True.. I have fought against one of their GF's and TR's in a match..we were wiped out in the first min of the game. They decided to cap trade with us, which was nice, but then then their idiot TR attacked me (I was playing my TR) while capping a point, he was trying to be cool or something..not sure. Well... I was nearly half dead when I decided to show him what a REAL TR could do... and killed him... it was FREAKIN laughable... yeah..they have mommy and daddy's money and all have rank 12's... BLAH BLAH BLAH...

til i have my all perfect runes artifacts etc (lets face it ill never have it since i dont use bots exploits or have a very fat wallet)only then i will agree for a premade fight, till then i think ill stay with pugging and every once in a while meet some high "endgame" pvp player and do some nice 1v1 with him.

The op said they would gear down. And to be honest, if you don't pug que with at least one other person it is a 50/50 chance anyone else on your team will grasp the fundamentals of the game well enough to even have a chance at winning.

I dont think any guild poses an actual threat to you guys, by far. Its a nice consent that you want to gear down to get a premade tho.

But, unless EoA suddenly rises up from the dead i doubt anyone will challenge you. Good luck tho

I'd LOVE to be in a match with NOTHING but main & off hands ONLY. No other gear. That would be a VERY fun/interesting match.

This happens in any small-mid sized MMOG. The "End days of PvP" scenario. ESPECIALLY when the PvP scene becomes monetary investment to keep competency. Let's face it. Everyone knows it's impossible to have that much gear advantage as some people who've already arrived at the maximal BiS status when it's been like only a month since mod6, without pumping money into the game.

In my case I've been inclined to more or less give up PvP, and perhaps give up the game itself since now there's no way I can spend all that money to get my character to the same level of competency as the premade guys. Even in prior mods I've been always fighting with gear grade a notch or two below those people... and now, with mod6, I'm supposed to pump like 10~12 more enchants 4 more ranks up, as well as refine all four artifacts to mythic status, plus both mainhand and offhand?? That's more than hundreds of dollars -- either that, or I spend the next 12 months to grind stuff, and just be satisfied with always being weaker and less effective than those who actually did invest that much money into a game.

Enough is enough. Basically the devs are killing their own game, or at least an important part of it which many people have enjoyed so far. Realistically speaking, I, in my own good conscience, cannot tell a new player that if he just plays the game and tries hard enough, he'll soon catch up with the gear advancement and will be able to enjoy PvP on the same level as others -- because this is simply fekking lying true one's teeth.

There's no way someone new can ever catch up to others and be on equal footing no matter how hard he tries, unless he decides to spend like hundreds of dollars to buy everything, because the current refining system is fekking disgusting. It's more than one can expect in a F2P business model. I'd support it if it was like maybe 20~30 bucks every couple of months or so, which would basically be similar to subscription business model games... but this..?? It's exploitation to the utmost -- gross and obscene levels that milks money from people like an open faucet throws out water.

    ...

Cryptic should remember how much the fans stood and backed them up during their fledgling days of CoH/CoV. Now, they just stab us in the back and expect money flow from the wound.

    Despicable.

There's also the flawed premise of refusing to address class balance issues in PvP. It almost seems as if they purposefully enforce these imbalances, banking on people making alts of the new strong class so they'll be forced to shell out to gear up fast to remain relevant.

It becomes "if you want to succeed in PvP or have fun at all, better have the class that they let run rampant this mod" and if you don't, you may as well just sit out.

And if you want to actually alter your build on the live server, you'd have to shell out a huge amount to change enchantments.

They don't seem to playtest any class changes they do implement and display a lack of knowledge in class mechanics (as evidenced in previous PvP dev livestreams which are now strangely absent).

It takes so much to gear up and get the perfect build to only realize at the end that there's maybe 4-5 people online at a time who will play on a similar level with you.
And then to further realize that the build/gear/etc has been updated and you'll need to grind it out again to be in that alienated position.

I am always shocked to see BIS characters now given the extremely unstable nature of this game. Cryptic is not even demonstrating that they can keep an mmo functioning. Spending all that money right now is something a person does on faith that things will be fixed, and I mean just fixed. That rank 4 powers will work, so on. The game is very very buggy. Patches do things like change the bound status of bags and not address the bugs or broken things in game. It is like spending the money to trick out a car that barely runs and leaves a trail of smoke everywhere it goes.

Pretty much this.... I was somewhat in an okay spot with my Perfects and rank 8's + Legendaries (Artifacts/Artifact gear) in module 5 and could pre-made just fine.

Now I feel like a peasant with my perfects (Most PVPers already have transcendents wtf?) and rank 8's (4 rank difference from BIS...) and even legendary artifacts. This discourages me from even playing, I barely even log in the game anymore. Mythic is way too much for me to achieve given how semi-casual I am. And I still have my level 60 arti gear. I'm still doing well overall, but I haven't tried a PMvsPM yet, but I'm pretty sure I won't be of any use, or barely, because of my current state.

This will never be a skill based game in PVP, it's gear-on-gear-on-gear.

My last hope for these devs is the next PVP "thing" (See sticky). If it turns out to be an utter disappointment, which wouldn't surprise me. It'll be the last straw for me.

I am not convinced of this. There is a gear-ceiling where you run into people of equal skill but better gear, and your not getting past that. But of the less geared, equal geared and less or equal skilled, there is still a ton of good matches to be had.

Again, the original poster offered to downgrade gear to the level of challengers.

I agree with mirrorballs as well and I'm pretty much in the same boat as you two. I've developed some new techniques that have helped as a Whisperknife and self control has gotten the better of me so no MI for me. I'm well on my way to upgrading my PvP armor, but I won't be refining anything or upgrading to level 70 weapons until there is a 2x refinement weekend.

I'm just going to keep up with professions, hoard resources and see if the devs can pull out a minor miracle. At this rate I might be BiS/maxed in after 3 2x refinement events. Brutal.

Extended stealth never did it for me, I still enjoy MI exec. Between itc, stealth, chaining dazes, and good damage, I think it is still fun and viable even if not bis. Given that the new 'bis' weapons don't even have an open weapon enchantment slot till they are refined, that + slightly better stats on ensorcelled arsenal weapons make them a better choice than unrefined artifact weapons. Viable.

My humble opinion anyways. pvp still has some life in it for the non bis player.

I have played against your premade a couple times. Where is the fun a) playing with a group that wins 99% of the time with NO challenge b) playing againt people you know won't be a challenge?

All the while spamming the same spells every match too. You are in large part what is wrong with the PvP in this game.

Have it excactly the same way, was not top of the line pvp'er, but did pretty fine overall, and had fun in most pvp matches i played. Now the gap betweeen BIS and semi casuals like myself, have just gotten so extremly high that there is excactly no fun in pvp no more... And yeah with the way cryptic runs the game, i will never spend another dime on stuff just to see them become obsolete a month later... Imo this game is dead, and i doubt we will se more than 1-2 more mods, before they shut it Down.

Here is to hoping the changes that have been "leaked" since the bugged NPC Dougan was introduced for the Champions league, actually happen. If the matchmaking (well, lack there of) remains the same, PvP in this game will remain obsolete, if not die out all together. If they happen to actually add a matchmaking your team will find it very hard to ever find a match, if not impossible to find one.

Even adding matchmaking won't entirely fix the broken, boring PvP in this game. Not until they also address the ridiculous class imbalances. Which anyone who has played this game long enough knows, they haven't to this point.
