What is your companion Active Bonus strategy?

I’m curious what your Companion Active Bonus strategy is. I’m more casual than a min-maxer, but Mod 6 is literally game-changing. Until Paladin came around I’ve always mained a DC. But now that my favorite class is here I’m putting considerably more thought into how I spec myself.

Class: Paladin
Paragon: Protection
Branch: Justice (full, non-hybrid)

My goal is to be a “heavy tank”; which is all about agro and survival; meaning HP and defense. One of the great ways to keep party members alive other than heals is to prevent damage in the first place. One of the things I love about Protection Paladins are the numerous tools and abilities to buff/debuff and also literally take damage for (in place of) party members. But this also means if they take a red-zone one-shot hit *I* could be the one who dies (!).

So this is my companion load-out:

Iron Golem (purple): Active = 1,200 HP
Rimefire Golem (purple): Active = 1,200 HP
Dire Wolf (purple): Active = 5% chance to interrupt your target
Sylph: (purple): Active: +50% Control resist
Dedicated Squire (blue): Active - +4% incoming healing

The golems active stack so that’s an additional 2,400 HP, which for my goal every point of HP helps. The 5% chance to interrupt from the wolf actually happens a lot more frequently than one may think - that plus the interrupt from Templar’s Wrath really help a lot. How can you go wrong when you can interrupt red zones? And the Sylph’s 50% CC resist means CC lasts only half as long which allows me to get back into the action fast as possible.

The Squire is the one I summon because his ‘powers’ apply to all allies along with myself and include healing and breaking CC along with a chance to apply debuffs to multiple mobs.

But I’m considering swapping him out for the Angel of Protection where the active bonus is to shield me 10% when resurrected; which if combined with a Soulforged would be helpful if I’m taking damage for party members and it kills me (instead of them). LOL

Thoughts? And what is your Active Bonus Strategy?

Side note:
Iron Golem and Rimefire Golem I got from AH, though I believe they are both (purple versions) Zen Market companions. Dire Wolf is account-wide part of Guardian of Neverwinter pack, Sylph is account-wide part of Knight of Feywild pack, and Squire is part of Paladin Booster pack - so I do know I am fortunate to be able to purchase this stuff over the last couple years and many people cannot create such a load-out, so I'm curious what you are creating with whatever abilities you have or choose.

    As a OP Tank:

Ofc Ioun stone of might as summoned companion: Active Bonuses: +2/3/5% Stamina Regeneration and i get all stats of the Ioun stone

    Sylph: +50% control resist

Blacksmith: On Damage Taken 15% chance to reflect 10% of damage taken. If the same target is hit 4 times it will reflect 3 times the damage taken.

Rust Monster: On Damage Taken 25% chance to inflict a 5% damage debuff on attacker. Stacks up to 3 times

    Battlefield Medic: +6% Incoming Healing.

My alt GF SM Tactician runs with Battlefield Medic (6% inc healing), Ioun Stone of Might (2% stam/guard regen), Blacksmith (damage reflect), Leprechaun (5% AoE resist) and Acolyte of Kelemvor (3% inc healing). The AoK was my first companion on my GF and with the changes to Lifesteal and the fact that I have since gotten the Battlefield Medic I'm looking for a 5th active slot. For a while I've being eyeing the Honey Badger which I might still go for. I haven't played my GF at all in Mod 6 yet but will likely lvl Spinward Rise with the Medic for the heals. Dungeons I'll probably use the stone.

don't use companions to stack HP, that's a waste of active companion slot...

    Class: Paladin
    Paragon: Protection
    Tree: Justice
    Race: Sun elf +2int +2char

I have 80% action point gain.
    Fawn of Shiallia300 recovery
    Flame Sprite2% action point gain
    Ice Sprite2% action point gain
    Sprite 2% action point gain
Ioun Stone of Allure Even if her active bonus is not working her main stat is recovery.
But I’m considering swapping him out for the Angel of Protection where the active bonus is to shield me 10% when resurrected; which if combined with a Soulforged would be helpful if I’m taking damage for party members and it kills me (instead of them). LOL

Dont do it they put Daly limit to SF for paladin only :)
Btw for paladin SF is bugged like hell .

More frequent i can cast my powers more frequent i got temp Hp , its improtant if you want to be 'A' good tank .
And daly is really important for prot paladin cuz u need to use it all time if y dont do it you will see your pt mates nubers increasing on immortal score.
Blacksmith: On Damage Taken 15% chance to reflect 10% of damage taken. If the same target is hit 4 times it will reflect 3 times the damage taken.

Not working i got 400k dmg and the reflect go back for around 200- 300 dmg from forge fire and i have purple version.,

Sadly i cant share my build cuz my engl is limited and i know ppl wont understand me .

