Two Questions about Companions

I've never paid much heed to companions, but now that I'm min/maxing a few characters, I had some questions about them.
1. Do companions utilize set bonuses from armor sets? Hrimnir's Ring, Belt, and Amulet for example
2. Do companion Active Bonus stats follow you into PVP? If a companion gives you +1% AP gain, does that apply in PVP despite not having a companion summoned?
