No voice chat using Xbox One headset

Is there any reason using my Xbox One chat headset I cannot hear anyone in the headset? I only faintly hear voice through the TV? Frustrating when grouping and I can't voice chat with other players. I have no way to tell if they can hear me as well?

Any feedback on this issue is much appreciated. Thanks.

    In game chat can sometimes be very laggy your best bet is to invite everyone to a party then either wait and see if someone joins or sends you an invite since they already had a party started.

    Thanks for the tip holyfuzion. I do hope in a future update or patch this headset issue can be fixed. My guess is any XB1 player using the base headset is experiencing the same problem. It could be much more enhanced and fun if players had successful in-game party chat.
