Refining Your New Artifact Weapon

So... With a shiny new Artifact Weapon (and a new Off-Hand) in my possession thanks to Module 6's quests, the question comes about refining these. Do I just go ahead and plunge my old Legendary Level 60 equipment into the new Level 70 equipment? It seems that's what the Developers are intending. Then again, if I wait until a double-RP weekend, that investment will go a lot further. But, for all we know, there are no double-RP weekends in the future. Or, if they are, they're probably a long ways off. So should I be patient and live with the (now) blue equipment and hope for something to show up on the calendar? Or will that be months of frustrating, under-powered gear? Should I just go ahead and do it now?

It seems that, contrary to popular belief, the RP return on your old weapons are in fact giving 80% and not 40%. I, myself, will be waiting until double RP event (it will come sooner rather than later) to refine my new gear - only question is: will it give 160% RP return?

Nope. I dropped my old artifact into my new artifact, and got 40% of the refinement points worth from it... sorry.. 43%.

Level 41 Artifact weapon should have been worth ~198k RP. I got 85k for it. 85k/198k = 43%

If I put my legendary MH into my brand new MH, I get exactly 1,858,772 refinement points. It takes 4,645,200 to make it legendary. 1,858,772/4,645,200 = 40.001489709807974%.

Yes, this is 80% of the way in regards to Rank (rank 48 without any other refining), it is 40% of the way to Rank 60 Refinement point wise, which is a far more important measure.

If you wait for double RP, you will be 80% of the way to legendary in terms of RP useage, and the item will be rank 57 or so and require another 800k RP or so.

Please be careful in how you state things. Being right or wrong withstanding, stating something that can be misinterpreted could end up costing people millions.

I was only referring to the RP given back, which looking at the graph on the NW Wiki shows double the amount received. Devs said 40% return, but it seems twice that in my experience and everyone in my guild that has gone through the process already. I tested with my lvl 32 OH while guildies refined both MH and OH and got twice the value back than what was stated. We thought it was just critting but crits don't show up before you press that button.

Not even gonna bother trying, they completely nerfed the dragon hoard enchantments, RP rarely drop now. I am not prepared to grind my gear again... The only way to get Legendary is to pay a lot of money.

So as far as I am concerned cryptic can suck my dirty...

Do NOT refine anything because ... after you will be done and refined it to the max, they will put some new ones on the field !
Happened before, will happen again. I got weapon to orange value ... and belt and now ... RP down the drain :)
You know what QQ $$ means ? ("crying about money lost")

DO NOT dump your current artifact weapons into the new ones until a 2x Refinement event. This mod, no matter what they do on the 23rd, should be treated as a transition. Even if they never do 2x in this mod, the amount of RP at risk is just not worth it. Be patient. This Mod is not worth investing AD in. The devs basically went with the nuclear option and we are in the middle of the fallout.

2nd this advice. And will repeat everyone else... get it up to Epic level (purple), then stop. Hold off for the possible 2x RP weekend a few months down the line. Even if they never do one again... /shrug.

They had some crafted weapons on Preview awhile back that had higher top damage than a Legendary main hand arti weapon. Best to hold of wasting RP until we know whether or not these or new Arti weapons are arriving.

I used some of my stacks of gems to get to purple...

Then 2x weekend to get past that.

I refined my MH/OH to blue and waiting for double RP to dump my old pieces in them.

Currently waiting for double RP to even start my neck and belt, that idea might change though.

If u have a legendary lvl60 keep it till the next 2x RP event. You should also check they are not replacing new arti weapon a few week after as they did the las 2x RP event, because thats another strategy they used before to make u waste all ur RP points on something they were planning to make obsolete. This mod dont have anything worth doing at end game to loose all ur RP points on something that will not last more than a few months.

While it's certainly not the case that this equipment will be best in slot forever, we will not be raising the level cap again any time soon, so expect this equipment to be useful for quite some time

However, I'm sure they said something to this effect prior to Mod 6 too...
