Since SoD will "hit" and the damage may or may not come off of the mob... and it being whittled down to single target... has the Exec "burst" DPS build gone to hell?
The rotation I have used with great success in SOLO PvE was this.
Stealth + LB - Smoke - Path of Blades, then stealth until LB, or SB re back up, for all-crit damage. I fine tuned this in Spinward Rise. Occasional for fast moving situations I would use Blitz.
Here is the problem I was having occasionally... SoD would not proc or if it did the initial damage would not come off. Then it became a DPS race. Often times I would lose unless I would get a stealth in to allow for the crit hits. Before Mod 6 that was not an issue.
I am looking for more sustainable ways to remain viable to my guild members during our runs and extended survivability in PvP and PvE.
I have done over 10 million damage in the new Dread Legion skirmish only beaten by a SW...
Thoughts on this...
My build is a WK Exec, don't judge the build because with all things being equal, anything is possible.

sab was always superior to all other paths as far as dps is concerned.
im playing sab now with m3 build!!!(permastealth) im doing even better now at pvp and pve!
permastealth is now even more perma then ever b4, i literally dont use my mount at new zones just stealth and solo all quests. lvl 63 with lvl 60 pvp gear doing tons of dmg!
and regarding pvp well now we all know whats going on there so...

I play MI Exec, i have no problems with it. SoD pretty much sucks right now with the bug. So once they fix it, we will see. However, the other feats in Exec path are really good so I still stick with.
I find tr damage in sab tree way less effective in mod 6. Weapon damage is more or less still the same but with increase hp of enemy shadow opportunity its not what it used to be.
Scoundrel is like playing as a companion.
Exe in pve should still be viable. Still i didnt test it
just play the same way with executioner except now u can only apply sod with encounters. I see it as a "nerf" but if it IS a bug then i can only hope they devs change this back!
What i am doing different is i use dazing strike instead of lb to apply sod since ds has such a short cooldown, atleast 4 me lol.

Sadly this is a bug as it is not working per tooltip nor was it mentioned in the patch. This is totally different than say Knife's Edge where it is only suppose to work when you activate a daily once. However with Bloodbath, it activates at every strike. Dazing strike will always have a shorter cooldown regardless of your recovery speed as it is inherently shorter.
Exec is probably the best path for dps as it gives you a lot more dps when you are in stealth. Sab can potentially do more dps by slotting a damaging encounter for SS, but then stealth may be less reliable.

Thank you all for you input. I am trying to work things out with this build and the new items on the menu. Waiting until the 23rd, to see if it really is a bug or a nerfing, is the only choice. Until then... it is do or die.

It's hilarious because, for the sake of PvP, Sab was always the best path.
Yet, no one cried about Sab's ridiculous power, only Scoundrel's "perma-daze" and Exe's SoD.
I guess it was a good run but Sab is probably gonna get nerfed now too.
Broken mechanics, broken class designs, lack of actual content, and over zealous, bronze-age moderation?

CW and other classes are going to get nerfed. TR is underpowered too low dmg in pvp now also too low stealth lol.

I'd like to believe this is the case, but i'd be very surprised if CW receive any significant a nerf/rebalance.
OP, as we've discussed before I'm starting to find that Sab is the more viable path atm. I'll be interested to see if there is an exodus to that feat path over the next weeks/month

That is precisely the reason that I posted this. I wanted to see what everyone else thought about our thoughts. Exec's are decent during PvE, but not as good as before with the SoD issue. Since I have only been playing for about 6 weeks, I have not tried anything else. I do watch the play of Sab's and I have noticed quite a bit more survivability in that build, as well as more potential team support during group PvE.
As an Exec I have found that I run in and use a stealthed LB and hope that SoD hits... then toss a smoke bomb to get out of harms way. Considering that, as I know, one of the most aggro gathering GF's in the game can't keep aggro... perma-stealth is a tool that will be needed.

I moved from playing Mi Exec for close to a year to the Sab path. The nerf to EXEC was expected; the volume of h8r's for SoD drowned out the logical explanation of it. It's fairly obvious that Cryptic wants to change the mechanic of it, tried it in testing and released to general public to see exactly how many TR's would care. TR's have been in the basement before, we're used to not being CW's.
I respect Onegaki's optimism that SoD is bugged, but with the Stealth Nerf, the removal of stealth increasing items, plus the broken SoD? I sit with the doom&gloom crowd on this one.
I also think the differences between the two paths are not so much. Final moments and Exposed Weakness are your two biggest contributors. Final Moments far outshines Gutterborn in stealth and Exposed Weakness far outshines Shadowy Opportunity (imo). A Sab can take the first 3 tiers of Exec tree so we still get the bonus to crit severity; bonus dmg from Vicious Pursuit and the extra run speed from Dying Breath (which, I was disappointed, is not that noticeable). In tier 3 however u have the choice of the poor man's Final Moments as well. All accounted for, the typical Sab is about 20% behind overall in damage from exec tree (without SoD). It didnt stop me from reaching 70 or being able to solo double Giants tho.

Dying Breath has been a disappointment to say the least and as someone else stated in another thread, VP seems to be broken as well. I have previously used it with great success in PvP. When I can get it to work after the toon runs away from me.
