I mean over here in the UK the servers have been down for pretty much our entire afternoon and evening... the peak times most UK and european players are on. It's kind of a HAMSTER take really, I had planned on buying some packs etc today and leveling my new toon, but now I won't be able to play due to being up early in the morning. Thanks Cryptic...

Cryptic staff are in California and the servers are in Boston, and the people across the country would have to be able to collaborate. How could it not be during normal business hours?

It'd be nice if they mixed it up a bit tbh, to give other people from around the world a chance to actually play during peak times. Then to apparently add another hour onto it without even being updated by any1 except some dude who saw it on his launcher... come on cryptic. We don't even get any information on Ps4's about downtime etc, just one message "connecting to account server" then "connection timed out"

I see XB1/PS4 got extended 2 hours as opposed to the 1 hr delay the PC got. Cue angry console mobs in 3, 2, 1.....oh wait, is there enough of a player base remaining on console to qualify as an angry mob?

Tbh I grew out of PC gaming, maybe back in 2000, it's all about relaxing on a console now
And a lot of games now if they are going to do extended maintenance they tend to do it overnight in the States, like maybe 2am or so. At least then the UK and Europe would have the evening to play.

Sadly as it looks now i will have 2 hours(10pm-12pm) to play in todays "game day" that is if it is back up in 20 minutes. my mod 12b prep is taking a nice decent hit today

yesterday I was able to play games smoothly with the internets that I could improve a bit by buying a fixed rope. I hope there will be no lag problems or ping problems anymore.
Best server maintenance time for US based dev team is a mid week morning. Lowest player base, all support personal is in office. Any glitches following the maintenance could be resolved promptly before end of day. Ideally you should do a staged rollout where only a portion of your servers is offline at any time so the users could continue using your system all the time, but that requires a more expensive software design and is not always possible or feasible.
Honestly, I don't see the issue. It's maintenance. Which is probably much needed for all Cryptic games. People are always saying, I quote, " They never fix anything, this game is so laggy, " or my favorite, " The servers are ****. " So how about we all sit wherever we are patiently and quietly, with respect for the developers and tech teams while they work on the hardware we all love to complain so much about? Hmm? Or you can complain about them fixing things which is quite frankly stupid. Work takes time, not just for you. Nothing happens in a vacuum.
^^sounds a good idea, why dont they just take a snapshot / copy of the game from the servers, easy enuff. Then they can do maintenance in their own time, once completed, servers go down while the game is re uploaded back to the servers, 30min max downtime

Will I be reimbursed for my VIP rewards???? Missing out on quite a bit today. If you're going to extend it by several hours, say that instead of adding an hour every hour. Be realistic, otherwise you're just irritating people.
Wow...The reading skill is seriously underused these days. The notices, if you read them, clearly said that this was an ARC network maint outage. Multiple games on multiple platforms. This outage is the servers themselves being tweaked, moved, replaced ETC. It surprises me not in the least that this has gone past the original window. In my experience with older servers, it isn't unusual to have some of the more venerable ones go to a quiet death when upgrades require rebooting. At the least, near death experiences are to be expected, with prayers and blood sacrifices required to bring the ancient back to service once more.
