I just started replaying Neverwinter after Module 6 and got to play as the new paladin. So far I have reached level 16 and the class is really good. Can you guys suggest me what to choose as my starting companion? Oh and also maybe the artifact as well. Thanks in advanced.

I would recommend the Healer and Starting Artifact should be the Lantern (you'll need the Critical, Armor Pen, and Combat Advantage Rating Later). You'll likely get plenty of Defense and Recovery from Gear.
    -= Primary Characters =-

    - Forge (GF)
    - Apocalypse - (DC)
    - Sadus (OP)
    - Fireball (GWF)
    - Ixian (CW)

Thank you Loadouts for allowing my toons to be all the things... they ever wanted to be....

if I didnt have promo characters (renegade illusionist and the archer) I would probably have used teh Dog, primary reason, he has a Knock down, and it works very well.

I would also go with the Lantern if you have no prevfious lvl 60 toons ot use Sigils from

personally am using the Sigil of the Devoted, because the Daily is super OP

Yes I think the DC sigil is a must have arti for the paladin ap gain does not seem that high to me compared to other classes.

Also if you have it the eyrines of Belial companion is amazing if you have the SW pack. She is a huge benefit since she is a striker, although you may have to fight her for aggro occasionally, i made it to level 61 before she ever died.

Consider getting the Waters freebie artifact. You can feed it to your DC sigil later, during a double RP even, for a nice RP bonus.

As a general rule, I *always* take the merchant as my starting artifact for *all* my characters. There is nothing in this game more aggravating than being in the middle of a dungeon and running out of inventory space. Kills my gameplay enjoyment.

As for a companion, I think it depends on what Oath you choose. Oath of Protection healing is so so, so you could do with a Leader companion of your choice. Personally, I went with Oath of Devotion, so I went with the Astral Deva as he's a Striker who does lots of AOE. Oh, and it's thematically appropriate for a Paladin :D
