Unable to equip previously equipped items to companions

I bought Xuna for cheap on the AH, equipped her, used purple tomes to level max, upgraded to orange, levelled max, unsommoned and resummoned, tried to equip rings and companion belt/neck to no avail. They had just been on my Air Archon. I tried various things including rebooting, still unable to equip to Xuna. I then put Xuna into companion barn and summoned my trusty Air Archon.. I am unable to equip rings and anything to any of my active companions now for 2 hrs. No idea what is up. Doesn't matter if summoned or not cannot equip anything to any companion. Equipping my r12 bondings back and forth works though.

    Go figure. I took all of my companions and put them into the barn, then re-slotted all companions. Was able to gear my primary companion.

    Putting the bugged companion idle and then active again would usually do the trick.
