Totally. Them being held on whichever character opens a lockbox is just cheap - and probably a bit lazy.

I would vote for this as well, along with a bunch of other character only currencies. Why not open those up to be account wide so this game becomes just a little more alt-friendly?
Yes, make it happen. Just another case of the poor design behind this game. Absolutely no reason that these coins should be BtC other than they want you to buy keys to open boxes on different toons.

There is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from moving their companion boxes (not bound, requires no keys) to whichever character has current greatest need of the tokens. You just have to plan it. Nobody is being forced to open lockboxes on multiple characters to get companion tokens
That said, it would be far more player-friendly to implement a way of making these a shared resource as it is very easy to obtain them in strange unusable quantities (by hitting the jackpot when you need fewer than 32 to hit an upgrade).
Sure, there is nothing stopping you from moving the boxes around, however, what about if you happen to only need 10 tokens to get to legendary and get 30? Now you have 20 useless tokens that could have been used on another character if they were account-bound.
Neverwinter is one of the more alt-unfriendly games out there, that was even acknowledged a while ago in a dev interview... any little changes, like making some character-bound currencies account-bound, would be a step in the right direction!
Yes you can move the boxes around, but that's imprecise and clumsy. And also if they decide to hit the class you are currently working on with a huge nerfhammer, all of those tokens you were saving up whither and die.
I suppose the ultimate approach would be to keep the boxes unopened until you think you have enough to upgrade the companion... but that's just getting ridiculous, right? right? i guess not by NW standards...

dont forget, those WoD (Tyranny of dragons) from zen market also need to be account wide, it was too hard to get last 2 boons, even my main cant get it
I agree with this, plus the Sword Coast Defence or whatever it's called, currency to get the transmute armor sets. I think 4,000 for one set is a bit much for one toon to do.

They changed that, now if you unlock a certain set, ie: Dread Legion, on your CW, its unlocked for every other toon, you just have to put the armor chest in your account shared bank, then open it on your other toon that you want to unlock it, you will get the "dread legion cw armor set" discard that, go to the campaign store for maze engine, and you will be able to reclaim the armor set for that toon
as for companions, i would want to see a new edition of "Companions' Adventures" like STO's duty officer assignment, so we can earn companion upgrade tokens and pet gears. send them out, and in few hours later when they return with results of succeeding base on thier own rank tiers.
the tiers of missions green missions > 3 to 6 hours, earn 5 tokens, upgradeable green items with craftings blue missions > 5 to 10 hours, earn 8 tokens, upgradeable blue items with craftings purple missions > base on daily timed shedule missions, some takes 12-15 hrs, others takes 20 hours, longer the missions, the better to earn 10-12 tokens, random purple pet gears, customized with craftings, rank 7 or better ranks runes. legendary mission (orange) > one selected random daily elite missions per day, earns 15 tokens, random XP Comp Tome, and a chance of new elite currency only for pet vendors.

+1 for this too!
I've been irked by the possibility of "my main might need those tokens" many times and having the habit of opening them during every 2x, it would be easier if they change the tokens to BoA like they did with the tradebars so we wouldn't have to hit ourselves in the head over and over with a single misstep in planning!
I mean, you never know when and which the next BiS companion will be, for now I just throw in all on my main char incase anything happen. But it would be nice if I can move the excess to my alt for example, instead of having to stack those boxes up even though I have more than needed on my main. =
Professions are the equivalent of STO's duty officer assignments even if Professions are significantly less useful that duty officer assignments are. It's just yet another example of a system that wasn't don't as well as STO.
Long story short, I opened some boxes on the wrong character and didn't realize it until it was done. After fiddling around, I came to realize there is no function for transferring them. How come are these non-transferable? Any reason for it or just something that no one has asked for?.
We can share trade bars through the bank and I suggest to do the same with the upgrade tokens. It's not like we get these often, their rarity is enough justification for them being valid account wide.
Thank you good sir for your attention and understanding.
Mod 12b is the best time to make this happen along with all the other streamlining going on! This would make the perfect QoL improvement to compliment the other new changes!

I'm bumping this suggestion because I too have characters with one or two tokens and characters missing one or two tokens. It would be nice to combine them into our bank.

Bad time for you to bump this old thread, as this is already added to mod14.

This is a good idea whose time is coming in Mod 14. June 26, after maintenance and downloading the new mod, you will be able to transfer companion upgrade tokens to the shared bank and then redistribute them amongst your characters as needed.

As a work-around, I always open the box-in-the-lockbox that grants tokens on one specific that has a companion in need of an upgrade.
Cumbersome and shouldn't be necessary but it's the best strategy for now.
