% of the people out here in the real world using Windows 7 64 bit. I wouldn't want to alienate about one-third of the user base. Whatever you changed in the chat software, it was working flawlessly in mod 17 and now it doesn't. Even people who I spoke with --while I can chat-- tell me the chat is lagging.

@sandukutupu FYI, if this worth anything, I am using a Windows 10 Desktop.

@sandukutupu I'm actually playing on Linux with Wine emulator. It's in "win7" mode currently but switching to "win10" didn't give any effect.
My husband @hotfrostworm has done Linux testing with Wine, Play on Linux, and Codeweaver's Crossover. I will check with him when he returns this weekend. I will ask my husband to look into the Linux end on this as well. We have 5 PC and my laptop. Only 2 run Windows 10 and my laptop is not up to snuff on the GPU for this game. My desktop is Windows 7 64 bit dual boot Linux Kubuntu. The rest are all Linux and my husband's Windows 10 PC has multiple boot OS. Unless a Cryptic developer can explain what they did to alter the system or change it back, then it could be a long wait for anyone with other than Windows 10. I am still at a loss how a new module can mess up the chat system.
@mikusquared#1439 ok do I feel dumb. My husband showed me, I have been playing on the Linux OS all the time. I rebooted and launched it on Windows 7 and the game works without the mail / chat issue. However that doesn't let you off the hook as it was working prior to this module.
Still a minor bug here on this end. Only Linux OS issue, the work around is to log out and log back into the server.

I know your server is 208.95.###.### have no idea what the 172.26.###.### is related to in the communication log. If you know, then I guess I won't worry about it either. Switching between the characters drops the chat server and you cannot send chat or mail. My best guess at this point is this; someone on your end made some network changes on module 18 and those changes are very Windows specific. Wine does not emulate Windows and passes all network functions through the Linux network manager (Samba). I don't expect you to debug Linux issues, but it is something that was changed / altered, either by purpose or error, on your end. This could cause you future errors, when Windows once again changes their format and users begin to upgrade. Keeping the network code standard is important to you, as this also may relate to the rash of players who could not connect for the better part of the first week.
I have some time available this weekend, if you need anything from my end, let me know.

I logged out to this screen.
Then after login, I chose Nicholas as my first character to play.
As you can see chat works again, until I switch to my next character. Then the chat server logs me out or doesn't get my login information?
I hope this works for you.
Just have tried again now and it still is.
