Tell me about your doohickeys!

Have you turned one in yet? what did you get for it? I dont' just want to hear your success stories. I also want to hear the horror. the mundane.. the happy the sad...

and the great of course, too..

    Only made and turned in one and got the mount. Was surprised, expect Pres wards. Really want the forgehammer, so might sell or trade it. Waiting to refine the rest, so we'll see what is till to come.

    I turned in 3. 1st was Alchamy prof box, pres wards, gizmo. 2nd GM pot, pres wards, gizmo. 3rd Black ICE prof box, pres wards, gizmo. I am done with this game. I was grinding and had all 7 of my characters to do the special task in professions just to get garbage. I'm done. Should have spent time in the T2s for seals. "High chance" my ***

    I lied. I wasnt done. Bought some blueprints used the gizmos to make 1 last attempt. So on the 4rth........ are you ready............ black ice prof pack. 0 n 4. Plunders of Dong event. I feel sick to my stomach like I just had a prostate exam.

    Interesting, nothing mentioned GMOPs or Black Ice Shaping pack in the event pack description. For all we know there might have been no Forgehammer of Gond in that pack, since none are seen in the AH.
    Personally, I've got lucky and sold my Doohickey for 410K AD.

    I was thinking the same thing about the forgehammer. You would think there would have been at least one. I also did not see any purple blacksmith companions.

    After the first Gond event on PC, there was a sale on profession packs, a while after, that included a chance to get one. We may see a similar sale in a few months. Uncommon versions of it were a rare reward from parcels (prizes from parcels included a chance to get event rewards/similar rewards from the previous year) in the second Winter Festival, so I don't know if we will see that this year.

    As for the other comment, the pack gives refinement items (GMOP would be included) , a gizmo and one other item and Profession special packs was one. Maybe he was just saying the types of items in it or I suppose they may have used the type specific versions by mistake(or design).

    I was wondering that too but then I thought I'd wait til tomorrow and see what turns up in the ah. the double refinement starts at 10 am tomorrow. I still am on the fence about sell or open. gonna see what tomorrow brings before deciding. if it looks like forgehammer is that rare or not included as it's supposed to be and the companion isn't dropping and the mount seems pretty rare still.. it might not be worth the gamble at all. it's kind of crappy to put garbage in a prize that is this expensive. It needs to be like 10 profession packs no alchemy or black ice packs. I'm also wondering what's going to happen to the price tomorrow in the ah. Probably a lot of people waiting to craft but also a large influx of ad to the economy. (dungeon armor is account bound most of hte time not character bound so you can give your dung armor to alts to break down) It will be interesting to see what happens. One of the things I love most about this game is the micro economy. I bought 12 blueprints not knowing how long they'd stay in the store.. but looking at the math I'm thinking i'd be better off just crafting thingambobs to sell or just buying the clothes and reselling them. unless there is a drastic price raise on dohickeys.

    Reselling Blacksmith cloths piece-by-piece is a totally valid money making idea, imho. I wouldn't wait to sell the Doohickey though as the Gizmo it drops would be less useful once the event ends and no Blueprint are available.

    Actually, 1 little disagreement. The Black Ice packs can be valuable. Those gauntlets still sell for over 100K AD for green and 200K for blue. I wouldn't complain. An alchemy or leadership pack would still be better than those Pres Wards, but not by much.

    I have 2 thingamabobs, 3 Gizmos, over 200 sprockets, 80 cogs and over 1000 Grommets. I crafted a lot. No, ancient curio this time. Still deciding, craft, sell or save for next time?

    Blueprints and all events items, usually stay in the store until the vendor is removed a week after the event ends. But, they have messed this up. Medals of heroism were in for over a month and one event they removed the vendor early.

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding what the blackice pack is here, but if it's the same one you can get in the ah.. they sell for about 2k and I've not yet gotten a gauntlet out of one. I"m sure you can make money off them at that price in the AH but it's not a win for the amount of money a single doohickey costs to produce.

    It is my misunderstanding, since I hadn't actually seen which pack comes from the event. I was thinking of the pack in the Zen store called the black ice shaping booster pack. 1500 Zen. My bad. I bought a three of these with 15% off coupons and you get at least green gauntlets plus 2 other shaping assets and a resource.

    I forgot about the black ice shaping special pack that was in lockboxes. Yeah, that version is not so good and the price is even lower than you said. The description on the creation of wonder bag does say professions "special" pack , so you are correct.

    Still, I'm going to turn in one more Doohickey, maybe two. Fully expecting pres wards, but what the heck. I'll post the result for a laugh.

    in all reality I think it's still probably a better odds of something good than ten keys.

    I'm sitting on one set of fashion gear, two gadgets 339 grommets 30 sprockets and 34 cogs as well as 12 blueprints. I should be able to fashion a few things from it tomorrow. the problem I have with save for next time (and the key thing people talk about with prices of keys for vip and what not) is the question of just how long is my attention span for this kind of game, and how long is the attention span of everyone else for this kind of game (because this game is nothing without enough players to make it workable) will I be here in 6 months.. maybe.. but I'm not really anticipating it. LOL.

    After a few disappointments on previous quests like this I don't actually bother any more. My experiences were always similar to Zixxers.

    To my mind if you spend several days doing nothing but farming your butt off you should get the top prize - not a random chance at it.

    It's just not worth the input, I'm better off doing the usual stuff.

    ugh, I did one. I thought.. i've spent all this time farming and grinding I should at least gamble one. and I got.........preservation wards. gah! I got a purple stability stone too but still, wah! at least it wasn't an alchemy pack. LOL. I should have stuck with my plan of doing fashion only

    I really, really want to look at the game's RNG code. :smile: When the Gadget upgrade task (85% success) fails 3x times in a row with me doing just 7 upgrades in that refining session that's 2 percent chance of me being so unlucky. I'm not going to gamble after seeing that.

    That made me thinking that I should do some cheap RNG test with low-level refining items to see how close the success distribution to the officially declared for some items. Too bad we don't have an Xbox test servers to run RNG tests there to get the drop rates for all the content.

    Well, the next turn in was amazing. It was so much more than I could have hoped for. It was unreal.

    Who am I kidding? It was a jewelrycrafting pack and the junk. At least, it had a blue crucible in it. Shall I do another? Hmmm.

    Well, the next one was a professions special pack and the assorted junk. But, It was a really good one over all. It had Mithral Bezel pusher, Dragon egg, Master Leatherworker, Elemental Aggregate and a green jewelrycrafter. I have to rate that one as not equal, but a fair enough trade for a Doohickey. So, I am happy with 2 out of 3 turn-ins.

    farmed it last time only to get 2 lvl 5s and a lvl 4 with some refinement in it...
    so- I thought I had a good chance of making atleast one fully this time, and after throwing over 400K astral toward
    getting enough to make the doohickey- and I did!!!
    -and got a black ice shaping pack, another lvl5 gizmo, and a couple of pres wards... sadly
    -I have spoken to about 40 people that got it together- only 1 got the mount, and I believe he is the only one that did- because I found him on the mount and asked him" how many tries-"
    he said one...
    a few made more than one (expensive...) and got nothing (of real value) either...
    man I wanted that lobster- now I (and most others) are very disappointed- not a VERY high chance at all guys...

    He's not the only one. I got it first try too.

    There are several mounts (over 20 last I looked) up on the AH but I'm still not convinced there is an Epic Blacksmith or Forgehammer in the drop table for the pack.

    I also got the mount on my first Doohickey turn in. Multiple people in my guild have also got the mount.
