Is anyone having CW issues?

It seems to me CW doesn't do much of any damage until he has frozen enemies which makes killing something like the rimfire golem in CTA, who is immune, difficult.

But the freeze also misfires a lot or is interrupted. I am pretty sure if I don't wait for the freeze to be seen visually, and I hit any other power I end up interrupting the freeze and nerfing myself.

OK, so, that means I need to be patient. That is how I have adapted for the 2 months I have been playing CW.

Only now something is different. I think many enemies got a buff to control powers. I think their controls last longer, are more difficult to dodge, there are more of them, or perhaps they are just more frequent, and have shorter cast times. For CW this becomes a nightmare. You need the freeze or you're not doing much of anything and the freeze has a long cast time. Even dodging interrupts the freeze. So when enemies are able to aim you with a short cast time control, you have to dodge and interrupt your own freeze. Even if you get the freeze off, you need to follow up with other powers to get the damage. The problem with that is that the freeze doesn't last long. If you are running and dodging the freeze has expired (after you had to wait for it) so you are firing off powers while they do little.

The buff to enemy control powers that I think I am seeing has a lot of effect on some classes and little effect on others. HR also has long cast times. Unlike CW though, HR can aim sloppily and still get it done. So HR is not troubled as much. DC is hurt really badly. DC powers need to be well aimed or you don't do a thing. While trying to take aim, you get hit with a control, then another control, then another. My poor cleric can't do certain HE's in stronghold any more because he spends the entire time dazed. Almost 11k item level, can't do influence runs without avoiding certain ones. (ones that have historically been pretty easy i.e. he could do it at 8500 item level)

    * Yes, the CW generally is a bit on the low end of the DPS scale at the moment. Hopefully we get better dps with mod 16, this is getting a bit annoying/sad/bad feeling/lack of will to play :) Cryptic has promised serious class rebalancing for mod 16, so we can hope.
    * Your main freeze is Icy Terrain with Icy Veins feat. That is almost instacast. I do not know why you complain about long cast time on freeze, maybe your neural system is operating at an entirely different and faster frequency than mine :)
    * Also make sure you have sufficient lifesteal. Expect to take a bit of damage, but with enough lifesteal you can recover that really fast.

CW dps is ok.... IF you play a certain stupid way, which just ruins the fun out of it.

I refuse to jump on the disintegrate bandwagon. I played the class since mod 2 to be what it's role is supposed to be. Not a ranged TR.

Frankly the CW needs to just be totally reworked at this point. Frankly I would just replace with an actual true wizard class, someone that casts fireballs, polymorph, charm person, etc. An absolute waste.

Both a troublesome graphics driver and network lag can explain the problems you have with spells not firing or firing late.

    * The best way to make sure you have the latest driver is to download it directly from the graphics card vendor. Don't trust Windows Update.
    * Network issues you need to discuss with your ISP, and possibly/if possible switch ISP. Use ping and traceroute to diagnose network problems.
    * Also make sure your PC is tuned correctly and 'clean'. Turn off everything that can be turned off, don't let it start all kinds of junk at startup. Background programs etc can/will compete with your game process for CPU time.

As Llorna, I felt squishy at the start. I think all you really need to play a CW from the start is a very powerful companion. I upgrade the companion before the character. Nicholas Magnus is a CW I made to play a Spellstorm before they created the load outs. I started him with the free Thayan Illusionist at green, his companion Morbius was up graded to purple before reaching level 70. Morbius is currently orange and is a very powerful asset. I can definitely recommend any new CW needs to find a good companion to work with early on in the game.

Also about the lag (latency) issue, that is with all my characters and not just the CW. The issue, you press a key and expect something to happen, but due to a hiccup in the network the keystrokes are delayed reaching the game server and you die. Happens with all characters and not just the CW.

I have no problems with DPS on my CW. I can handle groups of mobs in PvE and drop them quickly all the way up to Chult, which I am barely ready for. I would suggest searching on the internet for builds and guides on CW's to see if your build/enchants/spells you use in battle etc. are correctly optimized.
