Shores of Tuern Questions (Non-Epic)

I recently finished the campaign and gained access to the Shores of Tuern.
A few quick and simple questions if anyone has time.
I've completed it 5 times to start off with now, and the queue guide says that epic items are available here but I have yet to notice any drop. Are these entirely random drops off of mobs or available in the skirmish chest?
Along the same lines, I notice a separate chest there that I need a dragon key or something to get into.
How do I open these chests?
Are they worth opening?
I don't have the gear score for epic shores, is the basic shores my best bet at getting better equipment, or at least getting AD in order to access better gear?

    You can get the Mystic Dragon Key from the box above the box that unlocked the skirmish in the Tyranny of Dragons campaign. It's a repeatable task that takes 20 hours and needs 6 Dragon Sigils among some other currencies. Basically you can get 1 key every day. That key opens the other chest at the end of the skirmish. My experience though is that it's not worth it. I've opened a bunch and I'm yet to get anything Epic.

    In the normal theres a random epic drop after the ambush part normally a neck and a ring will have a chance to drop and a random drop from Garkas which is either the dragon book or a epic piece Ive only seen a head piece drop and in the normal end chest Ive gotten dragon gems twice.
    To open the other chest you need a legendary dragon key I suggest getting the 5 pack in the zen market for 300 zen instead of the campaign keys.(since the legendary dragon keys work in both the skirmish and the dungeon.)
    Secondly they are worth opening since it gives you another chance to get the book or a dragon gem I personally don't need the infernal or dragon sets and you don't use up a key if you just look you only use a key if you actually take the items in the chest so once again it doesn't hurt to look.
    At least for me I can't do epic shores with randoms even tho the epic is suppose to have better drop rates your best bet is to do the normal shores anyways its a lot easier and faster.

    It depends on how you want to make AD. If by salvaging Epic items then no, it's not worth it. Very slim chance to get anything from that skirmish. And if there's a skirmish event that gives 1000 AD for completing any skirmish then you're better off with some of the easier skirmishes.

    Ran Shores (Non-Epic) at least 50 times now, so far got:

    6-8 Dragon Gems (Chest)
    5 Cult of the Dragon Main Hands (Chest)
    10 Infernal Helmets (Chest) + 1 Infernal Helmet (Boss)
    1 Rare Book for Tier 4 Boon (Boss)

    This is a combination of using both chests. I've bought 10 dragon keys and earned 2 through the campaign so far and I have 6-7 left (so at least half of my loot has came from the second chest).

    The waves that happen earlier have provided me with a Shores Necklace and I've seen the two rings drop at least 10 times and I've lost every roll lol.

    Working on Epic Shores now but have only ran it twice with no drops.

    Edit: Forgot to mention I only use a key on the second chest if a Dragon Gem is inside, otherwise only worth a peek.

    That's some pretty good odds.
    I've done about 25 now, gotten one shores necklace.
    Been popping open chests and looking inside as suggested above, havent seen anything inside yet, but ya never know.

    Edit: According to my Draconic Enchantments I've done it 39 times. I've seen 2 amulets drop off of the ambush section, 2 daggers drop from final boss, and 2 helmets in the final chest.
    Have yet to see anything in the dragon chest, or find anything worth selling (bad loot rolls :P).
    But it gets about 1gold per run.
    Not sure where to go to make AD anymore =/
