1,785,000 xp needed at lvl 70 now for overflow reward! double XP instead of double RP?

omg...

I thought 700,000 was a high amount of xp needed for overflow.
Now we need 1,785,000 xp for overflow reward!

Also double XP is on instead of double RP

I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!

    Double RP does not matter if the rest of the game is unplayable.

    Is this a ninja action meant to mess with the players that are still engaging in the game?

    With all respect, how does increasing the amount of overflow XP (which, if you read the patch notes, XP given was ALSO adjusted) make the game unplayable?

    Adding quote from the patch notes for emphasis:
    • XP given, current XP and overflow XP has been adjusted at levels 61+ so that it is more rewarding to do at level content.

    It was also stated in those same patch notes that invocation boosts would set your bonus XP at a given level, rather than continuing to add to your bonus XP, which would explain the perceived loss of boosted XP.
    o All XP Boosts given by Invocation now SET the bonus to the amount instead of adding it.
    o All existing XP boosts that did give 25% bonus now gives 100% bonus XP

    Given that I have received a total of 0 power points from multiple overflows across actively played level 70 alts since mod6, this is still a slap on the cheek.

    Judging by the increase in needed XP for overflow... that means the XP for everything has increased by 250%? I am just asking because if you increase one... you would have to increase the other to remain consistent... unless they are looking to alienate the player base.

    I don't understand a lot of the logic in this game...

    With Mod 6, monsters started hitting for much, MUCH more damage. "Because of the power creep", I heard repeatedly. But hey, here's armor that will stack another 15k HP on you.

    What?

    So the monsters got made completely overpowered, but here's armor that counters that. Monsters got damage resistance, but this armor will also give you massive amounts of armor penetration.

    What?

    In what world does this make sense? What is the obsession with just adding zeros to numbers in this game?

    Yet the tradition proudly marches on. Now we have to get approximately the same amount of XP to fake level as it took to get us from level 1 to level 60. But you get more XP per invoke!

    What?

    Why bother? Why not leave well enough alone? Why not fix all the real issues that are, and have been, plaguing this game?

    Ugh. This is so frustrating.

    D&D was never about massive numbers. It was about exploration, adventuring (not just being a mercenary for Sgt. Knox and a number of random other NPCs) and collaboration of parties. But now we have "dog eat dog" PuGs and PvP. With a 1d8 two-handed sword, a crit of 30 or 40 was a HUGE deal,k but here I am, critting for 150k or 200k. Impressive? Yup. Needed or necessary? Absolutely not.

    I am not the only person who would really like to see this game stop its slow decline to be like "all the other MMOs" and actually live up to the Dungeons & Dragons logo plastered all over it.

    True, but MMOs have always been about making numbers go up. Calvin and Hobbes basically summed it up years before MMOs were even a thing: http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1995/04/27

    For better or worse, Neverwinter really is more of an MMO with a DnD skin than a DnD game that happens to be an MMO. I would consider D&D Online an example of the latter, but they both have their merits. I'm not defending anything, just giving you an alternative perspective.

    Thats why Im scared of all incoming rp x 2, or exp x 2 bonuses - they are always used to cover some nerfs that affect whole playerbase. ToD exp nerf - whole week exp x 2 as compensation. They finally confirmed Dragon Hoard nerf - rp x 2. Now overflow rewards requirement have been increased by 250% (and that DOES hurt new players that dont have any rank 4 powers yet) - exp x 2/ rp x 2 so forums dont explode from rage. Its quite effective, since indeed not many people pay attention while trying to level they gear as much as they can, but still - whenever any rp x 2 is announced - expect some major unpleasent changes its meant to cover

    Frankly , I find what they did to be highly deceitful.. extremely so.

    I have zero trust at the moment for this team.

    I blame management. The tell-tale sign is the fact that when you open one of those new refinement pouches from invoking, you get a Zen Market discount certificate. Trust me, that is purely a middle or upper management decision.

    Some possibilities are:

    - Middle management trying to impress upper management with their "independent" decisions/ideas
    - Upper management getting too involved in day-to-day operations - leave that to middle management
    - Middle or upper management arrogance

    What needs to happen is OPEN DIALOGUE between management and players BEFORE implementing "improvements." While some improvements are actually hitting the mark, others are coming from way out of left field and don't make any sense - these "wacky" changes only serve to drive players away from the game. This is not a good thing for PW or Cryptic, especially since Neverwinter appears to be their most popular game, if you gauge forum activity.

