Tell that to the HRs and TRs who are arguably better at control than CWs. If all we had was (non damage) control, there would be no reason to have one in the group.
...because any PvE content in this game is so easy that there's no such thing as "requires acute and potent controls to help survive."
So don't be blamin' TRs or HRs. It wasn't us who drove the CW players to giving up controls and just going for DPS.
Ask for a better/smarter mob aggro system, faster mob response, lower in damage but more frequent attacks, and much more frequent CC/special attacks from mobs without the stupid 'red zone' telegraph.
I'm not blaming anyone. I don't care who the best controller is.

I agree with that.
The problem is it was the TR's and HR's that complained that the CW is a controller and not a dps and hense caused the ninja nerf of the CW.
It is just fair that controller classes control and dps classes dps( and not control)
There are more than BIS players in this game RIP Real Tiamat, RIP Real Demogorgon RIP real Temple of the spider. Why remove non bis content to give to bis players ???? FORCING the majority of your player base to play 4 mod old dungeons and trial will have a bad result on player base Changes are getting so bad i would rather prefer no new changes (RIP ICE FISHING in winter fest)

Not that it really means anything any more, but if we're sticking to 4E terminology, AOE damage was a key component of "Controllers". Hence the large assortment of AOE spells in the CW's repertoire.
AOE DPS = Control in 4E.
But none of that really matters anyway, since Neverwinter used 4E as "inspiration" but is most definitely NOT following those rules, or even 5E's rules, etc...it's a video game with it's own self-contained set of rules.
Arguing about what a class SHOULD or SHOULDN'T be based on irrelevant terminology is...well...irrelevant.
For all intents and purposes, Neverwinter has three roles: Tank, Healer, Damage. CW's fall into the Damage category.
There is no "Support" roll. There is no "Control" roll.

I tend to slightly disagree with you. CW can do a ton of damage, but they can also control the battlefield quite nicely (except for bossfights) I ran an eLOL the other day and had a 3.7IL CW out DPS a same GWF by double the amount. This CW was pure destruction....but a real glass cannon.
I am a CW 3.3k. I do allright damage, but I have chosen to concentrate on the control of battlefield and give my teammates the opportunity to kill everything with some buffing of my own. I have chosen to go full oppressor for that reason. They can control quite nicely with the right powers and the right mix of feats. This is how I have always portrayed the CW.
I have realized in this game that there will never be a balancing of the classes. You have you tanks, damagers, buffers, controllers and healers....or classes with a variety of all of these. I find CW to be extremely versatile compared to some of the classes out there. A little taste for everyone.
Strongholds has brought about a good change....cooperation. Play your role and ye shall be rewarded. Each one of our characters have a role to play in the group, and it is up to the players to play to their role. Low damage should never be the reason for 'class balancing'. I almost run exclusively with my guildies or friends I have made throughout the years and none of them judge me because I am a mid DPS CW. We all play to our strengths.
You will always have your powergamers who are looking for IL 4+, 3+ or whatever. Don't cater to those groups anymore. Play the character you want to play. I am usually not the highest damage dealer, neither the highest healer. I often get the most kills however and it puts a big ol'smile on my face.
Without debuffers, controllers or other non high DPS classes, the 'Big Guns' would not do nearly as well. My GWF had his best run a couple of weeks back because we had a cleric and GF in the party. Sure I killed them in DPS, but the run would not have gone as smoothly without them.(probably would have had to drop the dungeon).
Everyone has a role to play. Enjoy your character. If you don't like how it plays, then choose a character that does high DPS and stick with it.
I love the CW class just as it is.

@ironzerg79 I agree that this is the state that the game is currently in, but I do feel that it is sad that it is this way and I would like to see the game returned to the point where control means something. In mod 0 for example, people used arcane singularity+shield pop or repel in dungeons, there were actually control wizards whose primary focus was not to absolutely obliterate everything, their goal was to keep the big bad monsters from obliterating your team. I would really like to see content in this game that accommodates for a controller and also requires a controller, I feel it makes for a richer game and a better experience over all.

Class balance is always a relevant topic, but let's not turn to the spectres of long dead threads to discuss. Necromancy never leads to good outcomes. Now back to the grave with you!

Mass death equals mass control.
