question about contracts in Icewind Dale

Starting on Saturday I noticed I could only pick up the Heroic Encounters mission "Icewind Dale: Demon Hunting". I went and did my other things for the day and when I came back to Icewind Dale I noticed I couldn't even teleport to Dwarven Valley or Icewind Pass because I "had no contract". This got me to the realization that this is the reason I could no longer grab the missions.

Now it's Sunday and the same thing happened, my contract with AB is gone. I had to pick it up again to grab any missions.

My question is why did it suddenly change, or was it broken before? I was trying to get into BT a while ago and I couldn't find a mission for it and just gave up trying to get in. Yesterday when my contract was revoked automatically I was able to grab the mission. That means I could have saved money on some genie's gifts all this time. In addition to the BT mission there's the "Needless Distractions" mission which also could have saved me money on coins. Not only this, but I could have my final boon by now if this was resetting each day in the past because these missions give out reputation and I'm close to getting the final boon.

So what's the normal way this should work? Should contracts be resetting daily like they have been for me the past 2 days or is it normal for contracts to not reset at all?

    The contract is only supposed to reset if you do not go to icewind dale for a set amount of time or have an active mission. I believe there is a description of how it works when you talk to Bowen Brant in Caer Conig.

    Just start each day in Icewind by visiting Bowen Brant (or the Arcane Brotherhood person). If your contract expired, you can sign up again. If not, you need to pick up Safe Keeping anyway.

    If your contract expires, it's not a big deal, just sign up again.

    It's a big deal because the contract expiring every day means more rewards. Every day I've been to Icewind Dale the contract hasn't reset besides this last Saturday and Sunday. Today it didn't reset. I'm "not in the map" the same amount of time every day. Nothing is changing in the way I'm playing but for some reason it reset both days this past weekend. I would prefer if it reset every day because it gives more rewards, so I'm not worried about it not resetting.

    It says when you're logged out for 12 hours it expires.

    It doesn't effect the rewards. You get a set number of missions & rewards every day and they all reset daily at the same time regardless of whether you have to pick up a new contract or not.

    Don't worry about the details of when a contract expires, just check you have one at the start of the day.

    One note, if you have active PvP campaign quests when your contract expires, these will automatically drop. There are only two revolving daily missions anyway.

    It doesn't affect anything else.

    As was mentioned, the contract expires if you dont log into that toon for longer than 12 hours. I log my toons in for invokes both morning and night and contract hasnt expired for 4 months and ongoing. Anyone that had opened IWD would know they need a contract (it was explained in the intro), and you should know to collect the contract if you don't have one.
