Character won't stay in Stronghold map!

I've noticed that my first character (tiefling TR) that ever step foot into my stronghold, won't stay in the stronghold map after logging out! It appears to be only this toon and I ensure I log out of that toon while in my stronghold. When I log back in, I am back at the Protector's Enclave.

If no one is in the Stronghold map, it closes. So unless a guildie stays in the map while you are logged out, you will log in the last non-Stronghold location you were at.

Just wanted to add that I am seeing this happening on my other toons in another guild, same account.

Though that makes sense. However it doesn't happen to all my toons and almost seem random at times.

I just logged on to a toon that is in a more active guild, I was sent back to PE, yet I check the guild roster and there are people shown at the stronghold.

Have to say this is slightly annoying.

The instance has to remain empty long enough for it to close. If people are crossing paths a lot, it will persist. If it closes, all character who had been left parked there will be returned to their point of entry. It's not a bug, just part of the instanced play.

Sounds like something I'll have to deal with then, and is the mechanic of the game. The SH was the perfect place to park alts since invoking, banking and mail are right together. Only thing missing is a vendor.. anyways, thanks for the clarification.

Just to add to this, when I was doing professions this morning, characters I had left in the Stronghold and fully expected to be booted back to the Protector's Garden did load into the Stronghold, because there was someone on the map already, meaning a Stronghold instance already existed for them to zone into.

So yes, it feels a bit strange but the only way to always put us into our Stronghold would be to keep an instance for every guild open all the time, since they're all going to be in different stages of development.

Yeah, this isn't a bug. As mentioned, if the instance is garbage collected because it was idle long enough with no one there, when you log back in, technically, it's not the same instance, so you're bumped back to the last place you were before you entered the now-invalid instance.

And it IS a bug after all. Or, to be more precise, the explanations in this thread can not explain that even thought there WERE guild members on the SH map, I was transferred to my last location (just as alkemist80 reported some posts before). It does not only happen after re-login, but also after pvp, a dungeon run or a skirmish.

My guess is that when the instance id is not the same anymore, you are transferred back to where you were before. You start on SH map with the id "1" (as an example). From there you log out, go to a dungeon, skirmish or pvp. While you are away, the instance with id "1" is destroyed, because noone is there anymore. Before you log on again/return from pvp, dungeon or skirmish, other guildmates enter the SH map, which is then created - however with a different id, let's say "2". When you come back, there is a SH map there, but with the wrong id. Bam! Back to Dread Ring (or whereever you have been before).

That would explain my experiences with the SH map completly and I would consider that a big fat bug.
