To tank or not to tank..

This is an excerpt from wiki:

"Tanking" occurs when the unit is intended to be the one taking damage (typically by being dangerous or detrimental, or using a game mechanic that forces it to be targeted), and secondly, to ensure that they can survive this damage through sheer health points or mitigation.

Do you folks agree with this and is it possible in current M6?

Personally I see tanks just as described above and no, its not possible in mod 6, because tanks, even tho they have the most HP, simply cant mitigate damage in the hundreds of thousands.

Flat tanking no. Eventually they will wear you down. A good tank with a good healer can hold aggo long enough to render the mobs.

I agree with the description (it's the same description that's been used for decades). Is it possible in Mod 6: yes. And no. It depends on which part of Mod 6 you refer to. and of course to "tank" doesn't mean to "be invincible"; but those areas where heavy tanks get one-shot trip to campfire are definitely questionable.

But in general and on topic: The answer to the OP is Yes: correct description and Yes: it still applies in Mod 6 (the description always applies no matter what; it's a definition). Of course the parts of Mod 6 you are referring to need to have a serious reevaluation by the Devs with regard to combat balancing.

    a) "to tank" is used in different meanings: Everybody can "tank" where the damage done to him or her is less than dangerous or his/her healing rate, and they can hence cease evasive action. It's however also used for the aggro-generating hard-shell or high-regen build playstyle.
    b) "tank" as a noun is perfectly described by the above. Nowhere does it say that this has to be possible without either self- or external heals, and neither that this has to succeed always and everywhere, though c)
[...]those areas where heavy tanks get one-shot trip to campfire are definitely questionable.
    [...]
is a reasonable and identical-to-mine opinion.

    Yep I agree with this

We can't be the damage sponge we were and have not become a damage generator

This is an issue of balance which will need to be addressed very soon

It will be interesting to see how it will be addressed

inb4 dio's "game is prefectly balanced l2p" garbage.
Broken mechanics, broken class designs, lack of actual content, and over zealous, bronze-age moderation?

i like tank to new module i can do it easy till the bug kicks in the block that is kill us and we think are the mobs.NO are not the mobs.I remember tanking lostmauth laser when block is ok scratch me and when block bugs i get a nice 250k damage.AND is even more easy for all when poeple dont sleep and avoid attacks when i open valor. AND when controler place in right timing his controls.POEPLE sleeping deal with it.CONTROL WIZARD is too pro says : i dont use shield i cant control with shield.NICE thoughts is better no shield full damage with 10% dr and give tones of damage on valor AND pt all the time after cw to ress :).
GWf still thinks that can tank a last example was gf placed syndrith to hit him and i saw gwf to same side so they will get both the damage from the knockback or the one shot attack.

ANYWAY the point is when my pt is not lazy and avoid attacks all are good with valor.

Need to agree with mamal, as long as shields dont get bugged, evrythings is fine, in all 3 t1s and in eToS & eGWD, only problem is this prick in eCC.
