I don't want to sound too disappointed or ungrateful as its free stuff.
But from a player feedback point of view giving us stuff which is Bound to Account/Character such as the WInter Novelties, which you can grind very easily from the Winterfest Vendors isnt great.
Neither are 250 RP gems.
Ok it takes 10 seconds to get the parcels, but maybe in future up the rewards slightly or make them more useful?

Retraining tokens, Mass Life scrolls, Pres Ward packs plus the occasional blue or purple companion/mount drop - the drop rate on parcels is acceptable to me, particularly since they are FREE.
Yeah its free and its RNG but still I found it disappointing
I didnt even noticed announcement about this nerf so I suppose devs decided (after mod 15, class balance, winter event fishing, etc.) to spare themselves from salt and rage of players. But hey, at least I got winter wolf... three years back...
No, Im not trying to complain for getting free stuff, this is just comparing with last year.
I have already done about 300-400 (sort of lose count, so If I shared 300, that means I have received 1200. out of the 1200 or so I have recieved, opened up about 150 bags (give or take)) gifts sharing so far.. out of that, ZERO pwards out of any dropped bags.. I am sure they are there, but I do not know if its really worth the effort to do large gift sharing later. Overall, sort of a disapointment that they nerfed the bags so hard. Now, this couldve been last year, I wasnt here for last years event, but 2 years ago, I was.. and I got several dozen pwards on several toons that received.. at this current drop rate of zero %.. sounds like a drastic reduction to me.
I mean you know 2-3 hour straight sharing parties.
Its worth it to do enough to get to 20 + parcels.. not sure its worth it otherwise.
99% of what I got from the "zen store parcels" is blue junk or garbage RP. In this "entourage" the star seems to be a real prize.
Another event killed and turned into a dump of unwanted garbage.
I would rather they cancelled all events and concentrated on main game issues and bugs. Forget this pointless waste of time where you "may" get a purple useful item at a rate of

Tbh even I am getting very fed up of RNG these days.
Another great example is the rewards from the Many Coins Bank Heist pack you get sometimes. Wow a +2 companion item.
I feel there is a really monetization push going on in the game this past year. I get it, the game needs profit to keep it healthy and going but I just feel that instead of forcing people into the Zen store, actually put things in there that people want. Take Legendary mounts, Cryptic makes no money on these drops, they don't really unbalance the game, and the prices in the AD store is outrageous. Just sell them. Same with fashions, there should be all kinds of cool fashions in there.
If you want more money in the game devs, then stick Coal Wards in there for a reasonable amount of cash and trust me you WILL sell more than you do now.
Put Legendary Mounts in there as well - at $30 or something you would sell a shed-load of them.
Try selling a product for $1000 - very hard. Sell 12 per year $12k
Sell it for $100 - hard - sell 100 per year $10k
Sell it for $10 - very easy - sell 10,000 per year $100k
I don't mean to sound condescending but sometimes clever people make things seem complicated when they are actually obvious and simple.
so, this event is very sad, and hurt and betrayed. i no longer trust devs, this is 2nd strike, many are getting fed up. no one likes heavy used bad RNG.
I think I'm fine and very happy for what I receive! The gifts you obtain from Parcels [Epic] &/or Bags [Epic] can sometimes be some very nice things. But they should not be, too great, too often, either!
Still for the 'very' few people who get a Forgehammer of Gond, I met one this year who claimed he had gotten 2. I'd love to just get 1 for either of my Main's, yet the Elves will always try very hard, cause they are Elves of course.
I think Winter is one of the better events the game offers, especially to new players but even long term players!

Which means when they stop feeding us BS we will stop complaining about BS they keep feeding us. Its a closed loop thing.
simply put weeeey too many things depends on RNG that normally shouldn't. And when you have so many things randomly generated there's gonna be clashes of all kinds all the time that simply cant be fixed by tweaks and tunes.
Can anybody here remember did they ever fixed some issue that at the same time their attempt at fixing didnt actually caused more problems than it solved?
Did they ever patched something up and didn't at the same time with that same patch broke something that worked fine 'till they "fixed it"?
That what you get when you make things too dependable on RNG no matter how many fixes you make you will always break something else with your attempt at fixing.

