hey is there any way we can get the popup that tells us what we recieved for competeing a task on the gateway to be moved to the side so it doesnt cover up what we are trying to click on to reset professions? that thing is annoying as hell
not by ourselves and it's probably not going to happen on the dev side either. As it is in-game, you'll have to confirm your rewards before getting them. Moving them will do no good to anyone. You'll still have to confirm before you can do anything else. That's the system. Removing them would be kinda nice, but I'd rather they keep it and fix the issue with characters that have a name longer than 1 word. I like to see that the rewards are being handed out properly. Easier to detect bugs if you can see what's going on.
um what? I have no idea what you are talking about and i dont think we are talking about the same thing
I meant the ticker that comes down when you complete tasks and start new ones telling you what you are doing it covers your profession slots I would like tha moved to the side so you can still see it but its not in your way

You could close the popup... How does it matter? And @magenubbie, what's the issue with names you are talking about? I have several toons with 2 and even 3 words, no issues.
/sarcasm voice "oh why didnt I think of that?" how does it matter? because I do professions on 15 toons and the less clicky work the better some people have more than that and its annoying.

Firefox makes you click a Gateway pop-up repeatedly to close it, but only on characters whose names contains a space. Chrome doesn't do this.
The top-bar pop-up Theo is talking about is pretty invasive. Notifications that 9 tasks have completed pretty much fills the screen, and it lingers long enough to be in the way while you're claiming rewards. Also, error messages don't clear until you close it manually, and the aforementioned Firefox issue can generate a lot of errors (because double-clicking the pop-up tends to make Gateway think you're collecting a task that no longer exists to collect).
Fewer actions to accomplish a task is better. This is why Gateway is overall a better interface than the game for professions, because you can eliminate clicking by using "back" to repeat tasks, and the interface for assigning assets does not require endless scrolling. But there is still room to improve it.
Personally I don't mind having to close those top-side pop-ups while doing professions.
There are 2 things that sort of irk me on gateway: - having to click multiple times to close one message (mentioned above) - false dice rolls... I roll, see the result, click the dice and notice how nothing happens and the dice shifts to a different position.
At first I thought this was a lag issue, but then it so happened that an entire round of dice clicking didn't matter at all. I had finished an encounter and, after it closed, noticed how the encounter was still very much up. I've no idea what kind of error could've caused that.
(went off topic with that, sorry... opening a new thread just for that feels wrong to me)

I have many toon to do profession through gateway and they all have 9 slot opened too. No, I don't have the "whole screen is covered up" problem and I use chrome. The yellow messages disappearing on their own fast enough for me. It does not reach the first row of the slots for me (after I collected all 9 slots and activated all 9 slots using back page). The only thing I hate is the red message not disappearing on its own. If you have "the whole screen is covered up" problem, may be changing the font size of that screen can help.

^agreed... I do it on my mobile and don't find it being an issue... I wouldn't bother with gateway if the PC's around.

I use gateway to do profession and AH even when I am playing the game.

^ That's a weird thing to do since you can't have your eyes seeing 2 places at the same time nor can you control both effectively. And you could have a lot of scrolling etc...

Professions done or need to check rare tasks but you were in the middle of something instanced you don't want to reset? Tab out to Gateway.
^ That's a weird thing to do since you can't have your eyes seeing 2 places at the same time nor can you control both effectively. And you could have a lot of scrolling etc...
Reasons:
1. If I am playing character A and character B needs to reset profession, I don't need to logoff character A. 2. Even if I am playing character A, I can park him somewhere such as camp fire and use gateway to set up profession for character A because using gateway is a lot faster than using the game interface. Same for AH. Gateway AH sorting is a lot better than in game AH. 3. Using back page button of the web browser (a mouse button) allows me to reset all 9 slots (if they are the same task) in less than 15 seconds. I can even do that closing my eyes. That is: set up the first task. Put the mouse pointer to the 'Start task' button. Click it. Don't move the mouse. Use the mouse back page button. Click it. Use the mouse back page button, click it, ......The next 8 tasks can be started by 16 mouse only actions without moving the mouse to aim somewhere. You cannot do that as fast in game.

I didn't think about multiple characters... And the back button wouldn't work on mobile so I never tried. About the AH, while its good for single items, buying stacks is better in game...

The only advantages I've found from managing professions in game are thus:
1. If I want to set a profession task multiple times on the same character, my position in the task list, which all appear in 1 single scrolling vertical window, is remembered - making accomplishing this simpler. 2. I get the bonus XP from XP buff items, like the inscribed garments. 3. I can collect items from the mail. 4. I can identify items in my inventory. 5. I can sell items on the AH.
The real advantages of sticking to the Gateway are that there's no need to install a client, and there's a much shorter delay between switching characters.

No, buying stack is a lot better in gateway (using PC browser) if you know how to sort. Sort in price and then sort in quantity. In game, the calculation was not exactly correct because it rounds up badly. In game, the sort actually does not work.
For me, mobile gateway is pretty bad.

You can sell item on the AH through gateway too.

1. Immensely faster with browser back button. 5. You can sell via Gateway. It even respects VIP not paying a posting fee.

Whether the game or Gateway is better for buying cheap stacks actually depends on how many lots of the item are for sale. Gateway will only show you the 400 cheapest by buyout, which means it will show single items and small stacks instead of stacks of 99 of very common items. The game's AH interface will show the 400 cheapest lots by unit price, so sometimes it is much better.

I am not sure about this because I always see 99. I believe in game AH is also restricted by 400. That has been a major complain by Xbox users and they have no access to gateway. I assume PC game version is the same.

If I search for "rank 5" on gateway right now, it will not show me a stack larger than 5. That is because so many people are selling single enchants. If you search for "rank 4", it will show the 99 stacks because there are not so many single enchants posted as to push those results off the display.
Both results are limited to 400 auctions, but the two interfaces prioritize differently. Like I already said, Gateway shows cheapest by lot price, game by unit price.

I usually do "runestone, rank 5" and "enchantment, rank 5" in gateway. Gateway can sort the way I like while I cannot understand how the game AH sorting works or even works at all.
