How it is fighting Frost Giants and Biggrin's Tomb now. Thanks, Cryptic! You have fallen in business!

I did Biggrin yesterday with a 2,3k iLvl CW, and didn't fall one time. Freezing everything instantly with Icy veins helps a lot.

Why do you keep on blaming Cryptic instead of trying to improve yourself?

You were a Biggrin doing Biggrin? That's pretty meta ...

Is now a bad time to point out that not everyone plays a CW? Or that not evey class can lock down as well as a CW can?

I think a more useful question would have been "Well, what class were you playing, and what powers were you running?"

Everytime I do those 2 stupid dailies from PE with Minsc I get injury icon and have to use the kit, although all the time my HP remains above 50%.

Ok? Sorry to hear that, if you never actually died, it's obviously from the traps...but how is that relevant to the thread? This isn't really about getting Injuries, despite the subject line. It's about the absurd difficulty of the maps like IWD and Biggrin's now. Let's not go off the rails, Cryptic does that enough on its own.

WHAT DIFFICULTY ? i must have missed the difficulty somehow when running IWD

Failing a lair is by default the players fault. Now then, let's examine where you failed, and how you can improve? Post class, paragon, featpath and encounter rotations.

I was running a CW Thaumaturge w/end cap Assailant feat (w/2 of the new blue pieces of BI armor for about 45k hp total, sad that I have to point that out now) with 4-dot Chill Strike (tabbed), Shield, Sudden Storm (I do have the Oppressor feat which makes this add 5 stacks of Chill) and Steal Time. Eye of the Storm and Storm Spell in Features, Ice Knife and Arcane Sing in Dailies, Chilling Cloud and Ray of Frost in At-Wills. My weapons make Chilling Cloud have a chance to Chill opponents near the target, and Storm Spell has a chance to proc twice. This setup has been working rather well against most mobs, Cloud Giants, etc. Level 73 Frost Giants? Not so much.

Looking at Oppressor now and comparing to Thaumaturge, I am debating a respec to Oppressor. Thaumaturge seems to have been gutted & you can't quite reach Icy Veins without being full Oppressor. But I am waiting until after Thursday's patch to see what they F up next.

There's nothing unusual with your setup, there's a lot of thauma CWs out there, using approximately the same.
You can reach Icy veins without fully speccing Oppressor, I have Renegade capstone and Icy Veins myself.

Being a thaumaturge, with spell twisting and Icy Veins, you could be a great freezing machine with the ability to use encounters really fast.

I'd go for shield on tab and Icy terrain instead of chill Strike though.

    Doh.

Really thrilled to se the 5x CW dungeon raids again. Might even work, but probably won't. Also, I'm glad I have my DC through IwD already, though I'm considering rerunning it with an alt-DC...

Do it with HR, SW, Virt/Faith-DC, heck, even G(W)F, and report back.

no, im one of ppl pissed off by noobs who want all content nerfed to **** because they feel like all content(including dungeons) should be soloable in greens and rank 5's and no skill/effort whatsoever

its and undead Biggrin ffs he even withstood aegis fang to the head

though a nice idea about head jumping

Why would I? OP is having problems when using a CW, I can advise him how to play it, I don't know much about playing those classes.

I'm renegade spec and I have no issue reaching icy veins in the oppressor tree. if you want to stay thaum you'll most likely have to give up critical power from the rene tree so you can get better control from icy veins.

Part of the issue I see here is spell choice. I would recommend swapping out arcane singularity for oppressive force, since arcane singularity hasn't been all that great since the target cap nerf. This change will give you some nice aoe burst damage that you can use on multiple uncontrollable targets (such as those frost giants you are having troubles with).

my main suggestion for your encounter powers would be to drop chill strike and use shield on tab, the damage resistance gained when it on tab is far superior to when its in another spell slot and will help alot. As for the rest of your powers I would recommend slotting steal time, icy terrain, and sudden storm.

But it's not really relevant since OP plays a CW.

2300 is pretty buff. I was at that in Eternal gear with elemental weapon set. Had to pick up a couple pieces of PVP gear (the t1 purple, not t2) to get over 2400.

the ilvl requirement of t1 dungeons is only 1600. obviously daily quests in IWD shouldn't require more than that.

plain fact is endgame difficulty is flat broken, anyone saying otherwise is either a BIS wallet warrior, or hasn't tried it, or a fool. period.

Your catching the traps. It's another "feature" of mod 6. Traps now give you injuries even if they dont kill you.

Ummm just how has Thaumaturge been "rendered useless"?

My main does not feel useless, plus he has icy veins...

Agreed. Thaum+ Oppressor seems to be extremely viable for end-game solo content. (Even though I'm not happy that the +Oppressor build means I need to invest in Sudden Strorm before getting to Icy Veins)

shield on tab is your key. it's basically mandatory for cw past level 68 or so.

I'm renegade (cap) and just enough for icy veins at level 70. next time I respec (not soon since I'm broke from re-leveling artifacts) I'll skip the sudden storm paragon option and choose something else, like brisk transport.. :P
