Companion Stones?

I have a question I Hope someone can answer.
In anticipation of the 2x refinement weekend tomorrow.
I have 1 of each class and they all have at least 10 or so companions. Each either has a Rank 7, 8, or 9 companion stone in active or not.
I was wondering if there are and advantages or disadvantages to having ALL my companions sitting around with rank 7, 8, or 9 stones, whether they are active or inactive.
Should I just rank up my active companion’s stones?
What are the best one's to upgrade, and why? That’s the bigger question.
What are the advantages to ranking up a companion stone to say 10,11 or even 12?

    it is only worth having runestones (and gear) on the companion that you have summoned, ther other 4 companions will only give you the Companion Active Bonus that they have.

    As to the best runestones to upgrade, that is going to depend on the pet you are using and the class that you are using. If you are using an augment companion and need more crit then perhaps profane runestones would be better. if you want more recovery then arcane runestones are good. If you want more power or defense then Bonding runestones are the best to upgrade.
    If you are using an actual pet as your summoned companion and you want to gain more from the pet then using bonding runestones is a must. Once you have 3 greater bonding runestones you will get more stats from an active pet vs a augment pet.

    Ranking up runestones to 10/11/12 just gives you better stats, same as with normal enchants that you use on your character

    So the other companion I have active that are fully loaded with stone and rear, are really doing no good? Would you suggest that I just level up a few of each and use them as I need them?
