We will be performing shard maintenance on October 19th from 5:00am to 12:00pm Pacific (12:00-19:00 UTC).
Arc Scheduled Downtime 10/19/16 Arc will be undergoing a scheduled maintenance at 5AM Pacific on 10/19/2016. The maintenance will be for approximately 7 hours. Our engineers will be performing server updates and upgrades during which some web services and games may be delayed or temporarily unavailable. If additional time is needed, we will provide up-to-date information through our social channels, this news page and Arc client emergency message system.
Okay so here we go guys! I have been a fan of Neverwinter long before it arrived on Xbox One (which is my primary gaming console). I, along with many others have been waiting months for this newest expansion (StormKings Thunder) to be installed on Xbox One. Now after the long wait for the release (yesterday) and the long wait for the download and install, which didn't complete until this morning on both mine and my wife's consoles, we tried logging in only to find that the servers will not allow us to. It appears there was a scheduled maintenance on the servers that will take up to 7 hours but MAY take longer. So my questions to the devs, that will more than likely NOT be answered, is this.....Why would you not update and upgrade the servers before today? Why wait until the day after a major expansion to update them? This is very upsetting and frustrating that after all this waiting around for something new on Neverwinter we now have to wait even longer.
Yep that is what I read to get the info about the scheduled down time but I still would love to know why today of all days? Right after a major and highly awaited expansion......just don't understand their logic. lol
The fact that they dropped the service note after the expansion was released and they major issues on ps4 I believe they decided to upgrade and launch more servers, heck most of yesterday there were only three instances for any area I was in and usable there are 20 so I think there were issues all around
I noticed that as well last night as the wife's install went faster than mine and she was able to jog on for a bit. I would assume that they did not expect so many returning players directly after the expansion but SHOULD have expected as much. I mean the game for Xbox One had gone stale and many peeps stopped playing for this exact reason. The expansion was bound to get peeps back to the game and I find it hard to believe they did not anticipate this. My teenage son could have prepared better for this type of issue. Then again many say they don't really care about the Xbox users anymore anyways so why bother right?
It's a good job that "many say..." doesn't mean "factually speaking" then. PC threads have long said the same about XB,and more recently PC and it won't be long before PS4 players are saying the same about both PC and XB.
I wish I was confidant enough to sit in judgement over something without knowing the facts. I'm too scared of looking stupid if I'm subsequently proved wrong.
The thing is that, while it seems kinda dumb to do this atm in the eyes of NW's Xbox and PS4 users, Arc doesn't have dedicated servers for each of their titles afaik, so it might make sense for Star Trek, Livelock and even in anticipation for the release of Gigantic.
Also, the lag has been insufferable for the last week or so, I hope it gets better after this.
Yes I said "many say" due to the fact that there is no ACTUAL proof, at least to my knowledge, that they favor one or the other but the fact remains that this maintenance could have been planned better and completed sooner, that is all.

Guess I should've read your entire post, instead of just the title...lol. Why today? Not sure... I agree it makes no sense to put out an expansion, just to shut the game down for like half the day. I have no problems with them fixing their servers...hopefully for the better...but this could've been planned better...like why not just do it yesterday while the servers were already down. Technically...there's no "best" time, bc there's ppl playing all over the world, so some regions are gonna suffer more than others. Well...its only a few hrs away, so its only a matter of time before we find out if these server updates prove beneficial
So long as the game runs better I do not mind waiting a bit longer after work to get the dailies done that matter, I was noticing some pretty bad lag in the new area Bryn Shandar so hopefully this will help remove that. Hopefully Xbox will get a better allocation and smoother game play when it comes online.
