Smartest way to spend Zeny?

baradur03baradur03 Member Posts: 21 Arc User
Hi,

I'm planning on spending $50 on the Black Friday event to get some zenys. But I have no idea as to what would be a smart way to spend them. I don't want to waste them on cosmetics or companions, etc. I rather aim to BiS gear, stats, or if you think spending on AD to in the end earn more AD, I'm eager to hear you out.

Thanks for your time!

Buy a wanderer's fortune mount and VIP. You've told us nothing of what you have or what your class is btw, so we can't tell ya jack HAMSTER.

I'm an old player who just came back to play. Level 67 already, so I won't have any lvl 70 items at all. Aprox 500k AD at the moment (I don't really remember if this is decent or close to nothing).
I have a epic mount already, that's why I'm not looking for mounts.

I'm playing my trickster rogue, aiming at pvp mainly, because I always end up there. I guess enchantments are going to be the hardest things for me to get.
Last time I played there were no legendary items around. So this is all too new for me. I'm gonna read some guides about it, but this black friday event is now, so I will purchase $50 and later see were to spend it depending on what I read and what opinions I get here.

Just in case you wouldn't know, don't buy anything today. There will most likely be a large discount on the zen shop tomorrow (it was 40% last year).

The Wolf of the Wild Hunt and the Gilded Giant Spider unlock the insignia boni Gladiator's Guile and Wanderer's Fortune, which both are must-haves. The mounts bought from the zen shop are account-wide unlocks (you can "buy" the mount on each of your alts for free) making them very good investment for a new player.

Apart from that, you can't go wrong with a few character slots (if you don't have 8 yet) and stacks of preservation wards.

Thanks for the tip! I will wait until tomorrow then.

    1. Don't buy anything from zen store unless there is a discount. If you can't wait for the big sales, don't buy anything unless you have a coupon. There "should" be one on tomorrow, Monday and in Christmas ("personal" speculation based on past experience).
    2. Once a while there is a 80% off character slot sales.
    3. Wanderer's fortune can be obtained from the easy to get and free Griffin from Siege event which is run quite often.
    4. Winter (festival) is coming. Mount that has Gladiator's guile can be dropped in that event such as Apparatus of Gond, Dawn Unicorn, Heavy Mystic Nightmare.
    5. Stack of p-wards is always a safe bet. With the current Zax situation, you can even sell them for a profit.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***

In the beginning, an account wide mount, VIP and bag space is very needed and good things to spend money on imo...You won't get BiS with $50. And 500K AD does not go far either :(

If you have a lot of alts on your account then the best purchase is a mount as that mount will cost 0 zen for all your alts thereafter.

If you intend to only ever play with one, then a good thing you could spend your zen on is a race reroll token, this is not just to change your race, but even more importantly, it is the only way to reroll your initial ability stats (that most probably did not roll right at the start). You can also spend your zen to unlock the dragonborn race, which is generally considered the BIS race. Both these tokens are not available on the auction, and they are a really good investment as they are a permanent improvement to your toon that other zen purchases cannot guarantee you, for example the changes to the refinement system meant that having a huge amount of bag space for the x2 refinement event is not as important). If you do decide to buy the race reroll token, obviously make sure that you have done enough research to know exactly what starting stats you want to go for.

To repeat what others have said:
    * A mount from the Zen store, preferrably with Wanderers fortune, but also a +power one will do. These are account wide and very nice to have as you probably will want to add alts later on.
    * VIP - as much as you can afford. VIP rewards get better as you level up your VIP level, up to max 10 or so. The more VIP you can buy initially the more benefit you will get. You need to consider how long you plan on playing the game though.
    * Character slots for alts. Alts are valuable for invoking, doing leadership, getting around RQ lockouts, and just for having fun with other classes.

These cannot be bought off AH for AD later, so it is good to get them out of the way :) (But note you can buy Zen off he ZAX for AD to get these later)

I do not agree that a Wanderer's Fortune mount is always the best choice. The thing is, yes, you do want a mount with that bonus for every character, but you can get one for free during the Neverwinter Siege event.

Look at which mounts give you both an equip bonus and an useful insignia bonus for your classes and builds. For example, if you stack Power, the Guard drake is a really good choice - +2000 Power and the Shepherd's Devotion insignia bonus.
    Hoping for improvements...

The thing is, cheapest WF mount is blue, while cheapest +2k power mount is purple, can't remember the prices. That means he'd have to spend more on something he arguably doesn't currently need. It's a great bonus, sure, but is it really a must have?
