Cant play with my friends

gankdalf#8991 gankdalf Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 930 Arc User
I was on a break from the game for 2 months or so and now when Im back I cant play with my friends because I have to spend X weeks to unlock the Svarborg before I can join. And by the time I do unlock it, my friends will already have what they need from it.

I do my dailies in like 20 min and after that I cant play anything else because there is nothing else to play. Im starting to ask myself, why do I want to come back? Im not a soloplayer.

Gating stuff behind a time-wall is bad.

Coming back in the middle of a module wasn't about being smart. It was about not being able to play the game for a while because it was so boring. I had to take time off.

Regarding the "catch up game" sure, its fine to catch up on gear, boons etc. Not catching up to unlock the new dungeon. Its very wrong. There is NOTHING to do besides the few quests everyday in the new mod. After that Im just sitting here rolling my thumbs while my friends grinds the new unlocked boss.

I did give the HEs in the new zone a try. Did about 15 of them in a row. Got nothing. Time well spent. And its still lagging like hell so even if they were fun to run, you wouldn't know because of the lag. Also gave fishing a try. For 40 min i sat there fishing. Got nothing (yes Im doing it right). I also did the treasure maps (like 50 of them) the first 1-2 days. Got my purple boat and fishing thingy.

If the game had more than one dungeon/module then maybe people could keep busy. As soon as a new mod comes out, all the old dungeons and content gets outdated. FBI was launched with outdated loot (or at least very bad loot that is not worth the time).

I have been playing when you were not and I have not reached FBI. So, nothing new. I would say more than 80% of the population has not yet reached FBI for one reason or other. Your friends are in an elite group. Average player probably cannot keep up with them even if they have been playing.

Must say, they are some awful friends if they wont help you farm marks once you unlock SVA. I'm behind at the moment but all of my group have said they'll farm it like mad to get my toons through so they can get their weapons.

You do know that the key to the SoMI is a quest in Bryn Shander that sends you there and you can skip the Bryn Shander/Lonelywood/Cold Run content, but you probably don't want to because getting to 800 Bryn Shander reputation without the Bryn Shander/Lonelywood/Cold Run dailies/weeklies.

Maybe you need new friends if you are so sure they won't help you. Sounds like not Cryptic's fault.

Im not saying they wont help me. Im saying I have nothing to do in this game for 2-3 weeks while waiting to unlock. And for my friends it will be a boring experience having to help me after they already grinded the hell out of it.

IDK how you can do the dailys in 20 mins. Bryn Shander, Lonelywood, Cold Run, And SoMI all have quests for the reputation you need to unlock svad. I guess if your already a 4k toon with bondings, you can get BS done in 20 mins. but idk how you can get SoMI done in 20 specially when you spend that much time sailing between the 4 islands. not to mention traveling time between the areas, getting quests and turning them in.... 4 dailys in each, 16 dailys, something doesnt add up here.

On another note, I have friends that are lvl <60 and i run dungeons....you know regular dungeons not epics, no skirmishes just good old dungeons...with them all the time for the items, just to help them be ready for the 60-70 grind. i have ran Drowned shores probally 150 times on my 2 level 70s. not cause i needed to but because they needed to level and its the best for level 60. To boost that i normally run SR at least 2 full times a week. why cause after completing DS they can go to SR and they can get their arti weapon and have something ok for level 70. so if your "Friends" cant run a few times with you.....i would do what others have suggested and get some new friends.

Why would I do 4 in each? I do all in SoMI and then one in each in Bryn, Lonelywood, Cold Run. Okay 20 might have been a bit low, maybe 30 min. 5 min for each quest sounds about right. And yes Im maxed with everything.

My point is that this game should make it easier to catch up with friends regarding content (not gear/boons etc). This downtime after a short break from the game is really bad.

Your math is way off. There are two "wrapper" dailies which each involves running three quests. You can opt for the fastest completion in Bryn, Cold Run, and Lonelywood, and get Defending the Dale done that way (final unlocked version is 1 quest/zone). Additional dailies here are only good for extra currency if you want/need it, or you can have multiple quests ready to turn in and dole them out one by one. If you have very fast quests available, it takes 20 minutes or less to do all three zones.

In Sea of Moving ice, you get no choice of which quests to do in a day, and it can be a toss-up how fast you can get them done, especially if the fishing goes badly. Signpost travel helps because you don't have to sail back to turn in, just signpost away and back. Luck be with you, this is also roughly a 20 minute completion.

Yes, this is more or less what I do too. I don't like loneywood quest. Loneywood environment gives me more headache than BS.
Hence, I only do one per day. Usually, whatever close to the camp site. For Cold Run and BS, I probably would also do one per day but I do collect quests from all 3 zones.

For the day I prefer to do more, I would do many quests in one shot. They can be tasks that overlap each other and in the close area. i.e. more efficient. I do similar things in other zones such as WoD, SH, etc.
