Disable XP Gain

Please consider adding the ability to suspend gaining XP from all sources, with the exception of crafting XP.

This could allow players to sit in level brackets for lower level skirmishes, for example. Or, the case for my request, on characters I am not playing I would like to Invoke but without gaining the XP from doing so. Additionally, I would like to participate in events without gaining XP for completing the quests. I would prefer to gain my XP when I am out questing, not when I am just trying to have fun with a global event.

Not everyone may like this idea, but they don't have to use it! ;) Seriously though, considering just how fast you level from 1 to 60 in this game I would love the opportunity to pause my XP gain from time-to-time so I can do other things without worrying about out-leveling the content I want to do! :)

This also allows permanent griefing in pvp for a given level bracket, yeah they can delete and relevel a toon to where they want but that is a pain and helps prevent some people from doing it. If they can avoid gaining any XP they will happily sit there forever in transcendents and r12s.

    No thank you

Make it so if you've suspended your XP gains you're not allowed to enter PvP queues?

I dislike missing content due to things like 2x XP events.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Yea, sadly my partner and I started during such an event... big mistake, we didn't realise just how fast you level in this game as compared to every other MMO we've played prior! :disappointed:

If I could go back I would totally have waited to start playing until that weekend was over! :(

And some people love them because they're in a hurry to get up to 70. Or they will jump into an event, like the Siege, where they will level fast.

That I can understand, but I am a new player and I want to enjoy my trip to 70. Right now as it is, I am leveling far faster than I can complete the content! Which makes this part of the game far too easy. :/

Also it would be nice to suspend XP gains on all my alts I am not currently playing, so they could invoke, craft and even run guild HE's without worrying about leveling too quickly.

During the Jubilee doing the skirmish on a low level character was ridiculous... one of my characters gained 8 levels in a single fight! :(

Yeah. I did that on my GWF. He got benched for a while after that.

    + to this.
That's not actually a bad idea :) Make it like you can choose to disable your xp progression whenever you want, enable it again like so...

I don't know about "disabling XP gain," but I would whole-heartedly support removing XP gain from ~everything~ except questing. Only crafting XP from crafting, no XP from events, no XP from Invoking. I would even go so far as to suggest XP from PVP be totally seperate, perhaps even a distinctly different form of XP, like the crafting XP, so you can level in PVP without levelling in PVE and vice versa.

You Devs have said you want more people to actually play the game, well, granting XP from every thing defeats that purpose. As the OP notes, everyone out-levels everything via the oodles of XP flooding in from ever direction. How does making a shirt (crafting) teach one about battling orcs? How does herding pigs help us fight a dragon? Invoking should grant us a nod from our Deity but improve our skills permanently.... I don't think so.

I know I am in a minority, I've said so many times. I would prefer to earn the XP via working through the storyline and adventure zones. It bugs me, same as the OP, to level out of adventure zones simply because I did a seasonal event or crafted.
