Better question here would be: When will you learn to play and get the proper defense stats and gear for your character?
Bonus question: Do you know there's a dodge button on most classes?

I for one MIGHT try to learn when Cryptic learns to make something worth learning. On the bonus round, when they fix things so you actually see the graphic BEFORE the spell effect hits then a dodge will have success.

You know, the more I see responses like this I wonder if maybe it's devs posting using fake names. First rule of thumb with the community here seems to be to blame the playerbase for the problems in game, not the people who make the game.

It all goes back to the number one objective of a MMO, it is to be entertaining. I am not entertained by dying in 3 or 4 hits to minion mobs in Neverwinter. Period, end of sentence, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. When I cannot solo Jawbone with Burning gear, rank 9s and legendary artifacts/artifact equiptment, just because I went with a less then optimal build.....(Temptation instead of fury or using the damnation bug) And then people tell me that maybe I should just quit the game. There is a problem.

The sole question here is for the devs. Is this how you want your game to be? Cause if so then let us know so I can GTFO.

    Thank you.

I can at least agree with you about the polar bears. Man those things are lethal!

I run a 1.8k SW through content and while I'm able to solo IWD and WoD after the latest patch, the combination of duration and difficulty just makes it not worthwhile. The time is better invested into something else at this point.

I know we are used to complete all the campaigns/content simultaneously, but that might no longer be possible for new chars/accounts. I had no problems getting through Spinward Rise for my Artifact Gear and will now move on to Sharandar / Mod1. Whenever that's complete, I'll hopefully be able to comfortably do Dread Ring / M2 etc.

I can also only encourage everyone to queue for PVP at all times while doing dailies and get those NCL currency. 100 tokens is not that much and probably a major upgrade at ilvl137 for most. Plus you might even win a match here and there and complete dailies.

I have done it on a SW, so I am well aware... ;)

Like I said, it's not easy, but doable, particularly if you adapt and try different skills/powers. Are some classes better at it? Sure! However it is workable, just have to put the time/effort into learning, that's all!
Oh it's possible - although I haven't had the heart to try it on my SW yet. Enjoyable is a different matter. And if a game isn't enjoyable then what's the point?

Mod 6 is basically be tanky or be dead. That would be fine if limited to group content only, but when a pack of 4 redcaps are a life-threatening proposition for someone soloing dailies in Sharandar then something is very wrong.

Redcap? wait till you meet with quicklings.

One thing is being down in 1-3 shots by a critter (or spendin "half an hour" to kill one), another thing is calling BRUTE ELITE class mob, which polar bear is (unless its a dire polar bear which is brute solo class mob) a trash mob. Thats just ridiculous. By just looking at its health bar should give a hint its not wise to irritate it when unprepared (being it a lack of character power/equip, playing skill or a fellow player/s).

After a couple months break, I came back to this game.
I play solo and only PvE. I am not a great player, but I've been playing my one and only toon, a CW, since august 2013. I know it inside out. And, yes, I dodge a lot.
I had quite some fun going back up to lvl 70 in my old High Vizir's suit, with my 30k HP. I died, and I had to use lots of potions and a fair number resurection scrolls, but I thought it was normal since I was obviously underequiped.
When I got to lvl 70, I decided to upgrade to some good gear. Yes, this meant spending money. I don't have enough free time to play 24/7. I got to 3.2k gear, which I expected would be ok.
And then I came back in game, ready to reap what I thought would be the satisfaction of being well equipped.
    Oh my...

First, the cloud giants did give me a hard time beating them. Not as bad as Before, as I could beat them without dying, but the screen was often red and I drank lots of potions. OK, I felt it was because they hit hard and were not affected by control spells, which is a problem for a control wizard.
But then I went to Icewind Dale and tried that quest at the tavern, against a mead crazed rampage of barbarians. I could solo it before. Right now, it's just a slaugther for me ! These guys are hitting insanely hard and have insane HP so, obviously, I cannot kill them fast enough, and they end up piling on me. You cannot dodge indefinitely, and with a dozen barbarians and wolves on your back, you don't survive long.
OK, I thought it was because IWD is for PvPers, people who notouriously have insane gear and semi-pro experience.
So I went to Well of Dragons. Took a single quest, the one where you have to enter a dimensional portal. I used to solo it easily. Now ? Again, a salughter. For the same reasons : when mages have insane HP, you cannot kill them fast enough, and they keep on invoking devils, while the big devil chases you and forces you to dodge away. Nothing to do against sheer numbers like that, only delaying the unavoidable.

