I've leveled a OP to 70 through the 16 task grinds and they were hard enough. I wondered how someone that was squishy could possibly do this if I was getting beaten down as an OP.
So I hit 60 with my SW and decided to go back and do everything else but the new content. I got to 68. I then bought all blue items at the max level I can use (67-68) and fitted with all rank 5 enchants with item level of 1621. I have the Angel of Protection healing companion at max rank. One of my missions is to kill Axe Beaks. They hit for 10k each. So if I have more than 2...I'm pretty much insta-killed. I can barely finish killing any group with 3 mobs. Add a 4th and I'm done.
I am Hellbringer spec and HAVE to slot vamp embrace. I also use fiery bolt and killing flames. I didn't go the perma shadow puppet route...maybe that will afford me some more survivability. I am at a loss because I cannot do this content. Do I need to go back and do the earlier tasks until I hit 70 so that I can just barely do the level 67 content? Am I totally playing this SW wrong. Do I just need to shelve this guy until they change the difficulty?
This game pisses me off more than anything at this point. It FAR more frustrating than fun.
The underlined, colored word is your problem. Sacrifice the mediocre dps and survivability of Hellbringer for Soulbinder (can do Fury here to.). Make sure every piece of gear you have has hit points, defense, life steal, and armor pen for leveling. As far as companion goes I have been using my Khentarim Warlock and the synergy between me and her could only be better if the developers scale her hit points (legendary capped at 34k.).
Also, working with a group on those quests with people that has kept up on gear makes killing those strides easy as pie.
The only place where I have found a companion over a August (Ioun stone), completely worthless is the Bulette heroic where they tunnel under the ground. Companion is incapped almost 99% of the time.
I may not be considered by most the BEST PVP Warlock on the server but, I am the most HATED amongst them.
That is my typical setup and with all blue items at my level and r5 enchants in all the gear, it is impossible to survive. I now use DT, Vamp, Grasp. This setup so far has given me the best survivability but I still get crunched pretty darn easy.
Absolutely. But how to get the gear if the place you need to get the gear is impossible to do without the gear? I really hate PvP so I rather park my SW if that is the only option.
Here is what vexes me. It cannot be the intention to force people to PvP to get gear to be able to complete the PvE content. It also cannot be the intention to force people to group after we learned this the hard way from Everquest 20 years ago. It cannot be the intention to do an impossibly hard level 70 zone that rewards level 60 gear. Ghost stories for instance. There is no way a sub level 70 toon can complete this solo (well, almost impossible). So why make it a requirement as you are doing the campaign that is designed for lower levels? So I really wonder what the intentions are/were with all these changes. It's just really odd and feels totally out of whack.
My level 70 OP that has about 1800 item level feels about right with all this content. But getting there was a struggle. Not really a fun struggle. But looking back, a total breeze next to my SW.
I bought the mod 6 blue gear from WoD for my SW because she doesn't do pvp and didn't have the glory for that gear. The HP increase really made a difference for me. I'm still traveling with the blacksmith companion because he gets out there and takes a lot of hits while I can regroup. It's definitely tough though. That lifesteal nerf just killed us...literally. I really hope they do something to return that in some form to us. My SW used to be a very solid contributor in dungeons with my team, and now I'm using my HR because my SW will get one-shot dead in spite of increased HP.
I will not agree with most of the people here. Im finnishing with my warlock also and I find the good old Accursed daibolist the best basically because the long it take me to kill anything the higher the odd i will get killed. Rigth now Im halfway on lvl68 and after trying the lvl61 WoD set Ive end up going back to diabolist, I guess for most of the classes the WoD set is better but with the lack of control skills (SW has not a single encounter for AoE control) I prefer to kill everything as fast as I can before I get chopped into pieces. BTW, Im using a somehow hibrid feats with just enough for temptation capstone and the rest on Fury for higher damage. Anyway, WoD set, diabolist set, PVP set or whatever other set u wanna use the SW is going to still be squishy since the character creation window.
[...]When the game says "recommanded" then it's better, and this time, the system works fine. [...]
With all due respect, this is bull****.
When the game says "recommeded" this means the recommended item has a higher sale price at local vendors. That price is heavily influenced by the item's base level, and completely, utterly, and irreparably broken for level-adaptive gear (because Lvl = min Lvl to equip = 1, specialties like Eternal excluded, but even there it's borked...).

I diasgree with you on this, I had same epic set and was frustrated as hell from getting one spotted by any and every mob. Now with the blue set and companion bonus (Even without my Accursed's bonus.). I have been face tanking these mobs and still coming out at full health. I'll put up what I am wearing currently with enchants and spec.

I looked on the AH for blue SW gear with hit points. There are lots of available pieces, many are pvp gear with tenacity, but some with pve stats -- and they would increase your HPs by easily 20k. Each piece 3-5k AD, quite reasonable.
Oh man, i was looking and cannot find anything, I should have add min lvl lol... when you say that i thought something was wrong with my search ahah. When I'm 70 I can buy something
Edit: Now I have 60k hp, all rare equipment! I'll try some quest now.
Edit2: Better but, still can't finish...

^ I also had success with the Accursed set as a soulebinder temp. I didn't run many of the quests, however, I just killed bulettes and giants to get to 70. It was a bit of work but I pretty much just changed my playstyle a bit. I enjoy the tanky Soulebinder more than my other Fury.
As a follow up, I finally hit 70. I have had all blue gear with rank 5 enchants the entire time through leveling. I could barely do Spinward at level 68/69. The ONLY build that was viable was vamp, grasp, and bargain. Most of the time it was fairly dicey with 3. 4 was death at 68 and I could just survive at 69. I also found that having my angle of protection worked better than my earth archon defender.
At 70, I bought all new blues and got my level 70 artifact and cape. My item level is almost 1700. I decided to try Spinward again with my regular setup (fires, dreadtheft, fiery bolt). It was doable but could get dicey if there were 4. If another group attacked I was almost certainly dead. I used my healer pet. The defender pet wasn't much better.
I switched back to the vamp, grasp, bargain. Tried with my defender pet. MUCH more survivable but I ended with about 1/4 health every battle. I used the healer pet and there were no problems. I felt very confident I could take on groups of 4 with no problem. The issue with this build is that it is SLOW...very slow. It is taking about twice as long to complete these quests.
I couldn't have imagined trying to level from 61-70 using the new content. The ONLY way I was able to do this was because of the double XP and I had a TON of previous missions I did not complete. Maybe 3 entire zones I skipped. I did the daily dragon stuff and the elemental runs. Once this double xp ends, this is going to be painful especially since they are talking about reducing the amount of xp you get for missions.
