Question regarding targeting: Invalid target arguments

I just got back basically this past week, and now as I get more into the team game and exploring my abilities as a Oath of Protection Paladin, I am noticing that I am getting a lot of invalid target return arguments when other players or friendly ally NPCs are standing in the way of my abilities when I am trying to use them, so my question is this;
Is this a recent thing, a bug with protection paladin, or a bug in general introduced in mod 6 because with my devotion cleric and scourge warlock I don't ever recall having this issue. Either way it's a really annoying thing because of how hit boxes work and trying to maneuver around, especially in melee-centric situations with a bunch of melee happy players tends to be annoying as hell when every move I make I can't use one power because I am constantly being told that the target is invalid even though I am still whacking on the bad guy.
