Mod 9 Damage Bug:

I am not sure of the entire scope of this bug and how much it is effecting, or if it is a bug at all, but it appears that abilities are dealing less damage, at least in CN, then they are supposed to. Examples:

Elven Ferocity (supposed to have a base damage of 20k):


Shadowtouched (each proc is supposed to hit for a base damage of 5k):


Burning Guidance (each hit is supposed to have a base damage of 2k):


Notice the base damage in ALL cases is 25% less, that means you are in effect dealing 25% less damage across the board, at least in CN. This does not show up in effectiveness, it is the base damage of the ability that is being reduced. Furthermore, in addition to this, there are weird effects causing your abilities to spike in effectiveness, causing you damage to drop dramatically in some circumstances. It is not due to bonding stones, we tested without those with just our base arp which doesn't change, there is something weird going on here.

    the boons dont say you deal 20k damage they say you deal up to 20k damage over few seconds. and is the same and for heal boons you get until 20k not guarantee 20k . Maybe before was bugged and didnt matched the tooltip and dealt always 20k damage you never know.

    It's not just Castle Never, I'm also seeing the 25% reduction in damage on Burning Guidance and Elven Ferocity in Greed of the Dragonflight and Demonic Heroic Encounters (but no reduction in damage against the bonus heroic encounter boss). Damage in other dungeons and skirmishes seems normal (2k and 20k).

    EDIT:

    A little testing suggests it's probably the damage reduction of level 73 mobs. Level 73 mobs take 25% less damage from all attacks.

    You'd expect that shouldn't alter the base damage. Effectiveness perhaps and actual damage output for sure, but not the base damage. That said, I have logs from pre-mod9 that show the same base damage on Shadowtouch at least. And Elven wasn't working as expected in the past either. See below:




    Unfortunately I have no logs from BG as there was no-one with it present during the runs I've saved. This was back in November, so whatever this is, it's not new. Also, this was not in CN obviously. But something has changed between then and now, obviously. I"ll log my next CN run and DF run as well and see what we can come up with.
    Try running these logs on weak mobs instead of high-power demons and dragons. You'll note the empowerer used the expected 20k base damage. It looks like a game mechanic: everything of sufficiently high level/power gets a base-line 25% reduction on base damage.

    i will make the question always based on tooltip why you expect the base damage of those boons to be the same all the time ? maybe they ninja fixed it to be random. AS i said it says: up to 20k damage and not 20k damage.

    "Up to" is because they scale to level, as it possible to have these boons and not be level 70.

    just for info, as reported in another thread, blacksmith capped dmg (new since maze engine patch) of 2500 is also doing -25% on 73lvl.
    Please fix Zhentarim Warlock companion's skill "Arcane Warping" to the originally intended "Arcane Boost"

    Pure -> Transcendent Plague Fire weapon enchantment giving 80damge/20 seconds for 500k+ AD is a joke.

    This would explain some things. I did notice some anomalies while doing CN and I thought it was something to do with my rotation. But it's obviously this.
