I know this has been there for about 6 months, but this is an issue. As what I believe to be an intelligent player, I find myself feeling disappointed in the tooltips in this game.
To be more specific, I'm talking about the POWER tooltips. Like the Great Weapon Fighter's Not So Fast and Restoring Strike.
Not So Fast:
Release a fast spinning slice to the legs of enemies around you, briefly Slowing them. Damage is slightly reduced for every target you hit after the first.
So, how long is this slow? How much does it slow? How much is it reduced per target hit? Does anyone know? Do the devs even know? Because for 7 months it's said these exact words and never been changed.
Restoring Strike:
You slice through a single target in front of you with merciless satisfaction, Healing yourself based on the damage dealt and restoring Stamina.
Ranks 2-4: Damage +10%, Heal +10%
So it heals 30%? I mean, when you put points in it, you see the damage increase on the tooltip, but no mention about the healing increase at all besides +10%. And does the heal% increase also affect the Stamina increase?
Issues like this make it hard to evaluate powers. Whether a player is new or not, having to search on various wikis and websites just to try to find GUESSES about the answers to these questions in very detrimental to the fun of playing the game. A new player will look at it and go "Yay, it heals and deals good damage", but if it only heals 5%, shouldn't the player know so they can make an informed decision, so they don't run in with 20% HP and think that Restoring Strike will save them?
Also, patch notes for Module 6 said that GWF At-Will abilities that AoE, such as Reaping Strike, Weapon Master Strike, and Wicked Strike, no longer deal reduced damage per enemy hit after the first, but all 3 At-Wills still says they do in the in-game tooltip.
Please correct these things. It helps long-term players to recognize changes to their favorite characters just by reading tooltip changes without having to resort to patch notes, and helps new players choose abilities without being underwhelmed, confused or surprised when the ability doesn't work how they expect it to. For example, when I logged into my GWF, I looked at Grand Fissure and thought "oh man, this is like the Guardian Fighter's knockdown/stun daily, this will be strong! I bet that slow is really good too!", but I have to make a guess just how long the slow lasts (5 seconds or so?), and it only slows like 20% (barely slows, hardly making up for the long animation). I'm very underwhelmed by that ability, but that's a story for another time.
Sorry this post went on long, but I wanted to make sure I was clear about my feelings about the subject. I hope this gets looked at soon. I mean, I want new content as much as the next guy, but I'd much rather the dev team focus on clarifying and optimizing this game before putting anything new out (less lag, better buff/debuff tooltips, better power descriptions, and so on and so forth).
Thanks for reading this.
