can the purifying fire feat for paladin crit? if it does then that seems like good dps.
I tried CW, GWF and SW, liked CW but it's too squishy.
might want to try a HR
I can play most classes, tank or dps, not support though. Currently thinking paladin, TR or HR; or carry on with GWF/CW

GWF is not squishy, and do both AoE and single target DPS.
My opinions are my own. I do not work for PWE or Cryptic. - Forum Rules - Protector's Enclave Discord - I play on Xbox Any of my comments not posted in orange are based on my own personal opinion and not official. Mobs will keel over at the site of you (mainly from laughing). Guilds will queue for your services (as a drinks waiter).
As for the pvp listing - you will be at the TOP! (you just need to turn your monitor upside down before you check).
That is all.
...............vote for your favourite expansion.......... "Mod 6. Oh my f****** god. It gutted the game pure and simple. And what wasn't gutted was messed up by the poorly thought out new level cap and equip. The game never recovered from that atrocity". ..............not this one then.............
On a serious note, my suggestion is to pick a couple, and play them up through level 60 while getting leadership and slots unlocked. Then, if you don't like them, buy two more character slots (don't make another account - it's definitely worth buying the slots instead) and create some other different characters and try those out until you find one you really enjoy. When you try the right class, you'll know you found the one you want to stick with. Trying to pick it based on min/max stats won't help you. If you enjoy the mechanics of a given class, you'll do well with it no matter what. You'll also find you're willing to stick around playing it even when it gets broken, like SW has. The same was true for DC for a long time, and GF -- they'll sort it out eventually. If you enjoy the mechanics of a given class, you'll have WAY more fun in the game.
The fact is, every class, once you're in the higher-end category for gear, is pretty damn effective. If the player likes their class and is therefore good at playing it, they'll be even MORE effective. If you don't really like the class but are playing it because someone said it does tons of DPS... you won't ever really excel and you'll find you don't really enjoy the game very much.
IMHO basically all classes but SW can do what you ask re. squishiness, provided you know when to dodge. And re. Damage: GWF and CW are the automatic first places on the Paingiver chart (mostly). An offensively skilled DC can do decent damage but more single target, a Paladin can do decent AoE and tank but single target is rather meh IMHXp. TR has a slightly weak spot in AoE, and gets squishy when out of stealth AND stamina. HR can do great single target damage in a party and solid AoE but is somewhat squishy. GF is crunchy but can't dodge, and damage... ...well, yeah.
Safest bet is GWF (SM Destroyer), CW is next though very on the squishy side near control resistant opponents, e.g. Giants, but else you can choose build-wise between a wee more squishy or a wee less DPS.
The "Try and buy"-recommendation really makes sense, IMHO.
This is the one constant of Cryptic's design path: Whatever you pick, it will be dramatically unbalanced in a mod or two. If you are unlucky (see Temptation Warlock) it will become completely unplayable. More likely, it will just become so much less fun to play that you will need a new main or a new game. What you really want to do is maintain something of a stable of characters and switch as the nerf/OP pendulum swings. The ability to do that relatively painlessly used to be one of Neverwinter's saving graces.

Overall both the cw and gwf have been playable since mod 2 at a fairly high level, you might have to switch paths (and they totally screwed regular gwf mechanics for a entire mod.. but we did have intimidation to cover that mod) Cws have been valid for entire game basically, they have totally reworked how you played them from time to time though.
GFs, TRS, HRs, SWS and DCs have all had up and down moments.

I'm in total agreement - only class never to be nerfed into oblivion is CW.
I play a CW, TR. GWF, DC, and Pally. I started the CW and GWF in Mod 3 and the TR and DC in mod 4. I love to play them all, DEPENDING on: If I am solo, TR,CW, and GWF are alot of fun, DC and Pally not so much. In a group they are all fun. I built the DC and Pally to be only support for Epic Dungeon Runs with my Guild, I do very little to no damage BUT, without me my Guild has a much much harder time, so in there, I feel my reward. As stated, it all depends on what YOU find to be fun. Make a few Characters... try different races, (Human is a pretty good choice for most classes) but, try a few, see if you like it.

Seriously... most people pick a main that they like to play. How do you like to play? Ranged, Melee, Caster...

What you need to do is roll a Temptation Warlock.
