    Remember that devs here are working on separate projects, and my not have communication with devs working on other projects. This means that various parts of the game will not necessarily 'make sense' when compared to other parts of the game. Nature of the beast with decentralized dev, and without coordination among teams.

    this game still sucks ,they ruin the game with there greed
    when you think you get new stuff ,its the same old sht recycle
    mod 7 will be the old dungeons recycle and more bugs and nerf
    it was tolerable till mod 5,and it could have been the best rpgmmo
    but greed kills

    To be clear, I never meant this to be a negative thread about how the game is now.

    I wanted to just begin with what I thought is the "Future of Neverwinter". I think it is changing and my original thread post states what I see, that's all.

    I believe Module 7 will be introducing the content from Wizards of the Coast and Drizzt finally shows up for us to help. It may be all recycled layouts, but the NPC interaction of the story line will be new.

    My opinion is ... New content for Forgotten Realm fans to explore and interact is the main focus of the future of Neverwinter. I'm sure we'll have new monsters and instances to explore, but I don't foresee anything as large as the Mulit-Zones and Mulit-Dungeons built around Valindra.

    I hope I'm wrong though ...

    I do agree this is the current state of the game. It's nice, though, knowing there's always a ominous threat over Neverwinter and jobs as heroes don't end in one last battle. The way the game will allow an ongoing battle to be fought forever is enough for me to keep coming back.

    but i miss my delicious lifesteal. My TR enjoyed using that as a potent functional "vamp template" knowing that a couple of encounter powers would bring my hit points back up. Gone is that fun...for now at least.

    Either - they get their <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> together, finish trolling away critical or non-fanboy users, and at least stop breaking thing after thing, and get some of the old content back up...

    Or - short.


    On a more honest meta layer:

    I suspect they either overextended themselves financially - which will probably lead to "Or" above, or they have overextended themselves workforce-wise on that super-secret project, which would be why they pull out everyone from this trainwreck the company seemingly has all but given up on for the time being, and have them work on that new, shiney thing.

    Another possible hypothesis is that the current course of NW events is an active effort to free up server capacity for super-sigrid's cost-neutral beta launch...

    Just speculating. But what we see here currently is either tragic or trolling...

    Casuals want landscape quests, groupers want dungeons and PVPers want functional PVP. This game doesn't seem to offer much of any of those at the moment. I honestly don't know what the future is for this game but I think it hangs in the balance. If I'm not part of it then I'll miss the combat - HR trapper was most fun thing I've done in a game.

    First, as a longtime player I appreciate your optimistic attitude.
    Your vision of the future and appreciation of Forgotten Realms lore are admirable...

    (Temple of Elemental Evil was Greyhawk universe, BTW, but let's not nit-pick.)

    But you can't start a thread called "future of NW" and be offended by critical future views.
    Healthy skepticism is rampant because the developers have repeatedly disappointed us.

    I am pragmatic about it. My future prediction:

    Developers will continue to focus on new and exciting WoTC content as OP said.
    This will shift the game to income dependence on new players... which they WILL get, but at the expense of longtime players.

    One year from now NW will still be here.

    But it will largely be populated by "short stay" players: those who play for a year, get frustrated once they see what we now know about the developers then move on to other games.

    It won't die. But it will thrive on turnover.

    That is the realistic future of NW.

    No one can start ANY thread without the critical views. :D

    I wasn't offended, but merely keeping responses on track. :cool:

    I think think game is hanging on by a shoe string, with it's American audience. I mean I have recently started pumping some zen into the game, but I can't help with looking at the way people are exploiting and using broke *** classes just to get things done.

    There has not been any indication of if there will be any fixes, they are already going to put the next "BROKE" *** class on PTR (The Druid) without fixing the first one they have put into game. I'm fine with the grind, just not the addition of adding broke and buggy things like they have.

    I have to say, while I love the game, when the next best thing comes along that can do better than what the 1 or 3 devs have been doing in this game, they will lose my business.

    As far as the future of the game, I actually see this game being in trouble if it does start to lose it's core "PAYING" audience.
    I may not be considered by most the BEST PVP Warlock on the server but, I am the most HATED amongst them.

    I really don't know how many developers are working on this game, do you? I'd definitely be interested in knowing.

    Maybe there is support from other developers at WoTC or Hasbro, for example? Maybe some freelancers that love the game too?

    I often wonder what is the order of logistics concerning what is produced here and what is decided by the supporting companies with their trademark on the game.

    Magenubbie, you made so many great points in relation to what the future holds. I do hope your post gets read much more than my OP because you said things I wanted to point out, but I'm not that good at it.

    Here's a few replies to some interesting points I found in your post. I wanted to say more ...

    This is the MAIN reason I support Neverwinter. The current NW story here was based on FR Novels and was epic to me because I lived my own adventure through the books.     While yes, I am a big fan of the Forgotten Realms campaign, most of the progressing modules they introduce has had a negative impact towards my attitude of the game's management. Granted players leave and new ones replace them, but eventually all good things must come to an end. MMOs die all the time. It's not a matter of (if), but (when) and (how). Until then, I will hang on as long as I can.
    Yup, its as if we bought what we thought was a home (with our attention, time and for many, money) but instead it was a hotel room, and mod 6 was checkout day.

    Just one last comment on this point of your awesome reply ...

    I don't think the future of this NW game will have End Game as I think in terms of other popular games. For one, they totally ruined any kind of end game we could of had in Mod6 because of that rise in difficulty level on already existing "end-game" activities. And secondly, there's going to be more effort spent in making the game a addendum to the module packs of the WoTC new content.

    By the way, you've got an awesome thread of what to do after 60. I enjoyed reading it.
