I think if they invested into the Foundry, there'd be far less cries for new content. (Yeah, yeah, broken record.) I know there were earlier calls for more campaigns, but we're teetering on overload here with a campaign for campaigns. It sounds like too much time spent at the "brainstorming session."

EE revamp into a campaign is a year late, where is the Temple of Elemental Evil epic level dungeon crawl?
In the World of Greyhawk MMO...
As I understand it, each world in D&D is a different license. THIS game is Neverwinter, which is in the Forgotten Realms setting.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Campaigns are 'allright but they shoudnt replace content, if you cant do both new dungeons/raids and campaigns, then just stop it with campaigns for a bit please.
Welp I made my own thread the other day on hitting the same wall so I'll just restate--
I have also run POM/THRONE/DN/DEMO/EMO hundreds of times. I play 4.5 characters actively and I have *two* +5 rings, only one of which is useable (the other is the once/60 seconds invulnerability ring).
I've gotten to the point where I want to snap people's heads off when they get orange rings, and I don't like it. The RNG is out of control on those items. A guildy got 2 in 24 hours.. I haven't seen one in months.
That being said I'm really enjoying the Siege event, so well done there on distracting me from the tedium of 100s of runs to come with continued lack of +5 rings and Orcus set items. For now.
Silver is right though it's really painful at the moment to know that when the RNG might finally cough up one of those rings the odds are good it may be junk to add insult to injury. How about if we could use Ichor to trade out one ring for another? Even if it were a LOT of ichor? Something? HALP!

I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.
Again, when I told them about thier problem with edemo (even though, you know we are the ones actually playing) I pointed out that twisted ichor should be a currency to buy both +4 and +5 rings. This is a paywall, cryptic might even earn money off from the keys.
Again.. totally ignored and now.. welp.. whoops, edemo is useless.
They do not think dynamic enough!

Also see the tag below.. If we cant have temple of elemental evil.. then what was the point at all?
"Other products tied into the Elemental Evil storyline include the Temple of Elemental Evil Adventure System Board Game and pre-painted collectible miniatures, both from WizKids Games. WizKids has also partnered with Perfect World Entertainment to bundle in-game items for Neverwinter with the Temple of Elemental Evil Adventure System Board Game and miniatures boosters. Rounding out the tabletop RPG game products is Gale Force Nine’s new Dungeon Master’s screen featuring Elemental Evil art, as well as unpainted, resin miniatures that tie into the adventure, all slated to release beginning in March."
Like seriously is it a tie in and do they have or had access to do it or not? If so, then they really screwed up by not doing something truly fun and epic.

yeah I agree
things are getting boring
I've got 1 +5 ring in 6 months or whatever, that sucks but I could live with that if content was interesting and challenging
Remember when you had to coordinate in VT to disable the caskets? Now its just burn burn burn
Remember Lair of the Mad Dragon, when a tank had to not only tank the main boss, but had to worry about spawns of adds and protecting the squishies
etc. etc. etc.
Something other than just mind numbingly boring DPS/burning stuff
Cripes, bring back versions of the dungeons with ArP bug from Mod 6
dunno, something

This game is one of those you love to hate.. but when you stop playing you miss it like an ex girlfriend. It's a habit thing..
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!
I love campaigns, its all I do. No seriously, I dont run dungeons.
More campaigns for me! I absolutely hate running the time sap that are dungeons. The reward vs time ratio spent there isn't worth it. Usually the only thing I find in there is stress, and that's not something I'm looking for when I'm trying to unwind after work.
I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.
Temple of elemental evil is kind of planar nexus zone for multiple worlds connected. Krynn may have it too, but rarely discovered or vanish and return at specific times just like Micheal Moorcock's Tanelorn Tower.
i didnt vote for this topic, i have other different issues with this game.
it is that "RNG" equation that seem impossible and some are getting "burn-outs". edited: adding, to avoid burn-outs, i would not mind spending 1,200 seals for +5 rings of your choice, i have reach max seals amounts so many times, and forced to buy enchant shards, but getting to the point to where i dont need shards or weak consumables, getting +1 over and over get many people fed up with junk rewards. or better way to use seals to buy special upgrade tokens to make +3 to +4, and from +4 to +5 would help alot, and if you get +5 from reward and that is considered lucky freebie, then why we have profession crafters and they are not using?
I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.
I am going to suggest that currently most (if not all) of Cryptic's current resources are getting funnelled towards breaking into that rich untapped vein of new players, the word of consoles.
Most PC players have been drained of both money and incentive to play now, so rightly Cryptic has to branch out into new fields. If this proves financially successful, I would only then expect new meaningful content to be added.
I mostly do campaign AD weeklies, invocations and leadership. Celestial chest openings, sometimes VIP key drops something better than transmute or IWD profession workers, if lucky. Slow SH progression, VIP and guild keeps me yet.
I only dungeons because somehow i need to earn shards for SH chest. Sometimes i think i just focus on AD making and buy SH boxes from ZEN market, because all dungeons are awfully repetitive. I only do specific dungeons when it comes with paired SH mission. Btw most of people advertising in LFG have no # in their account names, LFG is dominated by old players.
So speaking of content
1. Portabello, edemo, tiamat - no much interest for me as long as it has no direct SH/AD co-mission. 2. New CN is terrible in look 3. Waiting for rest of dungeons return in epic form, when ?
With current stat progression the game needs new variants of dungeons with much higher prerequisites. IL system is not accurate to reasonably measure player strength (with all perks some players are effectively 9-12k IL). To fix huge gap between players, the game needs another reset, new stat system, just like it was in mod 6.
Bondings, mount insignia, SH boons, campaign boons - this stuff combined together creates more problems with existing content than lack of new content.