But the complaints in this thread - my opinion - are BOGUS. My personal data - I have 10 alts running Winter Fest daily since it's start on 12/21 (Parcel and Astrology/Star of Fortune quest). In that time, I've manage to pull down 10 Pres Ward packs (100 total), about 10 Retraining tokens, and a few mounts - green (pig, sled) and blue (neverwinter charger), and a pretty good cross section of green / blue / purple companions (redcap, alchemist, rimefire golem), as well as random blue junk to sell for gold or refine for RP, not to mention the Stars I can either spend on a Yeti Mount or save up for next year.
For a completely free giveaway - I'm good with what I've gotten. Those of you who want to complain about how lame the free gifts/RNG are - they're FREE. You don't spend a singe AD or Zen to get them.
If you don't want them, skip the festival. And go complain about a REAL issue (because they are out there)....like the fact we are still waiting on another class, 4 years later (OP was the last new one). Or another new race....almost, what, 5 years later (dragonborn was the last new one).
Why new race/class? So you could play all the lame content all over again?
what game need its NEW content. there is so much locations in the world of Toril we have yet to visit in this game. Waterdeep for example. Silver Marches and Silverymoon just to name a few.
But that require CREATIVE work you know ..but what we got is Barovia that very well could be made by some a bit more talented amateur using Foundry and we got Hearth of Fire that allow us to oh revisit parts of previously cleared regions all over again in a bit different setting. AS point of fact theres some Foundry quest that are way better than both Barovian and HoF arcs and those were made by amatuers... for free.
I stated several times already and it seems that i have to state it yet again. What most players want is NOT free stuff and handouts . I don't mind free..no one does. but it doesn't matter when game doesn't reward players for their time and effort they put in game. It only rewards luck and most of us aren't lucky. Like beating a tough dungeon and instead of getting your effort rewarded you get random junk from the wider list of random junk.and ofc we got reroll tokens so we can select and pick and choose which package of random junk we are going to take then rinse and repeat this several hundred or even several thousand times over and you are going to get fed up with random junk. What you want and what most of us want is real measurable gain..not chance at gain that may never trigger if you are unlucky. its also primary reason why we don't play most of the dungeons..end random reward junk simply doesn't justify time and effort spent in completion.
Its fundamentally different when you get for example after completion of CN a random selection of GMOPs SMOPs UMOPs SESs UESs and similar and random JUNK so if i would 100% get from CN chest at least 1 GMOP and at least 10K RADs i wouldn't mind if i could only run CN once per day and then have 20 hour CD.
You wont see me criticizing Foundry quests made by other players for free..they were NOT PAID to do it..Developers are paid for their work ..paid with money we spend on the game so we have all the right to criticize everything that we don't like.
SO if enough of us "unionize" and decide that we dont spend a single cent on the game for the next 3 months ..what do you think how quickly devs will pull their heads out of their respective holes and fix things they messed up..

