Tired of PUG parties kicking or quitting without even trying today. Got me thinking to how to improve things.
We all know Dual Spec would be awesome and I'd love to see it. I'd also like to advocate for the ability to change to a different toon and stay in the same party inside an instance.
I don't think much programming would be required to make this happen.
Some benefits:
Players can switch roles to balance a party as needed - i.e. swap to DC or GF if required, swap to a DPS role etc
Less incentive to kick or quit, let's talk in group and rebalance (lol ikr)
More content will get played than bugged, wasted time in etc
Some safety checks:
I would suggest that it only can happen at a campfire when whole group is out of combat.
Should be put to a vote as per kicking (to avoid DPS Qing as Heals or Tanks then swapping) - e.g BillyBob (CW) would like to swap to DC reason - We need heals people!
In PVP should only be allowed at spawn before the match begins. (I'm not completely against swapping within the match either, but again this could lead to other problems.)
You can't bring a character into content they are not eligible to do anyway.
Concerns:
I don't know how or when per toon loot is created within an instance, could this result in wrong drops per class? idk
Could it make some dungeon design too easy - Run 5 DCs here, 5CWs there, all out DPS here - idk
By being able to swap roles in place, you effectively allow for very fast travel amongst your toons - there could be exploits around this for sure - e.g. TR gets somewhere he shouldn't now it's an OP there (I think campfire restriction addresses this though tbh).
Good idea - it's been asked for in the past repeatedly. I would love to have a quick switch like another popular MMORPG has (not WoW) as it is very effective. Switch from range to melee, mob to boss, etc.
It's like the OP wants to be every superhero rolled into one: "Wait, let me switch into my flying fireproof guy for this bit", "Oh, water. Lemme switch to dolphin guy".
Nah, the OP wants to play not queue and requeue endlessly when my FL isn't on and active. the rest of your comment is agreeing with one of my own concerns.
I'd consider restricting changes based on how long you've been in a dungeon sure. Since you often join at boss 2 or 3, I can't see restricting changes to start of instance working in itself though.
Every boss could drop a change char token... BoA, transferred to whichever incarnation the player brings in after change. This way there are max. 2 changes per run.
It's a drawback of NWs (AD&D conform) rigid char system. But in at least one other game I play every char can learn every skill, store up to five presets (including gear), and switch between these at the drop of a hat.
I wouldn't mind some way to swap power loadouts - even if it has to be done at a campfire / altar. A second loadout would make it *so* much easier to swap from healing powers to DPS - which, as a DC, needs to be done pretty regularly. It'd be ideal in the Tiamat fight where the focus goes from buff / debuff (cleric phase) to straight DPS (heads). Most other classes could use it in a similar fashion - AoE / single target for CWs, Tank / DPS for GFs etc etc.
Also be handy for people bouncing between PvP and PvE.
Not the end of the world if we don't get them, but man, would it be nice for dungeons / HEs.
As for swapping characters in dungeons - no. Just no. Do the dungeon with what you have.
Asking people to read your posts and understand where you're coming from is not conducive to productive discourse. I am therefore closing this thread to prevent further attempts to explain your point, and squash your sassy retorts. See ToS rule 3.239-8475-39485725389476-3986087-12FU.

I'm not sure that's even possible tbh. But I'm surprised by the idiocy of players in this game continually, so maybe.

It absolutely isn't game breaking there...