I'd be fine with just more challenging content. I don't necessarily need to be rewarded with more overpowered gear. Titles, special cosmetics or BoP mounts for completing challenges would be cool.
But my guild has always enjoy challenging content, not to grind rewards, but for the satisfaction of beating it (legitimately, no cheese). There was a time when CN was really hard if you didn't cheese it. Fulminorax, Valindra, the level 70 versions of Grey Wolf and Cragmire, and then the Stronghold Dragons...these were all challenging when they first came out, and it was fun to throw ourselves at the challenge until we could beat it. Then we'd figure out strategies we could use to repeat it, then start bring more members through the content...long after we needed any gear, but just for the fun of it.
That's why I suggested some sort of harder raid content in my last post. I think that's a big piece of what's missing in Neverwinter. There's a need for content that groups or guilds have to coordinate for, challenge and fail, and actual progress through. There has to be a happy medium between the ol' days of 6 hour raid nights and the current meta of 20 minute "It's a Small Dungeon After All" singsong Disneyland dungeons.
I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.

NO! You don't need new content, you need to fix the HAMSTER you already have before adding anything new.
This really doesn't help at all. It's been repeated many many times that they can't divert resources to bug fixes because a lot of the people working on new content just aren't capable of that work because it's not their job.

This was done with no old sets. It was done before elol nerfs, though this morning, without any sets, I was in a group that did it again. (3/5 of these people in the video are now taking long breaks from the game, and may never return) Ive seen over 20 on my friends list leave since November. Vets are just plain tired and bored of this HAMSTER they shovel as content. Thats the truth of it. Who really cares about balance.. JUST making the same HAMSTER we have harder, but already we have done 1000 times, who cares. We need new stuff, balanced around what we have been given. They are not given enough actual new content ..
11/18/14 Tiamat 11/14/15 edemo 3/15/16 CN
This is our "end game" NO MATTER what arguments you bring up to me, this is the truth We are JUST not getting enough interesting ACTUAL content to run. WE have enough campaigns, if they want to give us a new adventure zone, to progress thorugh and say, GIVE a bag for doing it.. that would be much more appreciated then another set of boons.
To answer your question @ironzerg79 , of course Ive run these things hundreds if not thousands of times.. LOOK at those dates, can you really justify or defend a company for this sheer lack of new dungeons and raids?
Ive done many runs with and without sets.. you are talking a matter of seconds between the two.
ironzerg79Member, Neverwinter Moderator, NW M9 PlaytestPosts: 4,942Arc User
@silverkelt where am I defending them over the lack of content updates? I know, I know...it's easy for you to look at the "community moderator" tag next time my name, then just assume I'm shilling for Cryptic.
Go back. Read what I wrote.
This game DOES need more content, and I welcome HARDER content. And I think they should focus on smaller bits more frequently, as opposed to dropping larger (and inevitably more buggy) less frequently.
Those are the three points I've made in this thread. Nothing more.
Bugs are not the only thing wrong with this game. I'm sure there could be separate groups working on different branches of problems, such as: -Class Balancing -Tooltip Tweaking -Overflow experience system -PVP queue balacing -Unfair/Tedious Systems such as: Refinement System Loot System [Includes things like: Edemo, lockboxes, dungeon loot crates, invocation packs]
Those I just some things I think they should devote all their time to right now, instead of adding new content that makes these problems grow even more.
Of course, bugs are one of the biggest so they'd obviously take a lot of time to fix them all, but devoting resources to an already faulty system is a waste of time. Letting problems linger usually ends up being worse in the long run.
They can work on class balance for the next seven years and no one will be satisified with it. They've already stated that they're doing reworks on multiple classes too.
Overflow experience is getting a rework to some degree in that power points are being added to a Sharandar campaign task and power points were really the only problem with it.
Tooltip tweaking happens practically every patch anyways.
Progression related systems like refinement and loot always take ages for any game developer to address because of the consequences of HAMSTER up. I wouldn't even put these on the same list as the rest of what you put forward given how delicately they have to be handled.
And really none of this would be sped up by not working on new content. That's just not how game development works.
And even if they could your suggestions would cause them to lose more players because the number one reason a F2P game loses players is when it doesn't release new content.

