Demonic Escape… yeah just go, its fine

While you are looking at your logs take a peek at the stats surrounding the Heroic Encounter “Demonic Escape”. No one does it.

I cannot give hard stats as to why, but I suspect you are up against some kind of psychology there. You are constantly losing in the HE. The metric is how bad are you losing over time. Metrics for all the others are in terms of winning over time, numbers killed rather than numbers lost.

Or it could be that it is at the farthest end of the Dread Ring. Either way its just a pain to have to wait for it to cycle through the timeout so we can all do the real HEs.

Most times I have to go up and trigger it and then just wait through it so I can get some HEs with better participation.

My suggestion is to consider something more active rather than the “stop then from escaping paradigm”. Stay true to the “winning over time” mechanic. Everyone likes that much more.

As of the end of this missive I am off to reset the Dread Ring HE cycle again. C’mon gang, you can fix this.

Nobody does dread ring HE's, other than slaughter, because the instance sizes are small. It's hard to get the 9+ people, or even a small number who understand how to do the non-slaughter ones, when you max out at 15 by default. Well of Dragons is where people usually go for demonic HEs. And the reason they still don't bother with escape is because there's no way to speed it up. A success takes the same amount of time regardless of what happens. The only way to speed up its completion is to intentionally fail it. And unlike the other two, you can't necessarily succeed by just wantonly attacking anything you see. Sometimes that makes a mob run straight into the forbidden zone. Additionally, on the silver stage the long-range of invisibility makes the shadow demons an extreme nuisance, since if multiple people aren't regularly patrolling then they'll just slip by untouched, which is pretty easy with the small number of participants relative to the number of portals and size of the area. Silver is actually the hardest stage, and most efficient way to do it (on any stage) is to just stand there and tank every non-enraged ape at once for a few minutes. And given the tendency for everyone to just wantonly attack everything they see, we've got a double threat plus no reward for efficiency.

So I guess that is another meditation on why no one does Demonic Escape. I see it as a reset for the cycle. Just go tag a mob and stand in the light. Its the fastest way to get it off the map and on with the other HEs.

And while I see the idea of wantonly attacking anything you see being put forth pejoratively, I am pretty sure we all know that the HE's are there for the grinding. You have to run at least 37 gold engagements to get drow underwear (sans AD). So if we are going to be grinding anyway, at least make the process one we can enjoy.

It takes just as long to trigger it and wait as it does to trigger it and TRY. I've soloed it easily.

you're in error there it takes 1 min to fail, and 5 to win.... not exactly the same duration but I admit compared to the 15 when the HE stands iddle it's an improvement

If its the one where demons rush to the middle, its not done most likely cause it takes longer than others. At least it seems that way.

It does take longer because there is no way to make it faster by doing well at it. You can kill all the demons in Slaughter and prevent the Harper from taking damage well enough to charge up in Closure significantly faster than 5 minutes. Escape, you are stuck with that 5-minute timer. It's not conducive to fast farming, AND you can spend nearly 5 minutes at trying to prevent demons from escaping for all you're worth and still have someone kitten it up and fail it. In a game that relies so much on grinding as much as possible in as short a time as possible, Escape feels like a horrible waste of time.

And you can spend 10 minutes trying to find an instance that has Closure or Slaughter up, instead of the 5 minutes dealing with Escape.

And don't get me started on people that insist on doing Closure like it is Slaughter when there are only 1 or 2 people there.

I hate those guys. I understand the need to kill a few things so they get credit, but do they really not surmise that I'm standing there tanking 6+ howling cultists at once because that's the way to do it?

Easiest one: Solo it and use AOE
