No pre-patch?

Is it just me or there are no pre patch this time?

    Are they now working on the new module to the last minute, and that's the reason why there is no pre patch available?
    Or can someone at least tell us the full size of this patch?
    I do believe in killing the messenger...

    Go patch up Preview - it will get the vast bulk of the new updates that way. If the patcher can mirror files from other local versions, it will do that rather than download them. So, even if it SAYS 3GB, if the current versions of updated files are already living in Preview, they'll copy over to Live instead, so patching up Preview is nearly the same as pre-patching. It's not 100% since sometimes are changes that hit the build between the last Preview patch and the Live patch... but it's better than nothing.

    Really, the launcher will copy the latest patch data from Preview? Interesting! :)

    I wonder why when I installed Preview it didn't just copy the Live install and then patch that instead of downloading all the data files again? :(

    It probably did to some extent. But it only copies files that are the same in the manifest, so if the file is different it will download it from the server. When you see the progress bar jump, typically that's an indication that it mirrored a file rather than actually downloading it.

    When there is a pending module update on Preview, there are A LOT of differences between it and Live, so there probably isn't as much mirroring happening in that direction. However, if you have an up-to-date Preview, when that build goes Live, the files will end up being similar and it will drastically speed up your patch time. As I said, it won't be 100%, but it will be much faster than having to download everything.

    Hmm, I was pretty sure it just straight-up downloaded the entire game when I installed Preview, but I can't say 100% for sure as I didn't sit there and watch it like a hawk or anything. ;)

    I guess they usually have a pre-patch, however, I have actually disabled the whole "download and patch in the background" setting as I prefer the "one and done" patch method instead!

    Still a little more then 1 hour before the new mod, and i started the game back up and it's patching something.
