Main hand Artifacts Lost To Guild Coffer

@strumslinger

@zebular

I don't know if this should be a bug report or a rant.

Two members of my guild earned main hand artifact weapons on the way to level 70.

Both players have Paladins.

Both players deposited their artifact weapons into their banks because the weapons cannot be picked up until the character reaches 70.

Both players subsequently accidentally fed their weapons to the coffer while dumping in green items picked up - this occurred prior to either reaching 70 and was not discovered until they each reached 70.

Both players were told the equivalent of "tough luck" by technical support because these were donated to guild coffers.

This clearly was not intentional on their part, as they would both prefer to keep the artifact weapon rather than increasing their guild marks by 1 point and increasing the surplus equipment count by 5 points.

What player would expect an item deposited in the bank to be fed to the coffer?

The coffer interface for surplus equipment is pretty annoying and I can easily see any player getting in a hurry and missing that the artifact that they just did 500,000 vigilance quests for is on its way down the toilet. Any player.

Neither of the players are stupid or young or foolish. One player is a disabled American veteran. The other player is an orthopedic surgeon. They're both adults with experience playing games and MMO games in particular.

As a software engineer, I can't imagine this being part of any intelligent design on the behalf of the developers, either.

I am utterly amazed at the indifference that they each were shown by technical support. Is there a minimum Zen purchase that they need to make in order to get assistance? If not, is the answer just "tough luck" to anybody who thinks they're helping out their guild?

    I did something similar so I get what an awful feeling it is when you realize it has happened; its a ton of time and work flushed.

    I'm sure this issue ranks near the top of the ticket type Cryptic gets. I would assume most are legit but they may have limited resources to 'undo' what has been done, hence the 'sorry bro' answer they, and I, initially received. Also, any willingness to help could be exploited by less the scrupulous individuals; something I am sure they are mindful of.

    That said, I did get my stuff back thanks to a very helpful tech after I asked to have the issue escalated. I have posted this before and seems appropriate here

    First tech was nice but 'sorry bro, cant help', was the recycled answer. Asked it to be escalated and he did me a solid. Don't be a tool, explain your case with dates \ times, reasons and apologize like its your job.

    Hope it works out for them.

    Is it really a big deal? I know it's annoying, but I though you can get these green main weapon artifacts quite cheaply through the ToD campaign crafting... I even got mine early as soon as Elemental Evil shipped and then got a second one from Lord Protector.

    Yeah, the ToD option is great. What about the offhand?

    That's MMOs for you. Sometimes you just mess up and make a mistake, time to get grinding to get some new ones from the campaign, if everyone who made a mistake had support correct it for them imagine the demands that would be put on the support team.
    If it's a bug, then that's another matter but in this case it just sounds like carelessness.

    The ToD option is 14 days out for one player, 15 for the other, so it is only an extra two weeks, but it is two weeks due to poor design.

    For off-hand you need 15 Linu's. And there aren't that many ways to get them - you either do the Tiamat Fights, or buy them through the donation quest. For donation quest you can purchase coin purses, or trade in genie's gifts, or craft treasure chests trough the campaign window. It's going to take quite some time and money to get these. I'm working on Linu's myself for ToD boons, and, man, 30 + 50 Linu's is a lot.

    A guildy donated a rank 10 azure by accident because of the same issue where it places your best items on top even when in your bank. Not paying attention fully and trying to deposit gems, a gut wrenching mistake was made. Support simply says pay attention better next time. So go slow when depositing adventures.

    That's the key: go slow when depositing; in fact, always go slow. People tend to get overconfident with time, it's normal... So we have to constantly remind ourselves to go slow.

    A few days ago I was gonna refine one of my artifacts, barely skipped "refine" and hit "discard"... Luckily, the A button didn't trigger twice with one push as it usually does; otherwise, I would have lost it. Then I kept saying to myself, "next time go slower... SLOWER!"

    I recently joined a guild, and whenever I deposit something I ALWAYS read the description of the item I'm giving away... I don't trust the picture anymore.

    Poor design......hell no, love having access to my bank when depositing, more convenient, just pay attention to what you are depositing in the same way as you do when discarding or deleting mail.

    I am neither here nor there, for I am NevrCene

    People love glitching bosses, too. Doesn't make it good design.

    Place it in your shared bank account..won't burn...

    You can't put a main hand or off hand in shared bank slots, bound to character.

    I do appreciate it. Both of my guys are still hurting over it. They're still a week and a half away (or more) for ToD

    Yeah, it sucks... I was donating random to the coffer myself just before double AD hit. I had stashed a bunch of epic gear in my bank to salvage during the event. When I noticed the gear ready to be donated, I made sure I had put it in my bank. When I saw that I did, I decided it wasn't worth the risk of losing the AD.

    I've just told my guild members to avoid donating to the coffer and to let me handle the equipment requirements.
