Race around the Stronghold

I guess I misread it. Got zero points. Thought you're supposed to touch as many
of the areas (like 'Fae Canopy') as you could in 4 minutes.

What is the required course for this task?

Haven't picked it up, but does it mark your map with checkpoints? The game supports this. I've seen it used in Foundry a couple of ways. You pass through the marked bubble and your objective updates.

Yes, it's just a checkpoint sequence. I got the top reward using my epic mount. Much easier for me than the "slay 30 enemies before time runs out" quest.

Thank you. I will look at the map more closely next time.
    (Its a tad cluttered.)

Yeah, I didn't get what I was supposed to do the first time. Talk to the guy out near the caravan that takes you outworld, then ride from blue circle to blue circle on your map.

Is there a glowing trail for this? (I had made a personal waypoint
before I got to the race, which would likely override the games.)

The Z Trail can get ya in the area of the circles but terrain can cut it off. Look at the Mini-Map for the Blue Circles. The Daily quests for the Stables is also a Race on different maps. So master it now. ;)

There is a glowing trail, as well as a blue circle on the map - so you definitely need to clear personal waypoints.

Just if you dont have turned your questpath off and thought it will be something like flags on the way that you can sea. Or the circles on the big map, i just had them on minimap if i came closer.

Would probably be more fair if you have a mix of players running it together
(new and experienced) that you could actually see flags within the game.

Not going to happen, of course. :)

This would have been the issue - your waypoint would override the glowing trail.

With an epic mount it should take you under 2 minutes. My best time so far is 1:38, which included getting briefly off course and a bit of lag.

Tried this with my guildies last night and we came to a conclusion that the glowing path was bugged if we did this quest in a party.

The path works fine if you solo the time trial.

If what we encountered is not an isolated case, I strongly advise those attempting this to do it solo before partying up.

I heard that Tier 3 (best) rewards can be obtained even if you don't have an epic mount.

    Good luck!

Running these races in a party can bug the race. While testing on Preview....The Blacklake Race, my silly party mate had no idea where he was going and triggered a future checkpoint. When I reach'd that checkpoint, it wouldn't register. :s

Solo all races and ya shouldn't have an issue. :)

Is it even possible to complete without an epic mount? Has anyone tried?

If you have a tiered reward quest and want to try for a better reward, just J/drop the quest pick up and try it again.

Did it with 3 characters, no issues with epic mount. Piece of cake compared to horse races in Skellige xD.

Did it last night on a blue level mount and had about 1:30 left when I finished. I cut a couple of corners here and there. I assume that a green level mount would just make it. Not sure about a white level.

Even the slow 50% mounts can easily make this race with a minute to spare high-fiving all the peasants cheering you on along the race. :p

I have not tried but with a blue mount (e.g. the free water horse), I believe you can based on how much time left when I finished it.

Green (besides a few special one) and white have the same speed.

The course is 'sort of' follow the sparkly line with at least a 110% mount. I did and got Tier 2 rewards.

I managed to get the 3rd tier reward using only a blue mount with about 15s to spare so I'm pretty sure a green/white mount could do it. I think it's set up so that using a higher quality mount isn't required, it only increases your margin of error.

Cool that's the way it should be.