So, to sum it up : lairs as daily contents is now out of the question for me. Why on earth would I go back again playing this game ?

If that was all there was to this issue then the game would be playable but as it stood to complete anything has been given brick wall difficulty and is forced from being solo content to group with lots of revival. It needs to be changed so there is a happy in between difficulty rather than make everything nearly impossible to do without a group...

    So...

My input is that the latest change has made things worse.

The "monsters" now have more time to make their "heavy" strike.

I had no real problem with Beard in IWD before the patch... I do now enen though I now have An
    Orange:

    Sword
    Shield
    Belt
    artifacts X2

Which is 3 more than I had before

    A GS of about 2.7K

    Please consider fixing the fix

I agree on that sentiment. The fix is a mixed bag for sure. You are able to do more content on your own, but it still too time-consuming/difficult. On the other hand, the content that you already were able to solo now takes even longer.

dont forget, hostile human mobs have potions, and that is also another insults to players, a potion mean add 5-6 more hits to kill them if no interrupts available to prevent them.

I don't care what anybody says... sure their's dodge but it drains stamina so you're going to get hit at some point... and if your dodging your not hitting... Sure I use it strategically or as much as I can but twilightwatchmen is correct when 4 Redcaps present a life-threatning proposition in Sharandar there is something wrong.

Damage enemy do has been increased a lot... even at 2000 gearscore with rank 7 & 8 enchants as CW I can do 50% of the content without a team and that's using my shield. I know others with 2400 gearscore who still die at regular enough intervals doing campaign daily's not queued group content or dungeons. I think the KEY POINT the first person mentioned is something EVERYBODY else is not at all concerned with? Your HP at 70 are more than DOUBLE what they were at 60 if your in 115 (Rare) gear yet the KEY POINT is our best potions at 70 heal only 10000 HP and at 60 they healed 8500 so why don't we have potions that heal 17000 or 20000 especially since we have a 18s cooldown?

Say the enemy in MOD6 are doing INSANE damage compared to what they used to, and NO ONE can say they haven't seen a enemy get down to 25% HP to drink a potion and restore 60% of his HP? Also I don't think giving them yet another 50% HP and reducing their damage by 25% makes them easier. They live 1.5x longer during which time they can do just as much if not more damage depending how often they land critical hits--perhaps it reduces the ONE shot death but if your unlucky enough to go down to 30% HP in the first few hits a mob that lives 1.5x longer may give different options but it's still a uphill battle at alot of encounters.

Just a guess, but it even looks like the NPCs health potion is based on %, and not just a certain amount, like the potions we players are allowed to use.
Before the patch, i could see NPCs healing themself for 15-45k with a potion... now it's more like 30-60k.
It's either healing a % of the NPCs total HP, or they not just increased the NPCs HP, but also the NPCs health potions.

And as mentioned before, how are we supposed to "disrupt" the enemies, like the Lead Dev suggested in another thread... when some disrupt abilities are plain broken and/or not working?!
Shouldn't a Lead Dev be aware of such issues, and make fixing them a personal priority?

And why did not any "player friendly" NPC got the increase treatment with 50% more HP too? Take a look at Sharandar, daily or weekly quest "Arcane Reservoir", the guards, that might be a help for you, get just one-shoted as soon as they engage in combat...

Or shouldn't our companions also have some more HP?
White companions with at least HP compared to level 61 NPCs.
Blue companions with at least HP compared to level 65 NPCs.
Purple companions with at least HP compared to level 69 NPCs.
And orange companions with at least HP compared to level 71 NPCs.
It's great that companions now resurrect on their own after a while, but that doesn't help much, when they are also one-shoted every few moments in return.
I do believe in killing the messenger...
    Want to know why?
    Because it sends a message!

  • highlyunstablehighlyunstable Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 343 Arc User
It is a percentage, and depending on where you are in the game, you can see a heck of a defference. In eCC I was trying to take out a Huntmen, when he got to 25% health, he took a potion and the numbers over his head read, 124,000 and something.. and I thought... WTFrock, the can heal for OVER 100k now? This is WAY beyond what I would figure would be REASONABLE. Who was the GENIUS that thought this was a good idea??? Boggles the mind.

Totally bogus argument. My DR is 59.7% (no, that's not a typo -- it's just short of 60%). They cut through it like paper.

Defense is meaningless when the devs give critters the gods' own armorpen.
