EXP is broken

Current EXP gain from 66-70 is either broken or Cryptic doesn't know what they are talking about.

The current patch supposedly made exp gain MORE rewarding when doing content at your level.

Well, I just did spinward rise starting at level 66 and completed all 3 vigilance quests, got my mainhand and was only slightly into level 68 when I was done.

Mind you this is with 2x EXP and I was using 5 Azure rank 9s.

Having done this before, WITHOUT 2x EXP on 5 other characters, I always ended up at level 70 just before finishing. That is without 2x EXP and with 5 azure enchants.

SO, either EXP is broken or Cryptic doesn't know what they are talking about because doing appropriate level content is NOT more rewarding and that is with 2x exp. So what the hell is going on? Don't say this is a ZEN push because exp boosters will not help and are in fact even more useless than before......

    It IS more rewarding!

For them... since you can buy an XP booster that will give you 2x XP from lvl 4 all the way to 70.

They do realise, that this change will drive more players away... right?

I just had almost exactly the same experience as the OP, so I took a look in detail. To go from L69 to L70 now requires 720k xp. Even with Double XP running and 21% xp boost from enchants the highest XP quest in SpinRise is around 26k. And you can do it once per hour. Even if you run all three lairs every hour when available your total XP gain will be around 75k xp during Double XP events which would be close to 10 hours for one level. Now imagine doing this with normal xp gain - 20 hours of mindless grinding to go from 69 to 70?

Game is broken. Please fix ASAP.

I don't really understand it. Why would an existing player bother to create an Alt at this point? I didn't even want to do the paladin because of all the artifact gear and equipment refining needed. Now XP grind on top of that? Are you kidding me? Whenever they release a new class my first thought is not how great its going to be but 'ugh'. Yep 'ugh', and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that.

Well, at least with an Oathbound Paladin you can have more fun at a lower itemlevel, then with any other class in the same or even much better gear...

I've spent the entire double XP weekend levelling ONE toon through SpinRise. I have done nothing else other than professions on my other toons. I started at just over L67 and am now just over L69. For a WHOLE WEEKEND of play.

How is this 'more rewarding' exactly?

It is funny how they concentrate on finding ways of making things worse/or less fun. I guess the old crew before the reorganization had a direction that was diametrically opposed to the new crew.

Haha. Well it would be sarcastic if it was not true. I did the math and it would take doing every in-game quest every day to get one chance at a power point in about a month.

it would make sense if they guaranteed power points every overflow level.... but that is NOT the case

I think "more rewarding" is the most troll-like statement I have read in Neverwinter patch notes to date. Appalling.

When they said "more rewarding" they meant not just the XP adjustment, but also the +50% hp on all the mobs :hushed:

I don't think they understand what the word "more" means.

That is not much at all. I was getting over 14K with azures and inscribed garments during 2x and it was still PAINFULY slow.

It is "more" rewarding because you need to play "more" so that you have "more" fun. For the same level, you have more "experience", more "training", more "practice", more "time", more "loots" (since you need to play "more").

You used to have N hours entertainment for one level. Now, you have N*M hours entertainment for the same level. Yes, it is "more". Play one level and get M times experience free.

A guildmember asked me if his character was "broken".. same situation as the OP. He doesn't want to go through Spinward again, and he's way to squishy to go into the level 70 areas.

Well, all the Devs did change, you need more XP to level up and to fill your overflow now.
No changes in any rewards at all.
It's still the same boring way up, but they had to stretch that grind even more.

And now they put much better equipment and even XP rewards behind/inside Stronghold walls?
The Stronghold module must be really ... , considering how hard they work on forcing players into it.

Since the exp change (I was one bubble from bonus level) I have since leveled ONCE!!!!! I am 3 bubbles currently from getting my First full overflow level since the patch. This sucks so bad....
I don't do daily's to get exp and the dungeon/skirmishes I run everyday are a drop in the bucket(feels more like a bottomless sea).

...at least on par with the bag binding "...so that they're protected against pesky thieves and goblins".

Oh wow, I missed that binding quote. That's just... wow... I can't think of any time a game company has so flat out insulted its players' as boldly as that. Don't get me wrong, "more rewarding" is a spit in the eye, while the 50% HP increase being hocked as addressing difficulty concerns was a punch in the gut, but that binding quote is just salt in the drop tables.