Nothing is more saddening then having a good gifting run once in a blue moon, only to realise that you can throw most of your loot away, since you allready got the same character bound stuff last year...
Btw. i did pull a rare Water Horse from a bag which was labled "binds on equip", which is a bit strange since most items from bags are "character bound", while Staldorf from a parcel was "character bound", this is really confusing.
What you stated is "insightful" if this game has player driven economy and this game does not have that kind of economy value of items here is determined by the RNG drop rates and luck not supply and demand mechanism. Its NOT up to me to make more stuff that is on high demand cause i don't have that option. For example can i craft legendary mounts? they are on high demand buy supply isn't determined by anything that i can or can not do but by bloody RNG. It is ARTIFICALLY limited supply that keeps the prices of items insanely high.
Take for example i dunno Swarm mount..i think the current price is around 12 million AD that is in current conversion rate 240$ thats brand new gtx 1060 with which you gonna have a lot more fun playing than with Swarm mount so lets be realistic here. economically speaking devs would make a lot more money selling those mount for realistic price in zens store than sellin keys. somtimes they do make a gem in zen store..once in a decade or so..like chultan tiger companion for example how many did they sold? and they are keep selling them they are valuable not beacause they are kept artifically rare through lousy server tweaked RNG but by actually being valuble unto itself you know..useful. so that 25$ worth companion is from usfulnes POW far more useful than any 250$ or 300$ priced legendary mount. and that said just by using simple cost/gain comparison.
When i mention crafting ..people who had MW developed made a killing on AH since craft revamp..but prices are steadilly geting normalized..so if i'm a new player who have to yet make crafting up to MW standards and finally become able to craft and trade in those items how high priced they are going to be like 6 months from now? so if im new player i'm already cheated by devs because i can never make that kind of income but it will surely cost me same amount of resources to craft those items. But this is something that has some normal economical dynamics and no one really complains about it because people who got their MW squared up EARNED IT by investing lotta time and effort into it.
Pulling Legendary mount out of lockbox is a valuble trading item that costs million of AD..how they who did it earned it? with what? Luck? They spend 2000$ on keys? how many people there actually did spend 2000$ on keys? its seems its the most valuble thing in game you can posses..if you are lucky you get everything your gameplay is more fun and pleasurable if you are unlucky you can only compensate with doing more attempts which is further and further frustrating time consuming and unpleasurable and you keep lagging behind more and more. More attempt don't improve ones chance at getting something that rely on RNG to be spawned and that is what really sux in this game and similar games.
Gameplay suppose to be fun activity and it is ..if you happen to be favoured by RNG tweaks they constantly make on server side of things. because it appears they are constantly messing with RNG on server side
Is there a way to turn off that server message that notify all of us that somebody got something out of lockbox..its cheap and dirty psyhological and marketing trick.. perhaps it does have an effect on weak minded so they pull out their credit cards and spend 2000$ on keys right away
Starlight Parcels, the daily and ZEN market items.. appear to drop what they always frequently drop, I see a general "acceptable award" (IE the retrain tokens, scrolls, pwards, refiners) about 10% of the time, and around 10% for other seasons (generally useless rewards) after that its all blue junk.. no one cares about the blue junk, or a random rp stone.. of general useless function.. So you have about a 10% chance at a useful item, a 10% chance at basically a ok cosmetic item or maybe even one of the less useless companions (though most are pretty useless) .. then like 80% chance at a rp stone or a blue equipment or a scarf.. which no one cares about.
THE STARLIGHT bags.. those you get from the shared gifting and have ALL bind to character drops basically, are what many of us are seeing as having a nerfed drop rate.. I have done enough this year (2-300 or so gifts BAGS opened (not just sharing gifts, we are talking about a few thousand gifts shared to get to that 2-300 bags) opened and ZERO pwards) to see that there is no way they haven't adjusted things on this.. At that current drop rate of 0%.. I will get 0% bound pwards.. I am sure I would probably get a few dozen here and there.. but is it worth my time to stand around for awhile hoping for a few of them? I think not
It is not bogus feedback.. its what many of us are seeing the BAGS from gifting are to the point of being pointless, other then to get to 20 parcels.. so you can have a chance at a unbound item.
Here is the problem, so much of this feedback keeps on mixing up the two issues.
Issue one, if you want to even call it a issue, is with limited PARCELS you have a chance of getting nothing.. because of rng, you basically have to have a alt army to make this work..
Issue two.. BAGS have apparently been nerfed to the ground.. making them only useful to get to 20 parcels.
I see issue two as a FEEDBACK issue.. as in IE.. what make us stand around for hours for basically almost no reason.,
I understand many of us got a years worht of pwards in the past out of this.. but hey, we spent hours upon hours grinding and sharing to do that.. Now you take it away to sell more zen items.. =P.. I guess its your right, but its still a bit lousy that you didnt announce it before hand, before many of us wasted our time.
IN GENERAL sharing gifts is now almost pointless.. or more to the point, only impacts your daily parcel amount.. and no longer worth the time to have massive hour sharing parties as far as I can determine.
had not seen much mounts and companions. some green prizes are acceptable but the low tier gems, we can get those from Sharandar and Dread Ring rewards.
we dont want scarf on prize list, they need to move back to holiday vendors, if they miss anything, and they can get anytime during festival events.
as Kreatyve said, flooding the AH isnt good and cheapen become "junks". better market flow stay healthy.
so, i may have ideas to offer, some trash items should be taken out and place in holiday vendors.
and then add your suggestions for next 2019 winter festival.
my example that i like to see.
1. Genie's Gift (tradeables)
2. random 2 sockets companion gear (rings and necklaces only)/bound on pick up.
3. 1 companion token
4. fish bait, 15 mins duration (only use in twilight tor)
5. random high quality insignas (no greens) chances for a blue or purple (bound on pick ups)
if you have any other ideas, please feel free to add.
most people also want the price of pres wards to plummet so they can upgrade all their enchants on the cheap :-)