Balance should really only involve shortening the power curve.. just removing all top end toys people grind out, isnt the best way. Yes there should be some class reviews, every mmo has those and they should pick a couple out a time and adjust and just keep doing it, just like every other mmo does it, you cant stop.. it never really is done.
But by shortening the the curve, they can design content for more players.
My proposed linear enchants, would literally make up to as much as 70% difference in power curves.
I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.
Bring back the Combat League. That was the last time I spent any time in PvP. . . after fixing the queue of course
What, so that BiS premades can farm mounts? No one wants to play PvP because it's a broken mess with a high barrier to entry. Giving people modest rewards for participating in a game mode that they do not want to play won't make PvP any less dead.
I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.
re: progression systems for refinement, it is a pain & it is expensive. It also is 100% filler - you don't need everything at Mythic, R12, and Legendary to adequately handle any and all content. All it does is further overgear content that is easily overgeared. The power creep and a max IL that is 100% not required to breeze through current content in game is a (IMO) major part of the problem.
My CW is sitting at right around 3.1K, my DC right around 2.8 - so I'm not sitting at some gaudy 4K+ IL (like many are) - and nothing is remotely challenging in group content.
I have a 2.5 GWF - the only thing I have not run on him is CN (because frankly, what's the point, I play my CW/DC more)
A 2.3 HR - relatively fresh 70, I haven't run much (I enjoy the CW/DC more)
A Paladin that is now a mule (he was around 2.3 and boring as hell)
A TR I haven't touched since EE dropped,
A 2nd CW that is around 66 that I play when I'm sick of the others because I wanted to see what MoF was all about,
A GF I've leveled to 68 on and off when I get sick of the repetitiveness of grinding the same stuff over and over again,
And a SW that I never touch... then there's the empty character slot waiting for a new class.
Point being, you get to a point where increasing an enchant, artifact, or another piece of gear simply doesn't really matter - it just makes current content that much easier.
I just want dungeons, raids, epic content, you have failed miserable yere.. if you want to do whatever else, great, but here you are failing the players.
Eventually, yeah, based off of current fight mechanics that exist in game.
Issue is (again, IMO) - that has happened basically as soon as content has been released.
From an XBox perspective...
Game was released w/ mod 4 content and the mod 5 rule set.
Grinding up to 60 and playing the content available - Cloak Tower, Cragmire, Graywolf, Idris, Mad Dragon, Spellplague, PK, Dread Vault, Caverns, ToS, Frozen Heart, and CN was new, and a challenge initially. That challenge eventually diminished as you figured out the mechanics, geared yourself, and progressed.
Turen/LoL/Tiamat - same deal
EE comes along, removed a very large chunk of what was available, added VT/Malabog and revamped eCC/eGWD/eToS. We never got to experience VT/Malabog as "new 60 content", instead we got the T1 experience, new content that was easier than rehashed content. eCC/eGWD/eToS each initially proved challenging, but again, figure out the mechanics, gear yourself, progress.
eDemo/CN - there has been no challenge, there has been no figure out the mechanics, there has been no gear yourself. eDemo/CN have been being treated as speed runs since they were implemented/introduced.
Character progression has lapped game content - that is 100% on the people who produce this game.
If they are going to allow character progression get to a point that involves serious time and effort (and in some cases pay walls based on RnG - coal ward drop % from invoking as an example) to get to a certain point. Game developers should have content to match character progression - simple fact is, they don't.
The rate at which a character can progress does not line up with the limited content said character has to play.
Each mod that is released further promotes the power creep and further neglects content to match said power creep - that is a serious problem.
