I have Coalescent Ward

unangwataunangwata Member Posts: 183 Arc User
So I noticed I have bound Coalescent Ward. I see they sell for like 500k. So I wonder how should I best use it, since it is so expensive.
Upgrade 9 useless weapon enchants into functioning one ? But they sell for 200k I think, rank 7 isn't it ?
So what else ?

Personal use. Whatever weapon or armor enhancement you have or want to have, use it there. That 1% hurts.

But if those enchants sell for 200-300k then why the wards sell for 500 ?
The top rank enchant is not 300K.
The 300K enchant was not made using c-ward. Probably, from a lockbox.

You didn't mention using it for artifact gear - which is good. Don't waste C.Wards on artifact gear - esp. in the new system I've found the upgrade process seems a little less ornery - P. Wards work just fine.

So for weapon/armor enchants - the question is how much AD do you want to spend on an enchant? I've found that up to at least Greater (level 9) - it's way cheaper to buy than to build for most enchants.

If you don't have enough AD to buy the level 9 (at least) enchant you want - I'd suggest keeping the C.Ward until you do. Buying a level 8 enchant and using the C Ward to upgrade to level 9 really doesn't pencil out as good value.

At this point, unless you get REALLY bad RNG....using a cward on anything higher than 1% probably isn't going to be a good choice. Chances are that you'll get a success within 100 tries, which is about what the equivalent to a cward is (100 pwards to 1 cward cost wise).

Even for 3% (and I just burned 86 wards on a 3%) its still worth it to use pwards. It sucks to have to keep clicking, but its what you have to do.

Dread disagrees with you. Those things were never really cheap at any stage.

I used 4 bound ones last night to start getting my OP ready for random queue. I made a Perfect barkshield and Perfect Lightning :)

People gamble on Preservation wards, hoping that in 50 - 100 attempts they will get lucky.

Talking from a probability theory point of view(and this will be correct in the long run):
For 1% chance upgrades use a Coal ward
For 3% and higher chance upgrades use Preservation wards

That will give you the cheapest upgrades in the long run.

As for the price of Coal wards and weapon/armor enchants: Since you cannot sell it on the AH, a bound Coal ward is not worth 500k AD. The bound state reduces the value heavily. A bound Coal is worth what you can get for using it to make something, which usually is an armor/weapon enchant.

You most certainly will want to upgrade some 1% things sooner or later, so I'll recommend just keep it in bank until you find a good spot to use it.
