there is one solid base trapper only build -> all feet in trapper + LS from combat if needed.
Also focus in following order -> crit and crit severity (for pve), power, combat advantage (for pve mainly), LS, HP, deflect.
forget about recovery and regen. Enjoy.

Others are somewhat hybrid and require gear set up ( and AD to get it).

Pretty much ^^^PVE gear specifically in T1 you can mix raid and assault. T2 all the raid gear is burdened with recovery you will not use so go assault.

I very recently decided to go trapper, and so far I'm starting to get the hang of it. Its really enjoyable but I'm wondering if there's still something I'm doing wrong because I've been unable to win in PVP. I do significant damage until they hit me, and my character is still very squishy so I die pretty fast. I was wondering what I needed to change about my character, if anything. I'm prepared to make a complete overhaul, including gear, stats, respec-ing feats and powers, the whole nine yards. I'd really appreciate if someone could give me some detailed advice.

Do you have Negation? It seems to be the deciding factor these days.

No actually, I was never able to get my hands on one yet. They're very hard to make I hear and I havent the slightest clue how to get one without crafting it.

Ok, this is not a smart statement. It's been demonstrated with math elsewhere, but the fact is that in mod 6 you basically want your power and crit stats to be almost equal in order to maximize your DPS. That means 1 assault and 3 raid armor pieces. Especially as a trapper if you're using forestbound (I am not, since I took the extra 5% lifesteal in melee stance from combat feats), this helps you maximize the occurrence of Master Trapper - especially if you're fighting dragon heralds or other bosses on which roots are a waste of a slot. I run win hindering/longstrider's/rain against heralds because hindering adds a root in either stance, but I'd much rather be using cordon or maybe thorn ward instead. But if you didn't take the lifesteal feat, the root on 1/4 of your crits will only work if you have a high crit chance. For artifacts I am currently using a raven skull/Lostmauth's horn/sigil of the hunter/sigil of the devoted, but I have a lantern in the bank and am leveling a CW to get its sigil because both supply crit. When I'm done I'll have 13-14k crit (presently just about 10k). For now I'm using a transcendent plagurefire because the DOT used to proc all sorts of good damage, but since that doesn't work anymore (because they keep nerfing HRs into uselessness) eventually I'll switch to a terror or vorpal, haven't made up my mind yet. The recovery in raid gear is mainly useless, but if you're running a rotation that doesn't include constrict/steel breeze you'll appreciate the extra stamina.

Atm I say Hr is in such a pittyful state when it come to group utility (mostly compared to other classes) and damage that if you want to be useful you have to shine in control and group support.

To be able to do that you imho need at least 2 weapon enchants.

If non in group has plaguefire use it if non in group has terror use it if group has both use Holy to give group resist and heals.

Myself i have all 3 + vorpal for boss fights with 45+ crit to either lock down adds with daze or to get some dps out of vorpal on boss fights.

I say that radiant is a waste of space in offence slotts mainly because azur gives so much overall better result.

This is ofc as a trapper I completely given up on archery and melee ....
