What do I need to have before I can run Epic Skirmishes and Dungeons as a Paladin?

I have been in 1 completed epic dungeon and 1 completed epic skirmish, those were only because I had fantastic teams that carried me.

I'm already assuming that the base gearscore required is not indicative of actual requirements because around 1600 is enough for me to be dead weight.

What and where do I get prepared to do epic stuff? So far it seems like I would need to complete epics to be able to be useful in them. I'm hoping that this hypothesis is incorrect. Thank you for any advice.

What kind of gear are you wearing?

Being a fresh 70, you should be wearing 70 blues or eternal armor set from ToD campaign store if you were able to grind out the dragon fangs. Blue ranked artifact MH/OH weapons and 4 (blue minimum) artifacts. R5 enchantments the base minimum, weapon and armor enhancement (if you have a chest slot). Hit points... IMO, you shouldn't have less than 60k to do T1 dungeon. The mobs can and will hit hard. You will learn fast to avoid big hits and red zones rather than trying to use the buggy sanctuary.

You can also check the auction house for purple accessories, such as rings and belts. You should of received a free epic neck from Lord Neverember if you aren't using an artifact cloak.

I would recommend doing runs with friends or if you are in a guild. It would be easier to do T1 dungeons, as random queue people in this game tend to be kick happy.

You need around 110k HP + some campaign boons and an AP DC, then you can do almost everything.

Get yourself the Eternal armor Chestpiece - and an Armor enchantment (best would be Negation, as high up as you can get it) for that socket. But don't bankrupt yourself there...

The chest is available for 20 kAD, some Dragon Sigils and Cult Secrets, and 15 Dragon Fangs at the Tyranny of Dragons Dwarf Vendor in Well of Dragons or Protectors Enclave. the point are those Dragon Fangs: To get these you must complete weeklies and Dailies in the Well of Dragons. These are not without some trouble...

...go to WoD, speak to Elminster, and he'll set you on track. You will have to complete all three quests from that first day's round, Cult Prison's boss is very hard but it's well doable with a party of three. I never made that with my Paladin solo so far. Then you have to collect coffers to hand in that weekly quest, and another day or two of dailies - presto 15 Fallen Dragon Fangs. Apart from the look that Chest Armour is OK, and currently the only one with an armor enchantment socket wide and far. The rest of the set is OK, too, but with random blues from the AH you can get the stats you want, and the same total stat buffs, for less.

Run 25-70 dungeons (ToS is fastest) to get blue gear. Level 69-70 full blue set should be easy to get and if you run it during DD you will also earn some AD from chest. Level 70 blue items can sell for as high as 10-20k, so its also nice AD income if you are lucky. I dont know if you can get rings there, but they are cheap.

If you are willing to spend some AD (or have the possibility to get these items by yourself) buy blue lvl 40s shirt/pants with slots - ~15k each.
You also need other belt - blue with slot (perhaps defensive, Im not sure if thats possible) is minimum. Best is greater plated band of const (or lol belt if you wanna go crit, since you already have necklace, but I dont think its the best tank choice). The cost/effectiveness best choice is either lathander belt (~3k-5k?) or normal belt of const, but dont refine them.

    Enchantments:
R5 - R7 Radiants (depends what you can afford) in defensive slots
R5 - R7 Dark/Silvery in offensive slots (armor pen gives you best survivability in dungeons, because of more temp hp from templars wrath. Recovery is good stat overall, you can cast defensive skills more often).

I guess you are aware how much help augment companion is, especially now with loyal items (just remember that +10% threat doesnt work on your toon, avenger items are best), so get one as soon as you can afford.

Then go and get practise in dungeons, knowledge about when you can take damage and when you have to avoid it, skill mechanics and when its best to use them, shift mechanic (read: OP shift mechanic is HAMSTER but you gonna need it and you gonna learn how to live with its issues), cooperation with your healer/controlers is worth more than further gear progression. Dont expect you will be able to facetank everything once your gear goes legendary/mythic, you will still get 1 shot if you stand in wrong place unprepared, better gear makes error margin wider, but blue toon with perfect protection will still lose just some temp hp, where unprepared mythic toon will get 1 shot.

P.S. In tomorrow patch there are new Shar sets coming, it may be worth to look at them. I also prefer soulforged than negation in PvE, even though it doesnt proc on deaths from binding oath/divine prot redirected damage.

I also want to emphasize this. There's a lot of skill involved in this game, so taking a few "practice" runs through the non-epic level 70 versions can be a very good thing.

    21 CON? i had 21 CON at lvl 1!! (20 starting +1 fire camp)

You should have between 27 and 30 if planning to tank.

Also, just buy lvl 70 blue gear from AH with HP and you good to go for tier 1. at least this as enuff for me.
