Since there are so many changes, fixes, recodes, etc going on I figured I would just start up an idea thread that the devs could maybe pull from in the future.
If you had the chance for a new companion, what would it be? An owlbear? A displacer beast cub? Maybe you have a contract with a marut?
Would be pretty funny to have Akro as a companion. In all seriousness i would like to be able to have the ability to have an alt as a companion. That way my toons that are in the retirement home can be useful again.

That IS a cool idea.
Probably a technical nightmare, but a fun idea, none the less

While the idea is great, it won't happen, as it would utterly destroy the game balance.
The three things that came to my mind:
- A profession interface where tasks can be queued
- A highly challenging open world zone with an exclusive, visible award, e.g. dye and/or title.
- An interface to control/modify companion behaviour to some extent. Would be nice if this gradually unlocked with increasing companion level.

1) Playable t2 dungeons.
2) No more constant one-shots (see 1).
3) Actual bug fixes that show there's been some attention paid to the issues raised repeatedly and for a long time by the player base (e.g. dragon's hoard enchantments, Shadow Of Demise, astral seal and knight's valor and now prism causing huge lag, and really I'm not going to try to summarize the gigantic list here as it would take all week).
4) Being able to queue professions tasks is a great idea - at the very least an option to make them repeat until told to do otherwise
5) The 80% we were dishonestly promised as refinement value for old artifact equipment.
6) The increased chance of finding high level refinement items at level 70 that we were promised right before hoard enchantments were wrecked.
7) A walk-back on life steal, regeneration, defense and deflect to make them all meaningful again.
8) A redesign of all classes to make absolutely every paragon path and feat tree worth playing in both pve and pvp.
9) Meaningful healing potions at level 70. Mobs have them, why don't we?
10) Meaningful HP and regeneration on resurrection from a soulforged enchantment at level 70.
11) One injury per death, maximum, so no one has to come back from a resurrection and spend 3-5 injury kits before getting back in a fight.
12) Meaningful healing from abilities like Oak Skin at level 70.
13) A way to establish ****-proof instances for, for example, Tiamat and herald runs, so no one entering can use lag bomb abilities or pointlessly sit on the campfire.
14) A walk-back on all the level 60 zones so newer players (I've been around since mod 2, so this isn't me) can actually gain the boons from them.

All this, so I don't have to restate it; and in addition:
1: Griffin cash shop mount (yes cash shop, not lockbox)
2: Displacer beast companion (why not? We already have extra-planar mounts)
