Hello everyone,
I primarily PVP and will give some thoughts on the subject and maybe help out some of my fellow CW's.

I will start with spells. These are the spells I beleive are best for pvp. I will list more than can be slotted because I beleive in options and people have different play styles.

At-wills:
Magic Missles
Ray of Frost
Storm Pillar

Encounters:
Chill Strike
Entagling Force
Repel
Shield
Ray of Enfeeblement
Ice Rays

Dailies:
Ice Knife
Opressive Force
Maelstrom of Chaos

Class Feature:
Chilling Presence
Eye of the Storm
Storm Spell

Spellstorm Renegade build: These are the must have feats IMO to get to Chaos Magic in the Renegade tree. The rest of the points are preference. I did not include them in the build. This is pretty basic and as much as I want to give out on build info at this time. http://nwcalc.com/index.html#/x/cw?b=1oa5:k6rwk5:8dep:2et,13n0i83:100000:100000:1z05u1&h=0&p=ssm

Gear: Lots of ways you can go with gear. I run all Profound or Grim except for Artifact Weapon and Belt.

You need to get your Armor Penetration up to atleast 24% before you worry about anything else. I prefer more than 24% but I find that as a good goal to hit as a minimum.
I try to stay at over 40% crit without any modifiers or my buffs from class features or build.
Next is recovery or power. Some people like to stack recovery to atleast 30% recharge speed at a minimum and some don't value it that much and go straight to power. This is preference IMO.

If you run shield in your mastery spot don't get the 4 piece set bonus. Go 2/4 2/4

You never want to use Maelstrom in PVP, it's far too easy to dodge and has an insane cast time. Not worth it in PVE either really. I find the same thing is true for storm pillar, although I've seen a few people manage to use it effectively at the beginning of combat or to hold a node.

I definitely recommend putting shield on tab, that'll make a huge difference when a stealthed TR tries to use Lashing Blade on you. It's also very important to build HP for any class in PVP - HP cannot be migitated, unlike defense, deflect, and everything else. For now, it's also important to build some regen, although that will certainly change when the Module 6 balance changes arrive.

Great basis for new CW's. I'm still seeing CW's use COI and even icy terrain in pvp smh.

    ThiS will def help.

ummm COI is really good ****** lol it procs spellstorm...most of my damage is when i COI and just ray of frost and see 7k spellstorm every second. icy terrain is also good for AOE defending a point. YOU have to remember 6 stacks of chill freezes the target...doubling your damage with cold spells. how i do 50+k ice knife ....say goodbye to cleric..

    I personally don't like COI.

Icy Terrain is good with keeping permastealth TRs off a node, just hope you have lots of HPs and defense for when they daily out. ;)

Hehe, a bit, although I'm mainly a PC player, hence me putting tab. I meant spell mastery, but the rest of the message is relevant to both PC and XB1 in the mod 4 and 5 state.

I was going to ask some Qs about cw pvp builds in the pvp section but happened to stumble upon this, perfect lol. I am a thaum spec, headhunter and 2/5th to bloodthirsty, I do pretty well for myself. I've read around the forums that if your not renegade your doing it wrong lol. So what makes renegade the best for pvp? I'm guessing it is chaos magic, how often does that proc?
The first tier paragon feats make sense, but the third tier is all about combat advantage, call me a **** but how useful is that in pvp? I noticed assailing force is half as effect for pvp so it probably isn't helping me a lot. Creeping frost does help a bit, but maybe not enough to justify staying thaum.

I'll be respecing regardless, getting a bit bored and want to try a new part of my class out, just wanted some experienced opinions.

Oh and maybe some gear tips, I have full grim thaum and loved it, except that my recovery is god awful. I'm grinding out my second piece of profound thaum, for the 900ish recovery 2 for 2 bonuses. My stats in full grim are around 2500 power/crit/arp 1k recovery 1.4k defense and rather low deflect.

Edit: wow, I see the light. Chaos magic is HAMSTER.. Had one negative game(against rekt lmao) in over 10 matches.. I'm sold.

How is Oppressor tree in pvp. I would think the +75percent cc , and quick move after teleports would be baller in pvp?

Simple answer here. "Maelstrom does not crit"

yea. Sad day seeing that right after 3pts went to it. Singularity is pretty nice though
