Slayer Overloads in companion equipment - is this intended?

So I noticed just now that it's possible to put your overload slayer enchantments (the ones intended for you) into your companion only equipment. It also seems to tick down indicating it's being used when the companion is summoned and in combat. Theoretically you could then stack 4 or 5 slayer enchantments for yourself? Is this intended?

Well you can put dragon enchants to that companion equipment but that doesnt give you anything and dragon ones dont work with augments from what I have seen.I already tested with blue and red dragon enchantments. Not sure about slayer ones

Hi Golkax, the ability to slot overload enchantments into your companion's equipment is definitely intended, if you speak to The Gemmonger in your stronghold you'll notice he has an entire set of wares focused on companions. Such as the "Companion's Mark of the Dragonslayer" these overload enchants will benefit your companion with such perks as 50% more damage against dragons, or all companion's heals grant yourself or party members 10% resistance against undead, to name a few.

If you ask The Gemmonger for more information when speaking to him you can ask him for details about companions and overload enchantments, but the long and short of it is this: overload enchantments designed for players will not benefit companions, as indicated on their tooltips, and vica versa. Additionally, slotting an overload enchantment into a companion does not pass that benefit on to you, the player. (Though some, such as marks of ward can benefit you directly via companion's heals.) This feature does not benefit augment companions who do not engage in combat.

Thank you for the clarification here. I think I get it, so although I might have slotted a companion overload into companion equipment and although it seems to tick down the timer during battle when the companion is summoned the overload benefit is not transferred to the player. So slotting a player overload into companion equipment is pretty much useless and visa versa.

The thing that seems to me counter-intuitive though was that I was able to slot player overloads into companion equipment, and the timer for the overload ticks down anyways when that companion is summoned. Although it might be being used there is no effect, so it's only a fancy way of depleting the timers on your overloads.

Maybe a nice addition down the road would be not letting you do such silly things. IE: Companion overloads only go in companion equipment and player overloads only go in player equipment? Just a thought, I know there are WAY more pressing issues. :)