    Dev Judge OP

    Sylph - 50% CC resist
Guardian Angel - resurrection shield --- and 5% DR as most often actve
Ioun Stone of Allure - 7% chance to slow with Encounter Powers (will be 10% after upgrade)
Priestess of Sune - +190 Deflect --- RP reasons (I'm a Pally of Sune and she's my twin sister. Also will be switched to another pet eventually)
Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow - +190 Deflect --- active skill buffs allies crit chance by +17.5%, debuffs reds' crit by -35%, also good combat AI often giving me CA.

I don't feel the need for +AP companions even though i have them in store - Justice + DC + DC Sigil does wonders. Might be an exploit, though, might be WAI, time will tell. Oh, the first DC is Divine Call, the second Devoted Cleric... :^)

I wouldn't call this anything like final, my deflect stacking so far gives ambiguous result, but the other companions I'm considering are currently beyond what I'd be willing to spend right now or unavailable. Some of which are Cockatrice, Aranea, Jagged Blade, Dire Wolf. I'm also uncertain whether I'll stay Devoted after having the campaigns done.

What I definitely won't do is line up some +dam companion - the lousy damage of the OP would make that seem so wasteful...

The Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow is just... ...well, I got her (Pack companion...), the active effect is often useful, but the boon is somewhat underwhelming. So, in midterm, she'll face a life on the idle roster, being dragged out when it seems appropriate (whenever that +Crit can turn a fight)

I used priestess of sune when leveling +190 Deflect is nothing but
-->Blessings of Sune: Wraps you with the Blessing of Sune, making you more difficult to hit by increasing Deflection for 4 seconds
think its 3 or 4% defelction buff can´t say if it works as intended
Sune's Grace: The power of Sune's Grace heals 3%-18% of owners Max Health over 5 seconds.
Sune's Gift: Increases the power of Sune's Grace by 25%. This power unlocks at companion rank 30.

but all in all get the compagnion equippement, its +6 Slots
if you put 6 rank 10 inside and take 3 perfect bonding runestone (in her case thats 3x 560 defence)
    now she has 2607 defence and + 1305 regeneration (3x869 defence + 3x435 regeneration)
    + 1680 defence (3xP-Bond) + 1560 defence (3xR10) + 1560 Power/crit/arp regen (what you want)

bonding rune stone gives you 65% buff, thats in this case + 3800 defence and 848 regen and 1014 crit f.e
this buff stacks, as someone told me, up to 5 times so you can buff your stats for about 3800-19000 defence, 848 - 4240 regen and 1040 - 5070 crit !!!

    19k defence is ähm + 50% DR ? thats a number !
if some one can confirm this since I did not test it but a guildmember
in case she is dead you are screwed :)

I stick with augment and buff my stats for a fix number with cheap (6x rank 7+ 3x small bonding runestone)
    its all in all a save: 1960 arp+ 2875 power + 570 crit + 2400 HP

It does stack, but for that to really work you'd need a companion that procs its actions more often. Though even only one stack is nice to have, too.

...alternatively you can slot eldritch runestones in her defensive slots (which I did), which _always_ give you +__% of her stats (8.5@R7, 10@R10 per slot), making her a kind of hybrid aug/heal companion. Has it's charms, but... ...I just bought me a cockatrice. Didn't yet slot it, though, still pondering.

I have a question, suppose I slot an Eldritch Rank 7 into my Active but not summoned Sylph companion(purple), will it still grant me 8.5% of her stats?

    No. Summoned only.

Just think it through: This would be ridiculously powerful: 4 additional 30% augment pets? Cannot, must not. will not...

    I tend to use:

    Erinyes of Belial
    Vicious Dire Wolf
    Sylph
    Rebel Mercenary
This last one tends to vary from character to character - could be an Alchemist Experimenter, Angel of Protection, Lillend, etc.

I'm a Control Wizard, so I use both the Cantankerous Mage and the Will-o-wisp - giving me a Control Bonus of 40%. Stacking this with ToD boons and Valindra's set, I'm already at 70% control bonus, plus other points that are added from Artifacts, etc.

For the other Companions I have Archons and a Black Dragon Ioun stone. I've been tweaking a few things around at times to see if I can get better survivability from other companions, but so far the rotation I have is working fine.

    I am a DC.
And i use Ioun stone of Allure.
For extra stats. In Tiamat, or dungeons.

Or a mimic as a tank.
It was a very good suggestion, recieved from suicidalgodot.
If you need someone to tank zones for you while you do your dailys. =)

Regarding the stats i recieve from the stone here is a picture :

Air Archont: +5% Damage if the enemy is damaged
Fire Archont: +5% Damage is enemy is below 30% health - Makes a great combo with Air Archont because 11% extra Damage for enemies below 30% health because if you have an additional Archont everyone get + 0.5% extra damage.
    Erinye: +10% CritServerity
Wild Hunt Rider: 5% chance to deal 10% extra damage for 5 seconds. As a Trickster Rogue the Bonus should prog pretty often.
Cat is my active companion and enhance my stats further and grants me additional Deflect and reduce fall damage, not a particular good active bonus compared to other stuff but i wanted the cat for the looks (^.^)
