Mining black ice for the first time.

Created a new char some weeks ago and now i went to IWD.
I had to mine a black ice deposit for the first time for 3 pieces of black ice.
So i did but it stayed at 0/3. I did another deposit but still it stayed at 0/3.
Then i thought to myself i delete the quest to activate it again but now i can't find the quest anymore to activate it in Caer Konig?

Did i shoot myself in the foot here?

    Omg...i know what i did wrong.
    The quest giver was in Ice Wind pass and not in Caer Konig.
    Also the deposit i supposed to mine is in front of him. I walked straight by it few days back and did something else.
    You can't mine a different one untill you mine this one,that's why it stayed 0/3.

    I feel so stupid...

    It's actually possible for someone else to mine your quest node, so that it's not available until it respawns.

    Also, if you do this quest in a party, the BI splits between party members and you again have to wait for that particular node to respawn to get enough.

    Hmm! I thought only the person who gets the quest can mine that particular node. I saw people digging there but I did not see any BI.

    BI on the ground from someone else mining? You never see that. But unless it was patched, that node can be mined by anybody, so they'd be the one picking up the BI from it. I've had it ninjaed on me, which is when I discovered that mining any old BI node would not do.

    Mining a BI node while in group with a partner, you each pick up your own drops, but you get half theirs and they get half yours. It's really only relevant to know when dealing with a quest tracker.

    I mean I do not see the big chunk of BI node on the ground waiting to be mined. i.e. I saw people digging on an empty ground in that particular spot.

    Ah, ok. They likely did patch it to prevent ninjaing then.