    Better wake up, people, before this game is absolutely destroyed.

    Although this game is DND, it stole the concept from Dragon Ball. On the other hand, at least, the toughness is increased by N times instead of in exponential rate like in Dragon Ball.

    The obvious disconnect is in the definition of "more rewarding". Requiring 250% more exp for something that was already BORING does not translate into "more rewarding". Am I missing something or does more rewarding now mean boring and painful?

    Absolutely. The more painful the task, the more rewarding is the outcome.

    But, at some point, the most rewarding move may be going thru the pain of releasing yourself from this game.

    Both your quotes and those of the devs about the XP adjustments are laughable.

    Let's see: it takes almost three times the amount of XP at 70 to 'level' up now. If they had tweaked the amount of 700k to less and left the XP gained as was things would have been fine. BUT they in affect nerfed our XP gain by taking away stored up XP, increased the amount of XP needed to lvl up exorbitantly while only slightly increasing XP from questing. Please tell us, how does this feel more rewarding exactly?

    Honestly, the writing was on the wall for this change as soon as 20% XP boost garments hit the Zen market.

    It seems that Cryptic Management's reaction to dropping player numbers is to milk the remaining players for more cash rather than try and get lost players back. Incredibly short-sighted and will only lead to one inevitable outcome.

    Cheer up! That's only like 12,000 DR quests... so, at 4/day, that is only like 10 years to fake level, if you aren't invoking.

    It stinks. Slot some azures. I like Fiery Pit because you can keep getting 4 Vigilance Quests in the Mushroom Gardens, then Crystal Fields - you can knock them all out at the same time, and make sure to get the quest for killing enemies in both areas as well. When it comes time to do Spinward, do the minimum you need to get your artifact main-hand, then return to Fiery Pit to finish things off, (once you're over level 68, it'll level you back down, so the quests will be that much faster, plus you'll then get drops matching your level).

    I started back up with this game a few weeks ago, and I enjoyed the game up until level 60... Now I want to grind my head into a stone block to ease the boredom. I can't even do skirmishes because I'm only level 63, and to do the damn missions required to unlock the skirmishes, you gotta be level 70. It's just.. Holy HAMSTER. This is beyond boring.

    I spent more money on it when I was leveling, because I was having fun. I wanted more companions, I wanted more bag space! Now, I just feel like I've wasted all that money because I've hit a solid XP cliff face and my will to play the game has all but evaporated. I wish I never spent a red cent on this game now.

    The xp needed to rank at 70 is nothing compared to what it takes to lvl from 60-70 now, not even in the same ballpark.

    From 64-65 = 5,700,000
    That is 570 quests at 10k each for 1 lvl and most quests are 5k.

    Looks like im done lvling any alts, the grind to far to brutal now.

    omg are you kidding me???

    i was coming here to say this is insane what they did.. even doing all daily quests that does not even fill up ONE bubble of xp at 70... (and that is sitting on a 450k bonus from inovking)

    is it really 5 mil to gain ONE LEVEL?? this is ridiculous..

    are you sure you don't NEED 5.7mil TOTAL + how much did you START the level with (from previous levels.. it all builds up)

    Ok i think I may have misunderstood, current xp 2.6mil - 3m to lvl so 400k least I hope thats what it means because it still feels VERY VERY slow.

    i logged into my level 66 to check.. as far as i know they did increase the needed amount "some' from 61-70 but not sure how much (if any.. people just SAID they did..) but they did for sure go about 2.2X or so the previous overlevel cost at 70.. it really is 1.7mil insanely enough and daily(s) from the campaigns give about 2k each.. and there are hmm about 18 of em..?? which with the bonuses i had (totaled about 50% or so with gear+invoke) i could spend about 3-4 days grinding and get it.. (or 1 week just doing daily(s) alone with NOTHING else) but now.. *rofl* if i get one in 3 weeks of grinding (once my invoke bonus i had built up is gone..) it will be a miracle..
